Quite honestly we had an amazing retreat which exceeded our expectations in every way. Auriel and Moz' magical homestead is perfectly situated halfway between Seattle and Portland and just a short distance off the highway out in the quiet countryside. No light pollution here, perfect for star gazing. Our kind hosts made us feel very welcome, even offering us organic eggs and greens from the 120 acre plus farm. The comfortable 2 bedroom apartment was very clean and meticulously crafted. The pictures in the posting do not do it justice. Their unique crystal saltwater spa and pool were incredible, very relaxing and something you might expect to find at a 5 star resort. Surrounding the courtyard and hot tub you will find several large crystals that light up through the night via fiber optics. We found this magical place to be very relaxing and restorative.

Response from Kathleen:
Andrew, his family and friends were delightful guests. I'm glad the weather held for them to enjoy the pool yard along with the hot-tub. We had much fun showing the children the many delights of rearing animals on a family farm. They also enjoyed eating produce that was harvested from our gardens. Late Saturday, we had a campfire to warm the guests for a night of star gazing. Andrew and his people were excellent guests who we would love to see return to Dragon's Gate Gardens anytime.

Very nice, spacious place, nicely furnished and very new, we must have been among the first guests to stay there. Very uncommon (but pleasant!) is the heated outdoor pool and hot tub - enjoyed that quite a bit in the afternoons. The hosts have been very friendly and communicative and tried to help us with all questions we had. The house is on a farm (very rural area) so you get to see lots of animals - would also be a great place for kids. On the downside (and that's why we didn't give 5 stars) there was still a lot of development activity going on on the outside (landscaping, building, ...) hence it was a bit noisy during the day. Also, since the place is so new there were still some things missing in the apartment (kitchen utensils and such) ... Bottom line is - we enjoyed staying there despite the little flaws and the place is definitely a recommendation, especially once the outside work is finished.

My husband and I are from the Northwest. I lived in Seattle my whole life until five years ago when we moved to this beautiful place in the country. The city has much to offer, but the country life is where we want to be. We love the quiet of the farms and the vibrant wildlife that surrounds us.
