The Space

Beautiful new house on a quaint rain forest road. Just a five min. walk to Cocles beach, supermarket, restaurants, bus stop, and shopping. Cocles is a tiny town between Puerto Viejo and Punta Uva. Both of those towns are just a 15 min. bike ride away.

The house has two bedrooms, an open concept kitchen and living room, and a large porch with dining table and lounge area . House is made from wood we cut from the property. The bathroom is tiled, with custom made mosaic tub. Detailed and unique accents throughout the house.
Monkeys, toucans, parrots, sloths, and other creatures often play in the yard. Butterflies love our front garden and are lovely to watch while sitting on the porch.

There is a driveway that fits one vehicle.
We have wireless internet. A cell phone is available with a security deposit.
The area is safe, but house includes a security box just in case.

House is fully equipped with new appliances, hot water in the shower, and fans in the bedrooms.
Waterfalls, beaches, zip lining, hiking trails, kayaking, and animal rescue centers (where you can play with monkeys and sloths) are all available within a 20 minute drive of the house. Some of these attractions are only a five minute walk away!

Also, please be aware that our listing is for a house, not a hotel. The house locks up completely, but we did design to be open-concept because we like to be integrated with the rain forest. Sometimes, ants come marching through, geckoes like to chatter away with you while you're cooking in the kitchen, and hummingbirds sometimes try to join you at the table on the porch. We've recently learned that some people are afraid of these things, so we just want to make sure that you are rain forest friendly before you book.

Interaction with Guests

We have a property manager who will help you get settled in and who is available if any issues arise.

Getting around

There is a bus stop at the end of our road for the local buses, which come by several times a day. There are bike rental shops close by, and taxis from our house into Puerto Viejo only cost $6. You can also walk- there are some lovely trails that go along the beach.
Parking for one vehicle is available at the house.

  • We LOVED staying at Wilson & Jasmine's house! It is absolutely beautiful with an adorable little kitchen and bath in a great location right next to Puerto Viejo and the beach. You get the best of both worlds. We woke up to howler monkies in the morning and enjoyed the sounds of the rainforest and we able to walk down the street to the most gorgeous beaches in the country. I highly recommend staying here!

  • Wilson and Jasmine’s house is AMAZING! My boyfriend and I stayed at their lovely home April 13th – April 19th. We loved how open the house felt. We spent most of our nights hanging out on the front deck. Watch out for the hammock! It’s really comfortable and you WILL fall asleep in it! Their house is located a little less than 2kilometers from the town of Puerto Viejo. I highly recommend renting bikes. If you do that, then it only takes a few minutes to bike into town. Puerto Viejo is such a great town! It’s full of great places to eat and you can find really good coffee!
My boyfriend and I mainly hung out by the beach that’s close to the house. Not many people go there, so there’s lots of space and the water is incredible (soooo warm!). As for getting to Puerto Viejo, I would take the bus from San Jose. It’s about a 4 hour bus ride there. There’s no bathroom on the bus, but they do make stops. I would NOT take a taxi. It’s way too expensive. I think it’s about $200 for a taxis versus $12 for a bus ticket.
Thomas, their property manager, lives nearby and was AWESOME! He showed us around the town and also pointed out where the good places to eat were. My boyfriend and I wished we could have hung out with him more.  I can’t wait to go back!!!! I love you, Puerto Viejo!

  • The house was fine, a few issues with water and it is noisy at night with dogs. Was nice to have a blender in the kitchen. Thomas was great, very helpful. The area is fantastic. We had bikes and biked from Punta Uva to Puerto Viejo and explored all the surrounding beaches.

  • We just spent 6 days in the Jungle House. Wilson and Jasmine were very helpful in the planning stages of our vacation. They gave us a great list of local attractions, and were very good about responding to our many questions quickly. The house itself was great. We felt secluded in the jungle, but still close enough to many great beaches, and just a stones throw away from restaurants and shops in Puerto Viejo. They were also very accommodating, making sure our time spent there was comfortable, and we're great about any additional requests we had while staying there. Thanks for the unique experience!

  • We had a great vacation here. Thomas was an excellent host and was extremely helpful during out stay. The house was a great value and we were just down the hill from Thomas and next door to a nice neighbor who helped us out in a number of ways, Couple of things that prevented us from giving this 5 stars: First, it's about a 1 km hike up a fairly steep hill to get to the house from the main road. This wasn't apparent from the description but is important for potential renters with mobility or respiratory problems to be aware of. Second, the internet service promised doesn't work with Windows 8 computers. It isn't Wi-Fi, but a USB stick, so we brought our notebooks but the device doesn't have drivers for Windows 7 or 8. On the positive side, the house comes with a local cell phone which came in handy to call taxis, etc. All in all, the house is a good value.

  • I stayed here for a week with my wife and our daughter of 2.
It was the perfect mix of being secluded and being among other people and situations. We hired bikes with a child's seat and got around easily and everywhere in between Puerto Viejo and Manzanillo. The place itself was spectacular to us, in the middle of nature, and at the same time clean, plus with fully equipped kitchen and bathroom.
And Thomas, the caretaker, fits the above description perfectly: he is there when you need him and he stays out of sight once you've found your groove.
    5 stars all over!

  • We had an amazing time at Wilson and Jasmine's jungle home in Puerto Viejo. The place was clean and had all the amenities you would need to make it feel like a home away from home. We cooked a few meals a day and loved the porch for hanging out and eating. We had a car, which was very helpful - bikes were good for during the day, but if you need to get some place quickly or far away or after dark, a car made it so much easier. Wilson and Jasmine were very responsive to all our questions before the trip and Thomas, the property manager, was super helpful while we were there. He lived down the street and had great suggestions/insider tips for our vacation. We were there for 2 weeks but wish we could have stayed longer!
