Great cabin, loved it! We especially liked the full kitchen with a large dining table that easily seated 8 of us. We were in Maine for Sunday River skiing / snowboarding - 20 minute drive.
The bedroom and bathrooms were clean and well furnished. The hot tub unfortunately never got hot but it was quite warm so we spent one evening there. Kathy mentioned I should have texted her to get someone to fix it. Oh well... She responded to emails and text quickly. The cabin does not have wifi, and the cell phone reception is not 3G / 4G / LTE but there is some data service & good voice call service.
Loved the VHS tapes of Lion King and Alladin. It was a surprise we all enjoyed - chatting about tapes, not rewinding, pausing, etc. Ha ha.
There were a bunch of board games we didn't end up using. The fireplace was lovely and we used it one evening.
Highly recommend it. Great price and very convenient to get to from Boston. Stop at Hannaford's in Oxford to pick up groceries.
Kathy's cabin was truly a delight. We were looking for an escape from the stresses of campus life and we couldn't have found a better one--the fireplace was wonderful, the open living room/kitchen area was a great place to sprawl, and the outdoor hot tub was heavenly.
The attention to detail was also pretty mind-boggling--the house is fully stocked with any board-game you can imagine and there are pillows/blankets everywhere, making the whole experience warm, cozy & fun.
The Bethel area is also pretty nice too! We didn't get to explore as much as we'd like, but we're eager to come back in the Spring and do it again, hopefully for a bit longer. Thanks Kathy!
This is our second time staying in Kathy's beautiful Mousse Lodge in the last year, and winter there was just as wonderful as summer! We didn't even bother taking advantage of the skiing and other winter activities in the area because it was so lovely to just relax around the fire and chill out. Everything is very comfortable and well-provisioned -- we brought food and not much else; the cabin has most of what you'll need during your stay. As someone with food allergies and very high food standards who routinely travels with other people with allergies/restrictions, airbnb and cabins like Kathy's make vacations restful for me. I'm looking forward to planning another trip here in the spring!
A couple of specifics: everything is very clean, well-maintained, and sensibly organized so you'll be able to readily find everything you need, the thermostats are surprisingly effective for a cabin, there was ample room for all eight adults to eat around the table, comfortable parking for all four Jeeps in the drive, and the only thing that was lacking from the kitchen was a good cutting board. While I recommend taking a four-wheel drive vehicle in the snow (the last mile is unpaved), the roads were very clear and we could have easily gotten something less robust than the Jeep through the last stretch.
I would rent Kathy's place again.
Kathy's cabin was exactly the place for much needed rest and relaxation. While 4 bedrooms was large for my fiance and I, we enjoyed the hot tub and the very cozy fireplace. The kitchen was well stocked with almost everything we needed, and the cabin is very centrally located to a lot of very fun places in Maine. Kathy was wonderfully helpful before the trip and she left us with a basket of local information, maps, and fun things to do in the area. It was a perfect place to stay for a ski trip and I would consider making the trip back up to Maine knowing that this cabin is here as a home away from home.
We stayed at Kathy's lodge during Columbus weekend and enjoyed a wonderful time.
The lodge is very cozy and welcoming; it feels like staying at a friend's home. Games for the children, fully equipped kitchen, comfortable bedrooms...
And we hiked every day in the neighboring mountains to discover waterfalls, lakes and villages under the beautiful light of the Maine foliage.
Highly recommended, we will be back!

We had amazing family time in Kathy's cabin. The house is much bigger and beautiful than the pictures. We had a very delicate and nice attention from Kathy when we arrived. The whole cabin is very confortable in a beautiful area with plenty of activities to do.
Thank you again Kathy. We hope to be back soon
We were a group of 6 people and stayed at the cabin for a weekend. The booking process was dead easy, Kathy was very responsive, timely and most importantly, the place was just amazing.
We kayaked, swam, hiked, cooked, made smores in the fire pit, played board games, lounged in the hot tub and star gazed at night! Because there is no light pollution, the night sky is just unbelievable (we saw 3 shooting stars one night!).
It was one of the best weekends we've ever had and we definitely look forward to returning.
