Beautiful new house on a quaint rain forest road. Just a five min. walk to Cocles beach, supermarket, restaurants, bus stop, and shopping. Cocles is a tiny town between Puerto Viejo and Punta Uva. Both of those towns are just a 15 min. bike ride away.
The house has two bedrooms, an open concept kitchen and living room, and a large porch with dining table and lounge area . House is made from wood we cut from the property. The bathroom is tiled, with custom made mosaic tub. Detailed and unique accents throughout the house.
Monkeys, toucans, parrots, sloths, and other creatures often play in the yard. Butterflies love our front garden and are lovely to watch while sitting on the porch.
There is a driveway that fits one vehicle.
We have a usb internet stick that can plug into your computer. A cell phone is available with a security deposit.
The area is safe, but house includes a security box just in case.
House is fully equipped with new appliances, hot water in the shower, and fans in the bedrooms.
Waterfalls, beaches, zip lining, hiking trails, kayaking, and animal rescue centers (where you can play with monkeys and sloths) are all available within a 20 minute drive of the house. Some of these attractions are only a five minute walk away!
Also, please be aware that our listing is for a house, not a hotel. The house locks up completely, but we did design to be open-concept because we like to be integrated with the rain forest. Sometimes, ants come marching through, geckoes like to chatter away with you while you're cooking in the kitchen, and hummingbirds sometimes try to join you at the table on the porch. We've recently learned that some people are afraid of these things, so we just want to make sure that you are rain forest friendly before you book.
We just spent 6 days in the Jungle House. Wilson and Jasmine were very helpful in the planning stages of our vacation. They gave us a great list of local attractions, and were very good about responding to our many questions quickly. The house itself was great. We felt secluded in the jungle, but still close enough to many great beaches, and just a stones throw away from restaurants and shops in Puerto Viejo. They were also very accommodating, making sure our time spent there was comfortable, and we're great about any additional requests we had while staying there. Thanks for the unique experience!
We had a great vacation here. Thomas was an excellent host and was extremely helpful during out stay. The house was a great value and we were just down the hill from Thomas and next door to a nice neighbor who helped us out in a number of ways, Couple of things that prevented us from giving this 5 stars: First, it's about a 1 km hike up a fairly steep hill to get to the house from the main road. This wasn't apparent from the description but is important for potential renters with mobility or respiratory problems to be aware of. Second, the internet service promised doesn't work with Windows 8 computers. It isn't Wi-Fi, but a USB stick, so we brought our notebooks but the device doesn't have drivers for Windows 7 or 8. On the positive side, the house comes with a local cell phone which came in handy to call taxis, etc. All in all, the house is a good value.
I stayed here for a week with my wife and our daughter of 2.
It was the perfect mix of being secluded and being among other people and situations. We hired bikes with a child's seat and got around easily and everywhere in between Puerto Viejo and Manzanillo. The place itself was spectacular to us, in the middle of nature, and at the same time clean, plus with fully equipped kitchen and bathroom.
And Thomas, the caretaker, fits the above description perfectly: he is there when you need him and he stays out of sight once you've found your groove.
5 stars all over!
Nice home with a great terrace (also on rainy days) and very well located!
WONDERFUL PLACE, BEAUTIFUL HOUSE, LOVELY WILSON AND JASMINE, ADORABLY HELPFUL THOMAS!!!
100% positive experience, we already miss the house and the extremely good vibe of Puerto Viejo. Be back soon!
Another trip to the Jungle house equals another very satisfied vacation. Much thanks to Jasmine Wilson and lovely Thomas for making this stay such a delight.

We had an amazing time at Wilson and Jasmine's jungle home in Puerto Viejo. The place was clean and had all the amenities you would need to make it feel like a home away from home. We cooked a few meals a day and loved the porch for hanging out and eating. We had a car, which was very helpful - bikes were good for during the day, but if you need to get some place quickly or far away or after dark, a car made it so much easier. Wilson and Jasmine were very responsive to all our questions before the trip and Thomas, the property manager, was super helpful while we were there. He lived down the street and had great suggestions/insider tips for our vacation. We were there for 2 weeks but wish we could have stayed longer!
The jungle house is just amazing. All that my girlfriend and I could have asked for as a home base in Puerto Viejo / Cocles area. The caretaker
Thomas is a dream, a wealth of local information and was always available if we had any questions and made sure we were well taken care of. The house is secluded but totally safe, set back about a 10 minute walk up a dirt road and hill from the main road, but still just a 15 minute walk to the beach and much less if you ride bikes everywhere which is what we did.
The open living room and kitchen were great for hanging out but nothing beats the HUGE deck with hammock and dining table. The stove was great and we made a few meals at the house and no issues with the bathroom and super big tub/shower.
Wake up to the sounds of the howler monkeys in the trees, hang out in the huge backyard, watch birds from the deck and unwind. This was a great home base to do as much or as little as you want and was a perfect getaway.
We would certainly return!!!
My friend and I had a wonderful week-long stay at the house in Cocles and loved our time there! We're recommending the house and the "neighborhood" to friends and family!
Jasmine and Wilson were great about responding to emails and provided extensive information ahead of our arrival so we felt that we had a handle on some of the things we wanted to experience before we arrived. As others have stated in previous reviews, it was lovely to have Thomas, the property manager, as a touchstone with questions about the area; we knew that if we had any issues (we didn't have any), he'd be available to help. We also happened to meet the young woman who cleans the house between visitors, and she was helpful in connecting us with a cab and making her own recommendations about places to go.
Sometimes a car would've been nice, but we found that we were able to do much of what we wanted to do by walking or biking. It was nice to have the pulpería within walking distance for groceries. The weather turned out to be less rainy than we'd expected (hooray!), but we were actually happy to have one day when it poured and we could spend some time just hanging on the porch, reading, talking, sipping tea.... We would've loved to stay another week or two. We really enjoyed the friendliness of the folks we met (both Ticos and ex-pats) and the laid-back lifestyle that is the norm in the area. Plus, the beaches aren't bad!! ;)
This place is awesome!!!! Beautiful home in a perfect location. Jasmine and Wilson were great to coordinate with and their property manager, Thomas, is super friendly and more than happy to share his incredible wealth of knowledge about the area. I'm so grateful that this was the first place I landed in Costa Rica and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Puerto Viejo. It's just far enough away from town so that you get to experience the amazing nature of the jungle...from howler monkeys to toucans, yet still close enough to everything you need. One of the better grocery stores in the area is just up the road, as well as a fresh and mostly organic fruit stand run by a local family. Not to mention, there is a beautiful beach just a short walk away. Thanks for everything!! I'd definitely come here again.
