The Space

The former chocolate factory was buildt in 1895 and completely refurbished in 2009 into beautiful apartments full of light and space.

The luxurious loft (592 sqft) is located right were the two most well-known parts of Berlin, the artistic, bohemian Prenzlauer Berg and the stylish, cosmopolitan Mitte meet, just around the corner from famous Kastanienallee and Mauerpark.

On the first floor of the old factory, the loft is facing the backyard. It is very quiet, the property is set back from the street and seperated by an electric gate.

heigh ceilings

very large factory windows facing east

large, sunny balcony

bathroom with bathtub, window and washing machine

kitchen: induction cooker, oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, all by the top brands Miele, Neff, Bosch and Liebherr, kettle, high quality pots and pans (WMF), and so on.

wireless interkom/buzzer with display, high speed internet access (WiFi), flat screen TV, Berlin music CD-Player, radio with MP3, king size-bed (180x200cm), original Italian leather couch; white bed sheets and towels are provided.

The loft incl. bathroom is kept warm and cosy by underfloor heating.

If you want to divide the living room/kitchen area from the sleeping area, you can close a huge, state-of-the-art sliding door.

The Neighborhood

The Schwedter Strasse is a great location to start your experience in Berlin. There are numerous cafés, bars and restaurants on Katanienallee, Oderbergerstrasse, Zionskirchplatz and so on. As the biggest and best preserved pre-war area in Germany (most buildings are from the 1880s), the district is getting more and more popular, but still there are loads of little stores selling fashion, vintage furniture or memorabilia of the old times.

A supermarket and bakery are right across the street, an organic supermarket is 200m, Europe´s biggest organic supermarket is 800m down the road. On sundays the famous Mauerpark flea market and the nice little flea market at Arkonaplatz are literally just around the corner. To get a glimpse of the city`s history you can walk down the road about 800m to the Berlin Wall Memorial.

Getting Around

There are four tube stations nearby: Eberswalderstrasse / Senefelder Platz (U2) or Bernauerstrasse / Rosenthaler Platz (U8) and several tram stops. For example, to reach:

- the Alexanderplatz: 5 minutes by tube or a 20-minute walk
- the Hackescher Markt: 10 minutes by tram or a 20-minute walk
- the River Spree and the georgious Museumsinsel (World Heritage Site): 10 minutes by tram or (which I would highly recommend) a 30-minute-walk down the tree-lined, newly renovated streets of East-Berlin, passing by a lot of galleries, cafés and shops.

All the other famous sides (Brandenburg Gate, Friedrichstrasse, Potsdamer Platz, etc.) are also easy and quick to get to.

An ideal base to explore Berlin; I would love to be your host in this vibrant, ever-changing city.
