  • Bruce was great, took care of us in a timely and well-communicated fashion, and the price was right. My group really liked the location, which is super close to many of the breweries/restaurants east of the river, and a short ride to downtown.

  • Bruce was great. Everything was easy. What I want to rave about is the bathtub. There is a good reason the listing is fronted by a picture of the tub. It was an awesome man-bath. I felt like an old west bank robber chilling my heals after a big haul in a big city hotel. sprawled out, shaving in the tub and dousing my hair with the spray handle. Best bath I've ever had.

One other thing; the set of three rooms worked out perfect for our group of six. We were traveling as two families with single parents. Dad and two son's in one room with the three twin beds. The other family: Mom in the Queen room; the two girls sharing the King room. Perfect.

    That's all.

  • Bruce was a great host! He made our stay perfect--he's very friendly when we happened to cross paths & his house is so comfortable, clean, & absolutely stunning! It was the perfect mixture of lush hotel meets old world charm, everything we needed was at our fingertips. We'll likely try to stay with him again next time we visit Portland!

  • We stayed in Bruce's beautifully restored, comfortable house for one night as we were driving from Seattle to California. Bruce was such a welcoming host and our rooms were very cosy. Portland is such a great town and Bruce's house is in a gorgeous suburb, close driving distance to everything. Thank you Bruce!

  • Bruce was super accommodating and flexible. His place is lovely and instantly feels like a home. He has done a great job with the remodel and takes a lot of pride in his home. I would definitely recommend his place to Portland travelers.

  • Bruce has such a beautiful home and we were lucky enough to use it for our photo shoot. Everything was absolutely perfect & Bruce was a wonderful host! He made sure we had everything we needed. I hope to be back again someday soon!

  • I wish that I could buy this gorgeous home! Bruce has done a marvelous job of creating a warm and beautiful home to entertain those of us lucky enough to visit charming Portland. Bruce loves his home, neighborhood and State and it shows! He is a warm and gracious host. Full of information and good will. I cannot wait to visit again with my family. Our 5 yr old son was right at home, Bruce a father himself, created a relaxed and child friendly environment for us. His home is filled with lovely art, but fragile items are not at every turn and so we were not on pins and needles with our son and that was a huge relief. The neighborhood is close to Whole Foods, The Rose City Food Truck court, cafes, shops... and a charming tree lined neighborhood. The bed was glorious.. as comfortable as ours at home. The bedding was so lovely, I checked the tag so I could purchase the same! Ha! The bathroom was a dream.. we all took luxurious baths in the claw foot tub while gazing out the sky light. The front porch is huge, protected and a fantastic place to enjoy a glass of wine and listen to the rain and gaze out at the wisteria vines. The back yard has a platform and space to do yoga... Perfection. I cannot wait to go back. We fell madly in love with Portland and may just have to move there! Oh and he had wine and donuts for us too! Seriously! He was just showing off at that point.

  • The house is a lovely old Craftsman bungalow in a leafy green neighborhood of similar homes. It really is as nice as in the photos.Bus stop is 2 blocks away - one easy bus ride over the river to the west side. Bring a pair of slippers or comfy socks for wearing inside the house! We had mostly good weather, but I spend one afternoon curled into an armchair drinking tea and watching the rain fall. I would even like to come back in the rainy season and take a bath in the beautiful bathroom in the claw foot tub and watch the rain hitting the skylight overhead! I was in the twin room with a girlfriend (comfortable beds!), but next time when I come with my husband I'll be taking the king room, or the queen room with a view of the pretty neighborhood.

About
Greetings! I call Portland home. Having worked in Television Broadcasting for over 24 years as a Design Director I have always had a passion for the arts, photography, design and remodeling. Wine, cooking and traveling are also high on the list! Portland is a great creative town. An amazing amount of culture abound. Portlandia has definitely put us on the map. I love to travel and the best experience is feeling comfortable and welcome wherever you end up. Having lived abroad, traveling in New Zealand and Australia I gained a fondness for guest houses, seeking out creative stays all along the adventure. I am excited to share my beautiful home, some of my favorite restaurants and neighborhood highlights with new friends that I am looking forward to meeting ...and hearing where your travels have taken you!
