1 - 1.5 hours from each park: Zion, Bryce, north rim Grand Canyon (opens May 15, 2026), Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, Lake Powell. We LIVE ONSITE downstairs. Make yourselves at home in the upper two levels of our "Meyeres Mini Mansion" Burro Flats High Desert Lodge! Only 5 MINUTES DRIVE from Kanab city center, with plenty of space to relax and enjoy the view. Plenty of free parking on site for OHV and ATV groups, or travel vans.

The space
2nd largest home in Kanab on 3 acres with nothing but open country and spacious, sunset views behind. We call it the 'Burro Flats Lodge.' This home and location are so beautiful and it makes us happy for visitors to enjoy it, too.

Hosts on site (in separate downstairs apartment with our own kitchen, bathroom, entry/exit, etc)!

Central home base location! Our town of Kanab, Utah is a popular destination because it is located in the heart of scenic parks & attractions, including:

Zion - 1 hour drive
Bryce - 1 hour 20 minutes drive
North rim of Grand Canyon (open May 15-Nov 30) - 1 hour 15 minutes drive
Lake Powell/Antelope Canyon/Horseshoe Bend- 1 hour 15 minutes drive

Or stay right here in Kanab and enjoy sand caves, Belly of the Dragon fun tunnel, summer swimming at Jackson Flat reservoir, a free tour at Best Friends Animal Society, live entertainment, guided hikes of Peekaboo slot canyon, outdoor local markets and more; there is so much to do here! 5 minutes drive away are two full sized grocery stores, several delicious restaurants and a friendly visitor center.

HOSTS ON SITE: We live on site on the lowest level; leaving 2 stories and nearly 5,000 square feet for visitors. If you book this listing then you will reserve our guest space for your group EXCLUSIVELY (you will be the only guests)!

You will still see us outside from time to time, though, and we'll be available to answer your questions or help you out. This is a unique situation in that you will likely be meeting and interacting with the hosts.

Two wifi routers ensure GREAT, high speed Internet connection and cell phone service is also excellent.

You can make plans and research online, send or upload photos and videos, attend a virtual meeting, or talk on your mobile phone

Perfect for families, sight seeing, off road adventures, business retreats, youth or church group trips, and for sets of hikers wanting a "base camp."

We welcome responsible, friendly guests of all ages, language, culture, religion, heritage and lifestyle.

The bedrooms each have their own "real" bed. And then each of the rooms also have a sofa futon sleeper (some more comfortable than others, but none of them as comfy as the 'real' beds).

10 adults can comfortably sleep here, especially if they don't mind sharing a room or larger bed with another adult. So 6-10 adults depending on how much privacy and "real" beds to themselves that everyone needs.

About bringing children: Kids of all ages are most welcome as part of the total group, up to a maximum of 10 people (please let us know how many children and ages of children and we will let you know if that can realistically and comfortably work... it's not "10 adults and then as many kids as we can cram in the house”)!

However, common areas and some of the rooms are NOT CHILD SAFE. There are 4 flights of stairs, lots of breakable decor including antiques, tall (unstable) furniture that could topple over onto a child, lots of sharp corners and edges, etc.

Extremely vigilant supervision is required for toddlers and young children. The home is not "kiddie-proofed."

Rowdy play, running, jumping, rough housing, etc. is allowed OUTSIDE ONLY in the driveways or at the Ranchos park just a few blocks away. Guests responsible for damage.

THE LAYOUT:

Take advantage of the large, furnished common areas on the main floor (which are just for you, we have our own living areas downstairs).

Included:

~Large kitchen fully outfitted with basic necessities such as appliances, utensils and dishes
~Farm style dining table (seats 10)
~Living room with 3 couches, 24 feet high ceiling, built in benches, large screen TV (local channels only— no cable)
~Gigantic, 3-tiered, stacked 3-high picture windows (panel of 9 windows)
~Pool / billiards table

~Covered deck with electrical outlets, and sunset views
~Half bathroom with toilet and sink

Upstairs common areas include:

~Large, indoor balcony (mezzanine/loft). Please do not water, rotate or otherwise tend to the houseplants scattered throughout the home.

