No 4 is in a quiet, self-contained close set in beautiful Monmouthshire countryside. Your accommodation is a secluded and private suite of rooms.
You'll get a great welcome at the house - especially from our friendly Flat-Coated Retriever and his equally friendly owners. Double and single rooms are both available and the large bath-room with walk-in shower is for your sole use, all recently redecorated and refurbished to a very high standard.
We're also well-known for our breakfasts - locally-produced bread, bacon and sausages are something of a speciality: the local area boasts some of the best meat suppliers anywhere in the UK, but if you prefer a fruity, vegetarian breakfast we can do that too!
The letting is particularly good for musicians looking for somewhere to chill, and rehearse in wonderful (large) music room, but really its chief charm is the chance to relax, take in the views, walk, do as much / as little as you want. There's a large relaxing garden, private on-drive parking, internet access, and it's all on one floor so disabled / wheelchair-friendly.
There's an AA award winning pub in the village (White Hart, Llangybi), and fabulous walking to be had either locally or further afield in the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons.
There are lots of historical sites - ancient churches and castles (Raglan, Usk, Tregrug), Caerleon Roman settlement, Tredegar House in Newport and many more . We're about 3 miles from Usk, known for its pubs, Open Gardens, and Summer & Winter festivals: we're also convenient for the increasingly popular Raglan Music Festival. More than happy to welcome golfers - No.4 is close (15 mins by car) to Celtic Manor Golf course (Ryder Cup/Welsh Open etc), and there are a number of other courses locally.
Cardiff is 22 miles to the west along the M4, Bristol is 33 miles in the opposite direction. For Abergavenny and the Black Mountains & Brecon Beacons, go north (Abergavenny about 30 mins by car).
Come and pay us a visit - we'd love to see you.
Andrew and Anne were both extremely hospitable and friendly. The accommodation was stunning with lovely views, comfy bed and what seemed like a brand new bathroom. Andrew and Anne kept us entertained all evening and we enjoyed sharing food and stories and playing with Jeeves the dog. Many thanks to you both.
We enjoyed our time in Llangybi immensely. Andrew and Anne were the perfect hosts; they made us feel very welcome. They were very happy to share information on their little corner of Wales, which was greatly appreciated, and were very warm and personable taking time out of their busy lives to sit and chat over breakfast. Jeeves, their dog, is an absolute delight.
The bedroom is a bit tight, but they invited us to use their home as if it were ours - the kitchen, TV in the lounge, and even the office/music room next to our room as a place to sit and read, use computers, etc. The bed was very comfortable. We had exclusive use of the bathroom across the hall, which was spacious and modern. Lovely shower. Everything was spotlessly clean.
The home itself is in a beautiful neighborhood with an excellent inn, the White Hart Village Inn, just down the road. Cozy bar with a brilliant open hearth. Great restaurant - the chef uses as much local and organic foods in his menus as possible to delicious effect. Very friendly staff as well. Definitely worth at least one meal while you’re there.
There’s much to do in the area. We especially enjoyed Big Pit, the coal museum in Blaenavon. We also drove up Sugarloaf, a “mountain” just inside the Brecon Beacons National Park. You can drive almost to the summit, and then walk the rest of the way up. Beautiful views of the valley below even from the car park. The park deserves more attention than we could give it in our short stay.
Thanks, Andrew and Anne, for an exceptionally warm visit!
Thank you so much. It was a delight and a joy to have you both here. As far as the towel rail is concerned, I must own up to an 'ooops' moment - had turned it off and omitted to turn it back on before you came; sorry. Glad you enjoyed the Beacons National Park: on certain days in the Autumn and Spring, the view is awesome. Anyway, happy to have you back at any time.
We've had a wonderful time in the fantastic house of Andrew, Anne and their pretty dog Jeeves. We sat together and enjoyed a great breakfast and a lovely chat. A fantastic quiet! We left so relaxed. Thank you!
We wanted a relaxing away-from-the-city break, and boy did we get it. Absolutely wonderful environment with the most charming hosts in Andrew and Ann (not forgetting Britain's friendliest dog, Jeeves).
Idyllic location with plenty to do, or not do if your heart wishes. As mentioned elsewhere, the local pub is both welcoming and an excellent restaurant. We ended destressed to a point that Ann was forced to mention how much better we looked leaving than arriving.
We shall certainly return as this becomes our default venue for getting away from it all, and if you believe there are better hosts on this site, I implore you to prove yourselves wrong and visit immediately.
Wonderful experience and thank you both
We stayed here during our weekend trip to Wales. We get a very warm welcome and we felt very comfortable from the beginning. Andrew and Anne were also very helpful. They gave us good tips for our trip, looked for the best possible ways to get there and gave us a good map. For breakfast, we had a lot of choice (cereals, cheese, jam etc.) In addition, Ann made us sausages, egg and ham. The breakfast was very tasty! We will definitely stay here again!
Andrew and Anne are the most wonderful hosts and we couldn't rate staying with them more highly. We were welcomed into their home and their village. They recommended the White Hart pub which was delicious and we had a great breakfast the next morning. Our dog had a wonderful time too! It was a great way to break the journey - really recommend it as a halfway point to Pembrokshire.
This place is a gem! If you are coming to Wales you must stay at this BnB, Andrew and Ann are the perfect hosts, friendly and always happy to give advice or suggest walks etc. but you still get all the privacy you want with separe sleeping area and sole-use bathroom.
The place is spotless, the room and bathroom are brand new, the bed is ultra comfy and the huge shower makes you wish you had it at your own home. If anything the place is slightly under-priced for what you get!
I can highly reccomend this place, my husband and I are already looking forward to our next visit as we are already missing the georgeous breakfast with the amezing view.
This truly is a "home away from home".
