This mountain hideaway was exactly as represented--a delightfully eclectic home. Matt welcomed us in person to show us the ropes and answer any questions. I definitely felt as ease after meeting Matt! He left a lovely gift -- a bottle of wine (we are going to look for this label!), cheese, crackers, fruit. The kitchen is very well appointed, and Matt made us feel entirely comfortable about using items in the open pantry and the abundant supply of china, pots, pans, utensils--everything one might dream of ! The grounds are absolutely magical--and the location is very quiet. Matt gives great directions for getting to the location which is a few twists and turns from the highway. This home was perfect for us!
This house was magical, peaceful and comfortable. We loved it here. The directions were clear, and Matt (the host) was there to greet us and make us feel welcome. It's up on a hill where you can really feel away from everything, yet it was a short drive to Calistoga.
The kitchen was completely well-stocked with anything that would be needed for cooking, as well as a nice bottle of wine and some cheese. The house is decorated with a unique sense of whimsy, and the outdoor spaces as well. It felt incredibly peaceful. We look forward to returning!
This place is amazing. I spent a weekend here with friends, with every intent of spending a day in Calistoga touring shops and a nice dinner out... but the house was so gorgeous, well-equipped, comfortable, and peaceful that we ended up spending the entire weekend without entering town once. The deck, complete with plentiful birds, bright green foliage, blossoming flowers, shade and sunlight, table w/chairs, couch, etc is where we spent most of our time. When night fell we enjoyed the woodburning stove and the quiet, chatting around the kitchen island while preparing a meal in the well-designed/fully-equipped kitchen, and private bedrooms. Matt (the host) was friendly and very available, but not at all intrusive. Instructions for check-in/check-out and details of house use were clear and easy to understand. If you are looking for somewhere quiet and peaceful, with downtown Calistoga just 10 minutes away, then this is a great option. If you love art and thoughtfully designed interior and exterior spaces, then this place is a delight.
Lovely spot! We had a great stay with good friends. Such fun. Well equipped kitchen, deck, porches. Clean and comfortable sleeping rooms. We thoroughly enjoyed it and would jump at the chance to visit again.

About the Host, Matt
We are professionals who love to travel, surf, and Art of all kinds. We fell in love with this house for its secluded forested location, and our ability to weave into it a love of gardening and art. As well as a love of food, wine, and cooking. This house is perfect for staying 'in' and just hanging out, enjoying the garden and fountain, and seeing the sites so close by. Bothe state park is a short drive for fantastic hikes, and amazing wineries in every direction.
