About This Listing
Spacious, modern houseboat in a quiet canal just west of the city center.
Includes bikes to get around town.
Relax in this modern houseboat.
This is a popular listing, I update the calendar daily. Dates that are already blocked in the calendar are not available.
There is a private garden with bike parking on the land side, and a 4*5 meter (200 SqFt) south-facing private deck on the water. The BBQ can be used to keep you warm in the evenings.
The boat is in a quiet canal with no big tour-boats passing by. I am a skipper myself. During the boating season, I will be charging my electric ships moored next to the living room. I'll probably need to pass your the deck once or twice per day.
Naturally, I'll respect your privacy and I won't need to enter the boat itself.
There is an upstairs neighbor. She has her own entrance. Her charming red cat likes to hang out in the garden.
There is one full-size master bedroom & a small boat-style second bedroom. Both with queen size bed (140*200cm). The small bedroom is equipped with cable TV.
A single folding bed can be put in the living room on request.
All beds include duvet, fresh bed-linnen and towels.
The cozy living room offers free view of the canals. The pellet-heater provides safe, easy heating and the romance of a fireplace.
There are no neighbors in view so you enjoy maximum privacy. Double glazing and hardwood floors throughout.
The downstairs laundry room has a washer, dryer and ironing board for your use.
Equipped with full-size bathtub with shower, towel-drying heater and hair-dryer.
This houseboat has a modern fully-equipped kitchen with gas-stove, two types of coffee machine, blender, oven and dishwasher, but no microwave or toaster.
For your convenience, I have a prepaid phone you can use to call me if you need information, or call a taxi. You can also take the phone into town so I can help you find your way back...
For the so inclined, there is a popular coffeeshop around the corner. My home is smoke-friendly.
Please open a window while you smoke, and please don't use air freshener sprays.
I'm a skipper in the Amsterdam canals. Pickup from the train station and other boat tours may be arranged.
I also have a small electric boat available for rent. You can use it to cruise the canals by yourself.
Pets / allergies:
Your dogs are also welcome on the boat and in the garden!
I have no carpets, only hypo-alergic hardwood floors.
All rooms, including bathroom and bedrooms have opening windows.
Whilst I have no pets, the upstairs neighbor does have a cat. It likes to play in the garden.
My neighbor has two small pigs. You may hear them at feeding time.
My houseboat uses only green electricity and recycled wood for its energy and heating. My tour-boat is one of the only solar-powered electric ships in Amsterdam.
Located in a small park in the west part of town (Bos en Lommer), it's less than one mile west of the Anne Frank house.
Food / drink:
There are a few nice restaurants in the area (see guide), a few breakfast / lunch places and a supermarket just around the corner.
For kids, there is a wonderful playground right next-door. I love the zipline!
Take a morning run at the Erasmus park nearby, or explore the city using the included bikes.
INCLUDES 5 BIKES. A 5-minute ride to the Jordaan, any place in Amsterdam can be reached within 30 minutes.
11 minutes by tram from Central Station; 15-minute tram ride away from Dam square.
Also includes transporter bike for families with small children.
If my schedule permits, I can pick you up from Central Station in my covered boat. That's arriving in style!
I'll send a user manual upon booking. This contains wifi password, key code and more detailed info.
Besides the two bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen and lounge, there is a nice private deck right by the water. Sit in the sun, or even take a swim in the canal!
There is also a shady garden. That's where I park my bikes.
Interaction with Guests
I may be out of town, especially in the winter. However, from April till October I'm a skipper in the Amsterdam canals. I may be able to pick you up from the train station in one of my electric ships!
There are two house keys on the board in the kitchen.
There are five bikes available, each with combination-lock.
Please lock them at all times, even when parked in the garden. There is no deposit, but there is a 85 Euro replacement fee if you lose a bike.
This is a smoke- and pet-friendly houseboat apartment. All rooms have windows that can be opened for ventilation.
As a courtesy to our next guests, please open a window when you smoke. Please don't use 'air freshener'.
There is an upstairs neighbor; she has her own entrance. She will be able to answer any practical questions.
We had a fantastic stay in Amsterdam on Marc's houseboat. The location was a bit out of the central area which may not have been ideal, however Marc was very hospitable in taking us on a tour on his boat for very reasonable cost and dropping us in town on another occasion for no fee. There were also 5 bikes that made it really convenient to get to shops etc. Marc was really nice and helpful with questions. The houseboat was lovely, it had a nice decking great for drinks in the sun. The only negative was that the second bedroom was through the bathroom however this was minor inconvenience. We hope to return someday!
From the first contact via email communication was very easy, fast and really helpful, uncomplicated and warm hearted.
At the place Marc offered solutions for all questions:
Parking the car > no problem - Marc is driving you to the free parking just 8 minutes away.
Boat trip > no problem - Marc offers a personal boat trip with individual stops :-)
The Sunny Houseboat is perfect situated.
Very silent place for relaxing.
Feeling comfortable from the beginning.
Close to the city-centre and shopping mall.
Having breakfast or barbecue in the sun on the water is great.
Cycling is just fun.
Marc was very helpful before I'd even booked the trip. With it being a possibility that I couldn't go to Amsterdam he reserved it until I knew for difinite that I could. When we arrived, the house boat was very clean and modern just like it shows in the pictures. Marc is and outstanding host very helpful and relaxed! would highly recommend him! 10/10
Marc picked me up at the Central Station with his E-Boat and because one of my friends was late, he also brought me back to the station with 3 bikes on his boat, so I could pick up my friends, great service!
Houseboat is very clean, well equipped with everything you need and has a fantastic floating terrace to enjoy the sun. It is very quiet, never slept better in Amsterdam!
It takes about 15 min to Centraal Station by bike, tram station is 5-10 minutes by foot and tram will take 14 min to Central Station. Bikes are included, which is really great.
Marc is a perfect host..polite, on time and always trying to arrange everything for a perfect stay.
My bike had a flat tire one day on our way to the inner city, so I left it there locked and wrote a message to Marc when returning home in the night. He picked it up, arranged the repair and I found it repaired the next days afternoon in front of our houseboat, could not be happier :)
Will come back when visiting Amsterdam 100%!
It was a pleasure staying at Marc's houseboat. Marc was kind enough to pick us up at the train station in his water taxi. He provided us with drinks and snacks at the house since we arrived late and even drove us to get food. The houseboat was as pictured with ample space for 5 people. The location was great. Only 10 minute bike ride into the heart of the city. Overall a great experience and will surely stay there again next time in Amsterdam.
