About this listing
Delicious penthouse in the heart of Leblon.
Perfect for one person and / or couple who want to stay in the best point of Rio de Janeiro.
Two blocks nearby Leblon Beach, the apartment is located among the most famous bars and restaurants in the South Zone of Rio de Janeiro: Jobi, Pizzaria Guanabara, Diagonal, BB Lanches and SushiLeblon.
Leblon Beach went "under renovations" in the early 90's. The eroded sand strip became too narrow, and part of it was reclaimed. Now it is as wide as Ipanema. The water is still not suitable for swimming after it rains, though. There is a famous baby-boomer spot across from Rua Venâncio Flores. This is where young Leblon mothers and their babies get their daily dose of tropical sun, early in the morning.
Main street Ataulfo de Paiva was recently refurbished with project Rio Cidade. Like in Ipanema the street lights, signs and even public phones are unique. Many corners gained charming wooden seats. Stop and sit for a while to watch the pedestrians passing by, and maybe you will understand why Cariocas have a permanent love affair with Leblon.

The location is unbeatable , and I love the unique open-air design. Walking distance to the beach and all of the best shops and restaurants in town. Comfortable bed, especially by Brazilian standards. Outdoor shower on the varanda is an amazing feature and a huge plus! Amazing degree of convenience all around.
This is a beautiful and cozy flat in the absolute best location in Rio. Literally less than a stone's throw away from the best breweries, bakeries, and restaurants in the city, and of course Posto 12, the best part of the urban beach. The feel is a bit rustic but the best advantage of the flat is the amount of natural light and open air. This is truly swanky tropical living at its finest! I like the place so much that I decided to stay for six months, and I know that given the views of Christ from the Varanda, I will be sorry when I leave!
Adorei o apartamento!
Muito arejado e muito limpo! Toalhas e lençóis muito cheirosos!!
A localização é perfeita!
A Yara foi muito atenciosa ao nos receber dando dicas do que é legal no bairro!
Voltaria a ficar hospedada com certeza!
The location is definitely in the middle of Leblon and one block away from various top restaurants and bars. The apartment was also very clean and as shown in the pictures but in a very old building with inadequate infrastructure. There is only one wall mounted old (and fairly noisy) air-conditioning unit that is only accommodating the bedroom area. There is no sound or hear isolation in the other areas of the apartment so if you spend some time in the kitchen or living room during the day, the temperature is increasingly going up making it quite uncomfortable to stay indoors. Also it is not allowed to cook in the kitchen (due to the inadequate electric cabling) which was not great in case you would like to do some grocery shopping and prepare a home made meal. Yara was fairly personable and accomodated some minor issues that I had with the WiFi quickly. Recommended if you are not planning to spend much time indoors and use it simply as a place to sleep outside Brazilian summer season.
Yara's apartment in the center of Leblon was the perfekt apartment for me and my boyfriend.
it was super easy to get the keys - because Yara is living next door. Since she doesn't speak english we arranged everything with her daughter - which wasn't a problem or complicated at all.
Concerning the apartment: one can totally trust the fotos. It has a bedroom ( 1,40m wide bed (unfortunately it seems to be a bit broken on one side) a leather couch, tv and cupboard + space in front for suitcases and stuff ) small bathroom, a kitchen with 2 sitting areas - as well as a nice terrace (facing north as i can remember, but nevertheless has sun during summer) - AND: an outdoor shower!
it was tidy and big enough for 2 persons. Yara is super nice, caring and helpful.
She even offered to shower at her place, since our flight was in the evening and we had to check out till 10:00 because of the next guests arriving.
i would definitely recommend this place!
Yara's apartment was extremely spacious and comfortable. It was located in a great spot, near bars, restaurants and the beach.
Just a heads-up to visitors that this isn't the easiest place to find. The apartment's address is shared by at least three other buildings. Look for the gate next to a restaurant called Papaya. That's where you're going. Take the elevator up to the 8th floor and then follow the staircase to the top floor. Knock on the door on the right for your key.
Also, do your research in advance. In past AirBnb stays, the host has left us a map that highlights nearby restaurants, grocery stores, etc. These weren't provided here. Yara didn't speak English and we didn't speak Portuguese so we had to do some exploring. Fortunately there are at least two Zona Sul grocery shops near the apartment.
The bedding and towels were very clean. There was only one roll of toilet paper so we had to pick up some more. There was also no cleaning supplies in the apartment that we could find. Yara also asked us not to cook in the apartment.
Finally, you can't flush toilet paper in Brazil, so bring some extra plastic bags so the small trash can in the bathroom doesn't start to sink.
Overall, I recommend this apartment. Just be prepared to do a little investigating. There were no instructions left out for how to deal with trash, etc. Every time we asked Yara a question she was very responsive and friendly.
