The space

Located inside Yatachhen house , a beautiful conservation project of Newari architecture.

The house has been entirely renovated/ rebuilt 10 years ago with modern anti seismic method and the addition of concrete belts to assure extreme security in case of earthquake. It has paid off as the house didn't suffer of a single crack/ damage during the last earthquake that hit Nepal in April 2015. The house has been assessed by structural engineers and later used as emergency housing solutions for United Nation Staff following the event.

Charming single bedroom with attached bathroom, storage space, small desk area and direct attached roof terrace. Ideal for someone on a consulting mission, a volunteer or a single traveller.

The room is independent, has attached bathroom and full access to a beautiful roof terrace as well as a kitchen and a comfortable living room.

• Attached bathroom with bath and WC. Hot water from storage geyser
• Common kitchen/ living room to chill out or cook your own meals
• Washing machine
• Electricity backup for all-day power supply
• Free WIFI
• Gas heater in winter
• Free set of towels and linens changed every week
• Cleaning twice per week

Fabulous location: The house is quietly nested behind Swotha square, a few meters away from the magical Patan Durbar Square.

To resume :
• Situated in the heart of Patan historical city center (Swotha Square)
• Quietly nested inside a courtyard (no noise from the road!)
• Less than 100m away from Durbar Square and the Golden Temple
• 500m away from Patan Doka (Patan’s gate)

Yatachhen House literally means "living in Harmony"... give it a try!

Guest access

- Common kitchen/ living room to chill out or cook your own meals.
- Direct attached roof terrace.
- Courtyard
- Our office isjust on the ground floor of the house, where you can always find us to have a chat ;-)

Interaction with guests

We are always happy to help out our guests with anything they may need and have a nice chat with them.
Our guests can conveniently find us every morning in our Office located in the ground floor of Yatachhen House.
Being quite busy with our work, we have unfortunately not so much time for full cultural exploration along with our guests but are always happy to recommend them good guides for that.

The neighborhood

The Old Patan is a fantastic area to stay in. It is much more authentic and traditional than the tourist-spoiled places of Kathmandu/ Thamel and its concrete jungle. There are many hidden treasures to discover: hindu temples everywhere, Buddhist stupas, courtyards, secret paths, monasteries, local food spots...

The vibrant local life of the Newars (the original ethnic group of the Kathmandu Valley) guarantees you a very rich cultural experience.

Getting around

Located inside Yatachhen house, a beautiful conservation project of Newari architecture.

• Situated in the heart of Patan historical city center (Swotha Square)
• Quietly nested inside a courtyard (no noise from the road!)
• Less than 100m away from Durbar Square and the Golden Temple
• 500m away from Patan Doka (Patan’s gate)
• 20 min walk away from U.N. House, Sanepa area, Kupondole area
• 15 min ride to Thamel
• 20 min ride to the airport

Taxi can be found in Durbar Square at all time of the day and night.

There are two big public bus stations around (10 min walk away from us): Lagankel and Patan Doka.
From there you can go down to Kathmandu Ratna Park and to many places and villages around.

As a general fact, we discourage our guests to be systematically brought back by taxi or car until our front door (beside the first day of course!). The old Patan is a very fragile area and cannot handle too much traffic and pollution.
Ask the taxi to drop you in Mangal Bazar or in Patan Dhoka and have a walk in all those beautiful small alleys and courtyards to reach our house, it is much healthier and enjoyable for all ;-)

Other things to note

Jimi and Yuri are our community/courtyard dogs. They are adorable creatures, very kind and friendly. If ever they welcome you with a little bark, don't be afraid, it is just to greet you ;-)

Gas, water and electricity are very precious ressources here in Nepal, please use them very conscientiously. Small problems related to those ressources can always happen, we are reactive to fix things once informed but you need to be aware that Nepal is a country where you have to be adaptable ;-)

This was my second staying at Camille, Sailesh & Co's place and I loved it like the first time. If you want to have an intimate, friendly and more authentic staying in Nepal I would definitely recommend staying here.

Would definitely recommend staying here if you are searching for a place in this area. A nice combination of guest house and hotel features; very professional and at the same time so warm and casual. Very clean and just a beautiful place in a great spot.

The sunny attic room I stayed in was a cosy, sunny, full of character room with a private balcony above a beautiful Newari house 2 min walking from Durban square in Patam. All the staff was lovely and super professional and helpful especially after I got ill for the last 2 days of my staying. I truly felt I had my little dream room in Nepal and I couldn't recommend this more especially if you want to have a more authentic experience.

A beautiful home just few steps from Patan's Durbur square.. I really enjoyed staying there for many reasons, one being its location and its charm. It is the kind of place you wish you can take with you back home. Everyone was friendly and i appreciated the note explaining all the surroundings and where to eat and where you can find this and that (super helpful)..

The attic was such a unique and comfortable space for me to spend three days. It's centrally located to most everything you would want to see in Patan, and everything you will discover once you begin exploring the narrow lanes and side passages. There's so much to find around every corner. Camille and Sailesh were always available if I had any questions, and they greeted me each day with a smile. They employ a wonderful, equally friendly staff. The beautiful Newar decor all over the house and in the room made me glad I didn't book a hotel for my stay in Patan.

The whole Cosy Nepal Team was extremely friendly, welcoming and supportive. Attic room is indeed a cosy place. I have stayed there for three weeks and would recommend it to everyone who wants to spend relaxing days in a very charming and historic environment surrounded by open hearted people.

This was my second reservation with Camille and Sailesh and everything was just perfect with the attic room. Staying in this building really felt like being at home, being surrounded by all the extremely friendly people (and the lovely house dogs). The hosts were very flexible and managed to make arrangements so that I didn't need to change my room in the middle of my stay. Thank you again for all the hospitality and kindness throughout my stay!! This house is truly my happy place in Nepal. I am already planning a next trip to Patan, so I will hopefully see you again!

Camille, Sailesh & Co User ProfileCamille, Sailesh & Co is a superhost.

French travel enthousiast - I have lived in many country including Russia, Spain, Sweden, USA and now Nepal. Today my pleasure is to introduce people to unspoilt places of the Kathmandu Valley, especially the Old Patan where I live.
Very fond of old wood, architecture, animals and nature in general, experimental food and all things a bit curious.
I work with Sailesh, Sohan and Nigen, three delightful Nepali young men, full of energy and very keen in sharing their Newari culture as well as helping guests in any ways to have an amazing stay.
