Reasonable price and an amazing location! Experience the Real French Quarter!
Suite upstairs in an 1825 Creole house. We have a fantastic garden that we share with our neighbors. This is a lovely suite with a small bedroom and larger sitting room with a balcony and french doors where you can sit and enjoy the garden, Armstrong Park views and the passersby. Your private bathroom with tub/shower is adjacent. A utility room downstairs is equipped with a frig, microwave, water kettle, toaster and sink that you SHARE with the downstairs.
The building is nearing 200 years old and we do our best to preserve it for the future. It is a conservation (not a renovation) so understand that you will be staying in a piece of history and not at the W hotel. There is a steep narrow staircase, and old bathrooms that were added to the building in the 1920's. A wonderful balcony that was recently rebuilt for safety. We have done our best to preserve old paint finishes and wood patinas in the house. To make it comfortable we have added some modern touches like air conditioner units to the windows and updating the electric in the building. All electric and plumbing works well.
We live downstairs and are available as needed. Most of our guests never see us except during check-in, but, we are just a text away if you need anythingl Across from Louis Armstrong Park, and within 2 blocks of all the French Quarter's main attractions. There is net gear enabled tv with netflix, hulu plus, pandora and more and high speed wireless. Bourbon Street a 5 min walk away, with all the well-known jazz, blues, strip, gay and dance clubs all at your fingertips....... and the Treme (now famous from the HBO series) neighborhood to explore. We are only a few blocks from all the excitement but just out of the party zone so you can find peace and rest. Please note that this is city living - so there will be garbage trucks, then street sweepers, then the gardeners with leaf blowers in the morning - if you stayed out late at the clubs you may want to consider bringing some ear plugs with you to sleep in in the morning.
Please note that we only accept parties of 1 or 2 people - our place is not appropriate for groups. Please do not make a request if your party is more than 2 people. If you arrive with more than 2 people you will not be able to check-in.
If you are driving, expect the usual parking headaches of any big city. On a major bus line, just a few blocks from the famous street car lines, horse drawn carriages nearby and a taxi stand on the corner makes for easy getting around. There is also nearby and inexpensive bike rental.
We would be glad to welcome you - we are easy going, stress free folks in the Big Easy, you should be too. We would like to particularly encourage you to stay with us if you are thinking about a move to New Orleans - many of our guests have ended up becoming our neighbors. Come find out why this is the best place to live on earth! This is by far one of the best deals in town, location, location, location as they say - just steps from the best of New Orleans.
Interaction with Guests
Available if you need us - but otherwise you probably won't see us after check-in!
Other Things to Note
One or two people only - no groups! You will not be able to check-in if you have more than 2 people.
We aren't big on house rules - do unto others is the main one. In New Orleans we say "be nice or leave!"
It is a must must must to lock the gate when entering and leaving. No smoking in building or garden (smoking on the balcony is OK and we will provide an ash tray). No HEAVY drugs please ......and we are all grown ups but please exercise caution with who you bring back to your suite. It is important to understand that this is a busy mixed use urban neighborhood and offers all the great benefits and the ills of this. We wish you to have a safe and enjoyable visit to our village. Feel free to call on us anytime with any problem or situation. Thanks
This place was awesome, and our stay was extremely pleasant. Lyle and Vince provided all the amenities we could ever possibly need, and the apartment was adorable. The location was so convenient! Everything was within a short walk from where we stayed. We enjoyed our privacy while still maintaining the ability to contact our hosts with any questions or requests we had. Will definitely be staying here upon my next visit!
Great place. As described. Central. Seamless arrival and check out. Will go back next time in NOLA.
Our host was awesome! Vince met us at the door and walked us in showed us around. He was very laid back and made us feel really comfortable. He was also very responsive and helpful with tips for places to eat and getting around New Orleans. The place was exactly as described. As they say, it is an old building but it is being preserved beautifully. If you can appreciate staying in a historic home, you will be okay. If you come expecting hotel quality, this will fall short. For us, the charm of the house and super convenient location was wonderful and helped us fall in love with New Orleans. We were able to walk almost everywhere from here and there were some cool bars right down the block. Vince provided earplugs which were very helpful. There wasn't really any partying noise just normal city noise. After the first two nights I didn't even need the earplugs anymore. Overall, this was a great house to stay in and a great trip to the NOLA.
We met with Vince upon arrival. He was super flexible and laid back, my kinda people:) The apt was absolutely gorgeous and extremely comfortable. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for a traditional New Orleans style feel with one-of-a-kind art pieces beautifully displayed throughout. Not mad we didn't stay in a hotel!
Loved staying here. The accommodations and location were great. The host was so helpful and provided us with tips/suggestions throughout our trip. It was overall such a great stay. Not to mention, the bed was so comfortable! Will stay here again next time in town!
The host made me very comfortable and took care of all my questions and concerns. Very enjoyable stay!
This was not only the Real French Quarter, it was the Real Airbnb Experience. I've stayed in other cities, with other hosts, but none of them ever approached the level of hospitality that Lyle and Vince offered.
The apartment is amazing, the location is perfect, the price is insanely low, and you'll never stay anywhere as nicely appointed. Both myself and my girlfriend became determined to try to decorate our apartments with the same level of detail and style. Not to mention comfort.
I'm sad I only have 400 words left, because I could write essays about how much we loved our time here. We would DEFINITELY stay here again. Lyle and Vince are such warm, awesome hosts. They responded quickly to any questions, they made sure we had everything we needed, and they offered more solid advice on where to go and what to do than I have time to describe.
If you're reading this review, go ahead and book it. You'll never regret it. My only regret is writing such a glowing review, now I'm afraid it'll be booked the next time I can get down to New Orleans.
Thanks for a great trip Lyle and Vince!
