Steps away from a private beach, and surrounded by lush gardens, your escape to the countryside begins at Beach Garden Cottage. Enjoy sunrises, bird migration, and marine traffic from the comfort of the queen bed or cozy loveseat in this tastefully decorated studio that features a full kitchen and bath. Start your mornings with coffee on the patio and end your evenings on the beach with a glass of wine. Beach Garden Cottage is a hidden retreat just 10 minutes from downtown Sequim.

The space
The cottage was built in the 1930s and used as a duck hunters’ cabin about a half a mile from its present location. In the 1940s, the cabin was moved down the road on skids to its current location. It was remodeled in 1994 and opened as a vacation rental.

The farmhouse on this property was built in 1869 and was home to immigrants who arrived from Scotland in the 1870s. The family had a 160 acre dairy farm and the cottage was home to farmhands and milkers.

Between May and October, you will see Alaska-bound cruise ships heading west Thursdays thru Mondays, usually after 7pm. The ships return to Seattle a week later very early in the morning.

On a very clear night, the well trained eye can find 7 lighthouses in Washington and Canada. Each one has a distinct flashing light sequence.

Your own kayak can be launched directly from the beach but be careful you don’t plan a return during low tide — you may have to drag your kayak across 1/4 mile of tide flats to return to the cottage.

Jamestown Beach is at an angle and due north is just to the right of the Dungeness Lighthouse. On June 21st, the sun rises behind Mt. Baker, the large mountain across the water. On December 21st the sun rises at the end of Jamestown Road.

Other things to note
Please understand that assistance animals, comfort animals, companion animals, support animals, and service animals are not allowed inside Beach Garden Cottage. The owner, who also cleans the cottage, is allergic to pet hair and animals inside the cottage will compromise the health of the owner.

The owners live in the main home on the property. There is not a washer and dryer for short term rental use but if you are staying longer than 1 week, access for weekly laundry may be arranged at the main house.

There is no garage access at this unit.

No smoking or vaping allowed indoors.

Guests are welcome to bring their personal non-motorized watercraft (kayaks or canoes) and launch them from the beach.

The cottage is set on a country lane quiet enough for morning walks or bicycling -- the Olympic Discovery Trail is 4 miles away. The Dungeness Lighthouse can be seen from the kitchen window, or you can make the popular hike to the end of the Dungeness Spit and climb the lighthouse tower. Hurricane Ridge, Olympic National Park, Port Townsend, and even Victoria B.C. are all easy day trips from the cottage.

I grew up in Sequim and live there with my husband, Doug. My mom, Judy, first opened Beach Garden Cottage in 1994. For 23 years she welcomed guests to the little cottage which was part of the farm where she grew up. Our goal is the same as Mom's: we want to make sure that Sequim, and our neighborhood of Jamestown, becomes as special to our guests as it is to us.
