Come stay in our lovely house in a quiet room with a private bath minutes away from the charming coastal village of Mystic.
Our house is on the edge of Mystic's historic district, very near the river and the shops and restaurants downtown. We have a large back lot, so even though we are close to town, it feels like you are in the countryside.
We built the house with details designed to help it fit into the surrounding historic neighborhood and also to be energy efficient, bright, and sunny. Enjoy the morning sunshine on the porch with a fresh-brewed cup of Peets coffee or pull a chair up to the fire on a cool evening and relax!
The bedroom is simply furnished with a very comfortable memory foam double bed. It is on the third floor with a big north facing window and a small east facing window. Our office is the other space on the third floor, so the room is quiet and very private in the evenings and on weekends, when we seldom use the office.
The private bath is right next to the this bedroom. It has a wonderful oversized shower with two shower heads.
For groups or families, we may have a second bedroom available on the second floor. It has two big south-facing windows and a window to the west. This room is almost twice the size of the third floor bedroom, but is less private. It also has a double bed and a small desk. If you book for three or four people, the $30/pp extra cost covers that room.
Our house is within an easy ten minute walk of the village of Mystic, a former shipbuilding center. Many good restaurants, several ice cream shops, a very good bookstore, a friendly pub, and other amenities are right in the village. Yelp has very good reviews that are largely spot on.
We are also walking distance to Mystic Seaport, a short drive to Mystic Aquarium, and close to beaches, boating, and other seashore activities. The casinos are about ten miles away, but if you are coming to Mystic to visit the casinos, you will probably be happier staying someplace else.
Mystic has a bike sharing system. Pick up a bike at the train station, at the bookstore, the Peter Pan bus stop, or at the library and ride wherever you want for as long as you want for free. The bikes are well maintained and come with helmets, locks, and (website hidden)-Anne and I enjoy meeting new people. We both love to read, are interested in architecture and landscape design (professionally and personally), love to be outdoors, and have a steady stream of books passing by our bedside tables. We both work at home and our daughter Anna is in high school, so we are generally around. We also have four boys who are off in college, out in the world, or occasionally taking a respite from their adventures at home.
If you are traveling with kids and bring sleeping bags, we can easily set up an extra mattress on the floor in the office area near the third floor bedroom.
We have a large yard, nice porches, a very friendly, if sometimes noisy, dog and a somewhat aloof house cat. The cat is not allowed up to the third floor or into the guest bedroom. Although we love pets, we are not comfortable hosting other dogs or cats. Please find alternate accommodations for them if you would like to stay here.
We have a two night minimum this summer as we are busier than in the past, but welcome inquiries about one night stays.
PLEASE NOTE: We are a busy family and often don't know our full schedule more than a a few weeks out. If you are looking for something more than a month from now, we probably won't be able to confirm it yet.
Before booking, please set up an AirBnB profile and send a message so we know a little about each other and can both be sure this is a good fit.
IMPORTANT: should you book the room, online maps or your GPS will take you to the wrong address. We will send detailed directions to our house.
Guy and Jo- Anne were fantastic, welcoming hosts who were helpful and went above and beyond the call of duty to look after us. From delicious breakfast muffins and coffee to popsicles to pandering to the whims of our children!! We can't recommend them highly enough. Hope to return some day. Mark, Kate, Zachary and Stella.
Guy and Joanne were gracious hosts as well as interesting people
to visit with. They were helpful about finding our way in the Mystic area. On a busy weekend they even took us on a much-anticipated boat ride and pointed out local food spots and native birds. They made our first airbnb experience enjoyably memorable.
The room was great. It had enough room for us to put a pack and play for our baby and was very clean and quiet. The location can't be beat as it was walking distance from almost everything we wanted to do. This was my first Airbnb experience and I was a little hesitant to rent a private room but the hosts were awesome and made for a fantastic experience! I would highly recommend.
Guy and JoAnne were fantastic host; kind, generous and considerate. While very engaging, they allowed for privacy. They laid out a breakfast every morning without giving a time limit. They were very helpful with information about activities in the area.
The house is in a beautiful, quiet area and the room was charming and comfortable; though it could get a little chilly, there is a little space heater that makes it all better and in fact makes it even more charming and comfy.
Highly recommend Mystic and Guy and JoAnne! Can't wait to go back!
Beautiful place, generous host, Guy's wonderful home more than met our expectations. We enjoyed our stay in Mystic so much we wish we could have stayed longer. Mystic is a jewel of a place, well worth an extended stay at this lovely B&B. Highly recommended.
Guy and Jo-Anne were very accommodating and their house is lovely. They provided a list of local activities with recommendations. We walked the 10 minutes into the center of town and had a very pleasant stay in spite of the off-and-on rain storms. And the coffee was delicious!
Guy and Jo-Anne were wonderful hosts, friendly and helpful, even inviting me to some of their own activities. The house is in a quiet neighborhood but very close to down town Mystic. In my rush to leave, I neglected to return the bike I used via the Mystic bike sharing program and Guy graciously offered to manage the return for me as well as mail me a forgotten jacket accidentally left behind! My room was cozy, and private with great light, plenty of space and a comfortable bed. I would gladly return for another visit
Guy and his wife Joanne were very pleasant and made our stay a good one. We had fresh breakfast every morning. Their dog Cooper was a friendly addition. The house is located in an amazing area just a few minutes walk from downtown Mystic.
It was a pleasure for us to stay with Guy and Jo-Anne. The accommodation was wonderful and allowed us to really enjoy the wonderful ambience of their house and Mystic. Their dog Cooper was a friendly and lovely addition. The next time we go to Mystic we hope to stay again and would recommend without hesitation. Great place…..
We had a delightful stay with Guy and Joanne! Great hosts, great accommodations, great location. Hope to stay again and would recommend without hesitation!
