The newly opened Rijsmuseum is around the corner, 2 minutes!
My place is the most perfect place you can possibly stay in in Amsterdam. It is in a beautiful corner house built around 1900 on the first floor, full of light and nice views through the 6 windows. It is a former nuns house, hence on the corner is a scary looking nun to scare off the evil. It is completely private as no neighbours can look in, and even comes in with a beautiful tower room, where you have full view over the canal (Lijnbaansgracht) and can see the trams at Leidseplein.
For guests with any mobility issues or a disability that prevents you from using stairs, there is one long flight of very steep stairs up to this flat (very common for Amsterdam, but worth keeping in mind).
It is 200 meters or 5 minutes walk to Leidseplein, Vondelpark and Rijksmuseum which will make your stay very special and comfortable.
Shopping street Leidsestraat and PC Hoofdstraat are literally around the corner, and around the house you have plenty of Art Galleries and antique storesto sneak around.
The area in where my apartment is at is called de Weteringbuurt due to all street names starting with Wetering, and sometimes also the Spiegel area, due to the Spiegelstraat which is famous all around the world for the antique stores.
There are 2 majore bicycle rentals 3 minute walk away, and public transport hub Leidseplein is 2 minutes walk: Tram 1,2,5, 7 and 10 cross there. Trams 24 and 25 pass Weteringcircuit which is 1 minute away.
The location is perfect because you are in the middle of everything, yet it is very quiet with beautiful views on the canal with the private boots passing along, and the street with the bicycles and people strolling through Amsterdam.
The studio comes with all luxury facilities, kitchen, coffee machine, fridge, washing machine, dryer, couch, table, separate bathroom with large windows at the back.
Welcome to Amsterdam, welcome home!
Generally I expect my guests to treat my place as if its your own. Please take care of the neighbours, and greet everyone you come across. There are only two other appartments in the house, but since you all use the same entrance door please always take care that the door is closed when you leave
We really enjoyed our stay at Volker's studio flat. It was a lovely apartment with everything you could need for a weekend break! We were contacted by and met by Bart who was really nice. We didn't arrive until late in the evening and Bart was really great about this. The flat is perfectly located, within walking distance of many of the major museums/galleries. However it is far enough out of the centre not to feel touristy/noisy. We loved our visit and would stay here again.
Amazing location. Spacious apartment with good views. Great service. Steep stairs but hey, that's Europe. Would highly recommend.
Fantastic flat! There is a very cozy vibe to the flat and the neighborhood as well. For location, Volker's place is ideal. It is a short walk away from the Rijksmuseum and the Heineken Brewery. The views from the flat are phenomenal as well as you overlook one of the beautiful canals of Amsterdam. The flat itself is great. Although, it is a studio apartment, it feels larger than that. It also has some quirky decorations that make you feel at home. I highly recommend this place! Thanks Volker and Bart!
Accueil chaleureux et ponctuel. L'appartement était génial ! Le quartier est tranquil et des commerces sont a proximité. Sans fautes !
Exquisite location, nice flat with a huge plant that almost let us feel it was part of the family, scary fire-alarm as I was cooking a meal for the kids but as for the welcoming, Bart was really helpful on the phone to solve this unexpected event :)
The sober and well equipped furniture were perfect for a three-night stay.
The kids felt very much at home, fascinated by the birds on the canal.
And the area has its peculiar private atmosphere which is really pleasant !
