Sun Filled Loft for 2 near Boston

House - Private room · Stanley Rd, Belmont, MA 02478, United States

The Space

This sunny lofted bedroom is on a quiet residential street in Belmont, a suburb of Boston and Cambridge. It can accommodate up to 2 guests on two twin mattresses, which we can configure to your liking. You're sharing a house with a couple (Eleanor and Magnus) and two cats, all four friendly. You can use our kitchen, hang out in our living room or family room, and can do a couple of loads of laundry if needed. There is a shared full-bath on the second floor (where the entry to your loft is located) and a half-bath on the first floor. Wi-fi works everywhere in the house and in our backyard which includes a hammock and patio table with parasol.

Please note that the steps to the sleeping loft are quite steep; you have to be very comfortable navigating stairs to both the second floor and up the loft ladder.

There are many restaurants in Belmont Center - and a fabulous craft beer store - just a couple of minutes drive from us. There's also a supermarket within 15 minutes' walk, and The Sweet Peach, a Southern-Style Diner.

Transportation and Parking: You can park in our driveway - a full-sized rental car will comfortably fit.

Public transportation (a bus to Harvard Square and commuter rail to downtown Boston) is a 20 minute walk from here.

Location: We're 2 miles from Bentley University and 5 miles from Brandeis University; close to Harvard (4 1/2 miles / 15 minute drive), MIT(7 miles/20 minute drive), and Boston University (7 miles/ 20 minute drive).

We're quite knowledgeable about museums, things to do, and places to see in and around Boston. Eleanor used to live on Beacon Hill and Magnus in Harvard Square; both of us have lived in this area for over 20 years.

If you're a history buff, we're 6 miles from the Minute Man National Park and 10 miles from historic Concord Center , where you can visit Orchard House (where Louisa May Alcott lived, immortalized in Little Women) the Wayside, where Nathaniel Hawthorne lived, and the Concord Museum. Walden Pond is also a must-see in Concord.

Our backyard abuts 200 acres of preservation land where you can hike and mountain bike in lovely forests and meadows. Magnus is an avid biker and can tell you where the good routes are, both on-road and off.

We speak English, Icelandic, French and a little Spanish.

  • Eleanor and Magnus were amazing hosts! I have nothing but positive things to say about staying with them for 2 weeks. They were very welcoming and the whole stay was very comfortable. Their house is located just a few minutes walk away from McLean Hospital which was perfect for me.

  • The description and pictures I saw before I arrived were exactly what I experienced when I arrived! My hosts were very companionable, kind and interesting. I liked staying there very much. I also liked the running trails very close by.

  • Eleanor and Magnus were wonderful hosts. So helpful and accommodating. The location was absolutely perfect as it was right next to McLean hospital where I was doing a clinical training. I would absolutely stay with them again!

  • We had a wonderful stay with Eleanor and Magnus. They were incredibly hospitable and generous and they gave us lots of great advice for getting around the area. The room is really lovely and comfortable and the extra loft floor gives a lot of privacy. We would highly recommend staying here and we thank Eleanor and Magnus for such a great stay.

  • Eleanor and Magnus were such warm, knowledgeable hosts. And their loft space was bright, airy, clean, and quiet. It ended up being the perfect place to come back to and rest after a whirlwind day in Boston. Many thanks!

  • I had an excellent stay with Eleanor and Magnus. They were welcoming and helpful during my stay, and their home was comfortable and clean. Everything was exactly as I expected based on their description and other peoples' reviews. Unfortunately my trip was mainly for business and I was pretty busy with boring work, so I didn't have a chance to try out the nearby nature preserve or explore the local sites - that's my only regret!

  • Eleanor and Magnus are friendly and helpful. They provide a very useful notebook about details of traveling around. Because I am new to this area as a grad student, I did not travel. But they drove me to a market and told me the position of bus station. The loft and public areas are very clean and bright.
