The Space

Bedroom apartment in Berlin's hottest district

The area called "Kreuzkölln" is where Kreuzberg meets Neukölln, and has in the past five years has become one of Berlin's most attractive areas where cafes, bars, clubs and galleries rub shoulders with the city's best falafel places, restaurants, and organic stores. The atmosphere is open and cultural in a very relaxed environment and a visit to the Turkish market at Maybachufer is a must, or perhaps a late brunch at one of the myriad of small cafes, a second-hand shopping tour or a leisurely walk along the river?

I'm a Finnish freelance artists (musician/photographer) with Berlin as base. I rent my apartment in periods when on tour outside of Germany. The apartment has a fully equipped kitchen, renovated bathroom with shower, one large and one small bedroom, fast wireless internet and washing machine. It is possible to borrow one bicycle.

The apartment is located in the heart of Kreuzkölln on Hobrechtstrasse, 250 meters from the U-bahn stop Schönleinstrasse. The main railway station takes 20 minutes by public transport to both airports Tegel and Schönefeldt about 40 minutes.

There is one 120 cm bed and two mattresses. Potentially we can host four people if you don't mind sharing beds.

The apartment has also electric piano, many guitars, mandolin, clarinet and accordion which all can be used by request.

  • Absolutely incredible stay, apartment was lovely and in prime location for seeing Berlin! Had a little bit of trouble getting hold of the keys but Markus was easy to get hold of and very helpful so it was no major problem. Aside from that had a wonderful time in the apartment and would definitely recommend it to anyone.

  • We had a very nice stay. Excellent location. Smooth pickup and drop of the keys. Markus even lent out his instruments to us which was very generous. To sum up: great value, I will definitely stay here again.

  • We had a Problem with this appartment. On The Way to Berlin i tried to Contact The Person who was in The appartment before us, so i can get The Key. But The Person left The Key in The appartment...so We couldn't get in! Was really Bad cause We arrived After 7 hours Traveling in Berlin and had no Place to sleep...
However Marcus was very friendly and called me immediately on my mobile After i send him a EMail. He offered us to send another Key, but it Would have arrived The other day and this was too Late for us. He really tried to help us, but as he had no Second Key in Berlin and was not there he couldn't help us.
Markus is a very Nice Person, but in our Case The organization with The Apartment did not work.

  • A nice little apartment with good infrastructur.
I couldn`t find the bike that was promissed and it was a little dirty (Schmuellig).
The linen where not was since there was no washing liquid for the mashine. All in all I can recomend it for a longer stay since everything you need is there.

  • That apartment is very nice part of (website hidden) is surrounded by lots of restaurants and pubs. There is a bakery near by which is open even in Sunday. Distance to metro station is very short which is really useful.
    I recomend you that place.

  • Our experience at Markus's Kreuzkölln apartment was mixed. The apartment was pretty dirty when we moved in– dustballs in the hallway, dishes in the sink, etc. After we spent an afternoon cleaning, the apartment started to feel much homier. The location is lovely and the apartment is fairly charming. We fell in love with a little Swedish coffee shop around the corner.

  • Markus flat is very well situated - close to the Maybachufer and a market. Best area in Berlin to stay! Communication with Markus was also very good - friendly, quick, told me everything I need to now, even send me a movie about the flat. But: Markus was not at home the days or maybe weeks before I arrived, but rent the flat to different people, so the rooms and especially the fridge were quite dirty. I really liked the apartment, but when you look for a clean appartment, I would suggest to take another one.

  • We had a lovely stay in Markus' flat - brilliantly located in a really nice neighbourhood. Very comfortable for 3 people. Unfortunately the wifi wasn't working, but that was the only downside. Highly recommend.

  • Really fantastic experience. The house is close to the underground station and in a great area. In addition, Markus made a list of good spaces to eat and to have coffee.
Markus lends his bike to you which is great to visit Berlin by bicycle.

The cons (+/-): His building has some music artists, so it is not weird if you listen 'live concerts' at 4 a.m until 6 a.m. :)

  • The apartment is spaceous and well located. I liked that Markus provided me his bike. Communication was easy, however due to the fact that he was abroad a little more complex than usual. Right next to the house there is a shop and a bakery. Metro and buses is also close. I can recommend this apartment. It makes you feel at home in Berlin.

I'm a Finnish musician living in Berlin with my girlfriend who is a dancer. We are both traveling a lot and so rent out our place when we're not there.
