The former chocolate factory was buildt in 1895 and completely refurbished in 2009 into beautiful apartments full of light and space.
The luxurious loft (592 sqft) is located right were the two most well-known parts of Berlin, the artistic, bohemian Prenzlauer Berg and the stylish, cosmopolitan Mitte meet, just around the corner from famous Kastanienallee and Mauerpark.
On the first floor of the old factory, the loft is facing the backyard. It is very quiet, the property is set back from the street and seperated by an electric gate.
very large factory windows facing east
large, sunny balcony
bathroom with bathtub, window and washing machine
kitchen: induction cooker, oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, all by the top brands Miele, Neff, Bosch and Liebherr, kettle, high quality pots and pans (WMF), and so on.
wireless interkom/buzzer with display, high speed internet access (WiFi), flat screen TV, Berlin music CD-Player, radio with MP3, king size-bed (180x200cm), original Italian leather couch; white bed sheets and towels are provided.
The loft incl. bathroom is kept warm and cosy by underfloor heating.
If you want to divide the living room/kitchen area from the sleeping area, you can close a huge, state-of-the-art sliding door.
The Schwedter Strasse is a great location to start your experience in Berlin. There are numerous cafés, bars and restaurants on Katanienallee, Oderbergerstrasse, Zionskirchplatz and so on. As the biggest and best preserved pre-war area in Germany (most buildings are from the 1880s), the district is getting more and more popular, but still there are loads of little stores selling fashion, vintage furniture or memorabilia of the old times.
A supermarket and bakery are right across the street, an organic supermarket is 200m, Europe´s biggest organic supermarket is 800m down the road. On sundays the famous Mauerpark flea market and the nice little flea market at Arkonaplatz are literally just around the corner. To get a glimpse of the city`s history you can walk down the road about 800m to the Berlin Wall Memorial.
There are four tube stations nearby: Eberswalderstrasse / Senefelder Platz (U2) or Bernauerstrasse / Rosenthaler Platz (U8) and several tram stops. For example, to reach:
- the Alexanderplatz: 5 minutes by tube or a 20-minute walk
- the Hackescher Markt: 10 minutes by tram or a 20-minute walk
- the River Spree and the georgious Museumsinsel (World Heritage Site): 10 minutes by tram or (which I would highly recommend) a 30-minute-walk down the tree-lined, newly renovated streets of East-Berlin, passing by a lot of galleries, cafés and shops.
All the other famous sides (Brandenburg Gate, Friedrichstrasse, Potsdamer Platz, etc.) are also easy and quick to get to.
An ideal base to explore Berlin; I would love to be your host in this vibrant, ever-changing city.

Ingo was an absolutely fantastic host, staying with us for hours to talk us through his favourite bits of Berlin and answering all of our questions. He was so helpful and we followed so many of his recommendations, which made our trip to Berlin.
The apartment is beautiful and it was lovely being in such a great neighbourhood with so much going on nearby. A real gem - both apartment and host. Thank you Ingo!!
This was our first experience with airbnb and Ingo set such a high standard as a host. On our arrival, Ingo spent about 45 minutes introducing us to the apartment and providing extremely useful information about the immediate locality. His mud map containing information about good eating spots, tram stops and U stations made eating out and getting around so easy.
It was such a joy to return home to the apartment after spending the day visiting the sites/sights of Berlin. The apartment is modern, understated, well equipped and in an extremely quiet. It is located in a bohemian type area with a nice community feel. On Fridays, there is a local market nearby selling quality fresh fruit and vegetables, and a number of food stalls. It was extremely pleasant having a drink and a bite to eat while watching families enjoying themselves.
The excellent public transport system made it very easy to visit the major museums and other places of interest.
We thoroughly enjoyed our two weeks at the apartment and were a little sad when it was time to leave. Ingo is such an accommodating host who ensures that his guests' needs are met. We can certainly recommend staying here.
We loved everything about our stay at Ingo's apartment. Ingo could not have been more helpful when we arrived, providing us with maps and recommendations on local places to visit and dine at. The apartment is perfect, Ingo has the most beautiful taste, and everything is so comfortable and quiet. Great music! We would certainly recommend this apartment and hope to go back sometime ourselves. Many thanks Ingo for having us. Greg and Jain. Australia
Ingo was a fantastic host and the apartment was beautiful and had everything we needed for a week stay in Berlin. Ingo was so helpful with directions, ideas of activities and places to visit, eat and shop. The apartment was clean, cosy and had everything we needed. I highly recommend Ingo as a host and his apartment.
The airy apartment gave us a comfortable feel during the uber-hot days we were in Berlin. The big windows and the semi-wall between the living and sleeping spaces make it a spacious, pleasant place. Everything clean, which is also very nice. One morning one of the neighbours was playing the piano very professionally, a beautiful extra. Ingo was stand-by if communication was needed, which was practical. Our goodbye-talk at the last evening was a very nice and personal touch to end our little vacation.
Ingo is a superb host who really goes above and beyond to ensure that his guests have a great stay in Berlin. He shared all sorts of insider tips on the neighborhood and the city which made us feel right at home. Not to mention that he is a very cool and personable guy.
The Chocolate Factory apartment was just as described: gorgeous. It is filled with light, furnished with top notch fixtures and amenities, and the extra high ceilings make it feel really spacious. It makes for a very cozy place to wait out those Berliner thunderstorms. The neighborhood is lively and full of inviting restaurants and hip boutiques.
Great host. Great place. Great stay in Prenzlauer Berg!
