The newly opened Rijsmuseum is around the corner, 2 minutes!
My place is the most perfect place you can possibly stay in in Amsterdam. It is in a beautiful corner house built around 1900 on the first floor, full of light and nice views through the 6 windows. It is a former nuns house, hence on the corner is a scary looking nun to scare off the evil. It is completely private as no neighbours can look in, and even comes in with a beautiful tower room, where you have full view over the canal (Lijnbaansgracht) and can see the trams at Leidseplein.
For guests with any mobility issues or a disability that prevents you from using stairs, there is one long flight of very steep stairs up to this flat (very common for Amsterdam, but worth keeping in mind).
It is 200 meters or 5 minutes walk to Leidseplein, Vondelpark and Rijksmuseum which will make your stay very special and comfortable.
Shopping street Leidsestraat and PC Hoofdstraat are literally around the corner, and around the house you have plenty of Art Galleries and antique storesto sneak around.
The area in where my apartment is at is called de Weteringbuurt due to all street names starting with Wetering, and sometimes also the Spiegel area, due to the Spiegelstraat which is famous all around the world for the antique stores.
There are 2 majore bicycle rentals 3 minute walk away, and public transport hub Leidseplein is 2 minutes walk: Tram 1,2,5, 7 and 10 cross there. Trams 24 and 25 pass Weteringcircuit which is 1 minute away.
The location is perfect because you are in the middle of everything, yet it is very quiet with beautiful views on the canal with the private boots passing along, and the street with the bicycles and people strolling through Amsterdam.
The studio comes with all luxury facilities, kitchen, coffee machine, fridge, washing machine, dryer, couch, table, separate bathroom with large windows at the back.
Welcome to Amsterdam, welcome home!
Generally I expect my guests to treat my place as if its your own. Please take care of the neighbours, and greet everyone you come across. There are only two other appartments in the house, but since you all use the same entrance door please always take care that the door is closed when you leave
My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our stay in Volker's apartment. The location is fantastic, close to some lovely bars and restaurants. The apartment itself is bright and airy with plenty of space for two people. This apartment is ideal for a short city break!
The studio was amazing, incredible location very close to leidseplein and also the center. The view of the canal was beautiful. We forgot the keys inside the studio one day and volker came in 10 minutes to help us. Great studio, great location and great price
We had a fantastic time staying in Volker's apartment. The location was wonderful with super views of the canal and an incredibly stylish coffee bar immediately opposite ('Back to Black'). We were met by Bart who pointed us in the right direction for local food shops etc. Couldn't have asked for more. The apartment itself was great and exactly as advertised. It was perfect for the three of us (2 grown ups and a 7 year old for three nights).
Liat and Bart contacted me before my arrival to arrange the check-in time and Bart helped me settle into the flat and get oriented. As this was my first time in Amsterdam it made me feel very welcome.
I loved the neighbourhood which was quiet and peppered with art galleries and other flats. It is actually right above an art gallery. It overlooked a canal and the Rijksmuseum was just a street away, with the Van Gogh museum just further down. The neighbourhood is perfect for getting your artistic fix! I loved it! It's a bit further from the Central Station but very walkable in nice weather. There are trams and buses nearby making it very convenient. The main sights are all within walking distance and the flat was a lovely base to set out from to sightsee.
The flat itself looks exactly as it does in the pictures and it looks straight out of a interior design catalogue. I loved the design of it! It has everything you might need. There was also a bookshelf with travel guides and books on Amsterdam which I found useful. It was comforting to come home after a long day to this cosy flat and recharge.
I had difficulty with the steep steps, typical of Amsterdam flats, but Bart was kind enough to help me with my luggage so there was no problem.
My stay at Volker's flat was truly enjoyable and if I return to Amsterdam I would definitely want to stay there again. I wished my own home and neighbourhood were as stylish! (Will perhaps take some ideas on how to design my place in future!)
perfect little modern apartment in a great location. Walking distance to everything we didn't need to catch a single tram/taxi.
Great apartment, great location, beautiful city. I'd highly recommend this to anyone looking to spend a few days in Amsterdam. I was greeted by Bart upon arrival who was very friendly and even took some time to pick up some coffee for the apartment.
I hope to stay again soon,
