Location

Bridport, Tasmania, Australia

Nestled in the quiet end of Bridport near Brid River, the beach is only 150 metres from our door and it's just a short stroll to the centre of town.

Villa 4 overlooks the tidal estuary 'Trent Water', home to native shorebirds and aquatic life, and offering gentle waters for wading, kayaking, fishing and swimming. There is also a boat ramp and dog exercise beach in this area.

Bridport itself is a beautiful coastal town set against the picturesque blue waters of Anderson Bay. Steeped in history, the town explodes in summertime, but is perfect for a visit year-round. Stunning wildflowers, accessible golf courses and secluded beaches are just a few of the attractions. You'll also find great coffee, colourful cafés and delightful restaurants overlooking the water.

Offering up an abundance of beach-side fun, there are nooks and crannies throughout the coast that hide white sand beaches, perfect for escaping the fast pace of modern life. There are also plenty of coastal parks for a family barbeque after a day on the beach.

Bridport is surrounded with reserves. The Bridport Wildflower Reserve bursts to life every spring with a striking range of colours that attracts birds and bird lovers from all over the region. You'll find a stunning streak of colour inside the Granite Point Conservation Area, however, all the reserves around town contain natural treasures including waterfalls, towering sand dunes, unique wildlife and inspiring coastal views.

In the east of Bridport, you'll find some of the world's best golf courses. With a similar feel to the rugged, windswept golf courses of Scotland, the makers of Barnbougle Dunes and its sister course Lost Farm built the courses right into Bridport's towering sand dunes.

For fishing enthusiasts, you can charter a boat for sports fishing in the Bass Strait or hire a small boat for Anderson Bay. You can also just drop your line in off the rocks.

There's no better way to connect with a loved one than in a romantic setting like Bridport. The outdoors are full of adventures and solitude, while the nearby wineries add to the ambience. Families love to visit Bridport for its resort lifestyle, beaches and the variety of restaurants.

Bridport has something for everyone!

ACTIVITIES & THINGS TO SEE:

* Two of Tasmania's best mountain bike parks (Blue Derby and Hollybank Wilderness Adventures), attract riders from around the world. Set in some of the best forests in the world, they are each under 45 minutes drive away.

* Pipers Brooke Vineyard, established in 1974, produces fruit for the internationally acclaimed Kreglinger and Ninth Island wines. Take a tour of the winery and have a seat at the Winery Café for a relaxing view of the vineyard. Open daily, it's the perfect place for a glass of wine or a coffee.

* The Bridestowe Lavender Estate comes to life in December with wildflowers that bloom through January. This 265-acre manicured lavender field contains beautiful gardens that attract tourists year-round.

* The beautiful Cleone’s Secret Garden is just a 5 minutes drive. You will find a gorgeous range of indoor and outdoor plants and giftware, and kids will enjoy the experience discovering hidden ornaments in the garden. In winter, you can sit by an outdoor fire pit.

* The world famous Barnbougle Golf Courses take advantage of the rugged northeast coast of Tasmania to make for challenging courses. You'll play over beaches that turn into rolling hills, and you'll hit shots through dunes. It's worth a visit even if you don't play golf to enjoy the excellent hospitality, food and local wine.

* The area is certainly not short of golf clubs. Closer to home, Bridport golf course is a 9-hole course supported by 18 tees. The course has tree lined fairways and manicured greens. There are also courses at nearby Scottsdale and Tam O'Shanter.

* If you’d rather a touch of indulgence, try the Barnbougle Spa. This sanctuary features singles and couples treatment suites, a wellness consultation room, a steam room and mineral salt spa. A quiet place to relax and enjoy a breathtaking view of the Tasmanian coast.

* The Bridport Walking Track is a circuit walk that links the foreshore, beaches, the Wildflower Reserve, grasslands, ancient forests and the Brid River. The walking track is on land that for over 35,000 years of Aboriginal history was a significant part of the lives of the Coastal Plain Nations. The walk is within close proximity to the Bridport village and can easily be walked by young and old, with various entry and exit points. You can join the walk right across the road from your accommodation!

* Mermaid’s Pool is an absolutely beautiful pristine natural pool surrounded by coastal rock. When the tide is in it creates a magnificent pool, the perfect playground for all ages. The Pool is a short walk from the town centre and 500 metres from the popular Old Pier Beach.

* Further along is Mermaid's Beach and then Adam’s Beach, a long stretch where your furry friends can run off leash.

* For a different adventure you can experience the Kookaburra Ridge Quad Bike Tours, a taste of the Tassie bush. Tours travel through numerous tracks, hidden gullies and across open pastures. No driver’s licence is required. You’ll find it just 10 minutes out of town.

* For a truly unique experience try Flinders Island Aviation. They specialise in a range of aviation, including charter services, services to the Bass Strait Islands and surrounds.