~2 hall bathrooms upstairs (1 with shower and 1 with combination shower/bath).

~Closet with board games, cards, some sports equipment

~Linen closet with extra blankets and pillows

The Bedrooms:

~Main floor master suite includes private bath that is part of the room. There is a doored toilet for privacy. The shower has two heads. There is an opaque shower curtain covering the entryway to the shower for privacy. The large, jetted soaker tub for two and two vanity sinks are in the open, main part of the suite, so no privacy for those.
The main part of the suite houses a king sized bed, a single size futon & lots of windows!
There is also a large walk-in closet which includes single sized futon and can be a bonus sleeping area. The only way to enter or exit this closet/bonus room is through the main part of the master suite. It's great for a child or two since it keeps them close to parents or grandparents while still giving a bit of nighttime privacy to the adults.

~Upstairs 'British Adventure Room' with window view of front yard and plateaus beyond, queen size bed, dresser (no closet), mirror, hairdryer and ceiling fan with bedside controls. Individual sized futon sofa sleeper.

~Upstairs 'Frontier Room' with queen sized bed plus double sized futon. En suite (in the room) attached, doored bathroom with shower. Window with sunset views of open land and red cliffs behind property.

~Upstairs 'Garden Room' with queen sized bed plus small, SHORT individual sized futon (67 inches/170cm long). This room has its own doored, attached bathroom with shower. Window with sunset views of open land and red cliffs behind property.

~Upstairs 'Independence Room' with large, doored, attached bathroom including deep soaker bathtub/shower. Window view of front yard, large closet, queen sized bed, seating area (this is the upstairs master bedroom and is nearly 500 square feet of space), angled ceilings.

Other things to note
We are 5 star SuperHosts in a very desirable area, so we book up pretty quickly! We currently have a few spots left for this year or for more flexibility, please book next year's adventure today! :) We're here and ready to help if you have any questions after carefully looking over the listing, rules and amenities.

Neighborhood highlights

Rural, yet within city limits. At least an acre between house and closest neighbor.

Stars including Milky Way are visible nightly under favorable conditions (when there aren't moon or clouds to compete with stars).

Grocery stores, restaurants, pharmacy, etc are a 5 minute DRIVE away in the center of town.

If you love Southwestern wildlife then you'll enjoy spotting quail, jackrabbits, cottontails and ground squirrels right on the property (please keep exterior doors to house CLOSED to prevent our animal neighbors from coming inside, though!). Further in the distance you might see an occasional coyote or family of mule deer passing through!

Hi! We're Nicholas & Celeste Meyeres, and our home that we share with visitors is Burro Flats High Desert Lodge! We adore the Southwestern high desert, nature, wildlife and meeting new people! This is Nicholas’ full-time, as well as dream job! Before welcoming guests in our home, he was a manager at a top rated country club in Kansas for 6 years, but Kanab is where he plans to live forever! Celeste is a knits designer who has created over 6,000 scarves, throw blankets, etc by hand: Including a shawl for Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac. She owns CricketsKnits (ask if you're curious to see her "yarn dungeon" basement studio during your stay!). In 2013 we bought a huge home on 3 acres with nothing but open country and spacious views behind (and GREAT wifi connection!). This home and location makes us feel so happy and free and that is why we love to share it with visitors :) We live in the downstairs of the three level house (the 2nd largest in Kanab), with separate kitchen, bathroom, et cetera, so you'll mainly only see us at check in and check out (when we welcome you and then when we say "Bon voyage, see you next time!") Unless, of course, you'd like to ask questions, get directions or just chat; we're here for you at *your* level of comfort. :) We welcome responsible, easy-going guests of all ages, language, culture, heritage and lifestyle. Unless you reserve the entire upper two floors, you will most likely be interacting with other guests in our home during your stay; this is a friendly and social environment with everyone being considerate and cohabiting peacefully. Our home has a sort of super nice hostel feel, or like a B&B except with a DIY, bare-bones breakfast. :)
