About This Listing
If you're looking for an authentic Brooklyn Experience; Look No Further! I'm an Artist living in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. I’m respectful, kind and accommodating. I share my unusual home with like-minded creative and alternative lifestyle travelers.
You are welcome to stay in my Private Room. If you like to sleep in, this is the room for you. There are no windows and it is very dark even on the brightest day with the door closed. This room is the most private in my home.
This is a sex-positive shared living environment and because of the unusual space, the sights and sounds of intimacy are not always completely private. However, respect for each other is essential and discretion is preferable.
This is a fairly large studio, it's spacious feeling even when everyone is home. I have been very lucky and met amazing people through this service.
I will provide clean sheets for your Queen sized bed and warm blankets if needed. I also have plenty of storage space if you should need it. Under the loft I have a closet just for your use with plenty of shelves. The Private Room is comfortable and clean. The little couch can be converted to a bed if needed. However, it is not great for couples seeking a romantic vacation or anyone who needs absolute silence to sleep. You must be able to climb a ladder to get to your bed.
You have total access to my space, including the kitchen. I have a manually operated freight elevator that is off limits but can be used to transport heavy items if you require. I have fantastic roof access with beautiful views of the New York Skyline. Bring your lap top computer and connect to my WiFi. If you sit in the right space you can enjoy the WiFi in the open air on the roof.
Interaction with Guests
I’m a busy guy during the week and often we will only see each other briefly. On the weekends I have more of a presence, but not by much. I’m quick to respond through email and text if you need me. I’m glad to chat and offer assistance at any time. However, I am not an overly interactive host.
My Artist's Loft is located on the top floor on a quiet street in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. This is a very safe and friendly part of Brooklyn to visit. The Franklin Avenue shops, restaurants and bars are just around the corner.
The closest Subway station is the Greenpoint Ave G, also in walking distance is the Bedford Ave L and the Vernon Blvd 7. By subway, I am located 25 minutes from Union Square, 26 minutes from Times Square, 30 minutes from Central Park, 38 minutes from Tribeca and 25 minutes from the East Village. The B61 and B43 bus stop is only a block away and very helpful when weather is uncomfortable. JFK is one hour away by public transport and LGA is 25 minutes away by Cab.
Other Things to Note
Much of my furniture was custom made by the artist Jean-Marie Mauclet of JEMA Design and all my lighting is eco-friendly LED's.
Be respectful! Use your quiet voice late at night when others are sleeping. Turn off lights when you go to bed. Wash your dishes. Keep your area organized. Close the door behind you and be sure it locks. Make sure the toilet has flushed properly before leaving the bathroom. Recycle.
No running or jumping on the roof. Don't leave any trash on the roof. Do not invite a guest or guests over without notifying me. Be extra courteous to my neighbors.
Take care of the place and it will take care of you!
Lawrence was a great guy, and definitely let me do whatever i wanted.
I recommend this place if you are staying short term and working or visiting Brooklyn area.
I personally had difficulty for three main reasons:
1) I was commuting long distance and came home to the small room as shown above, which on some days found I unlocked (not safe)
2) I had to clean the room extensively initially as I found bed bugs in the mattress.
3) Loud music at hours past 10p.m
1) Rent charge included all electric, water and room charges.
2) Is close to greenpoint station (G) line
3) Safe to walk alone late at night in the area.

Nirav did not communicate very well during his stay. 1)He was the only one with a key to his private entry door and twice he didn't shut the door properly and the lock didn't catch, nothing was stolen either time. 2) I immediately had a professional exterminator come as soon as he told me about finding bedbugs. Unfortunately, He didn't tell me until he checked out, two months later. This is not a detail that should have been kept secret from me. 3) He asked me once to turn down the music, and I did. 4) Nirav lived with me for 2 months and it that time he never spoke more than a sentence to me or left his room other than to use the bathroom. I was unaware of any of his difficulties.
Lawrence was not there during our stay, but he definitely kept good communication with us via text. We were kind of disappointed that the roof access door was locked our whole stay because we really wanted to see the skyline, though there were plenty rooftop bars in the area so it really didn't feel like we missed much. Apartment was close to metro which made it easy to get to Manhattan.
Lawrence was a great host. His loft was amazing and had quite the view of the city. The room provided was comfortable for two people and the loft overall had a cozy common room, as well as a very nice and clean bathroom/kitchen. The building was in a great/quiet location. Definitely a nice get-away if you want to make a trip to NYC.
We stayed for 2 weeks. Have a very good impression of the loft, its owner Lawrence, the room with high ceiling and a lot of light in it… the roof with a great view on Manhattan.
The loft is minimalistic, but you will find all you might need in it including fully equipped kitchen.
There can be other guests. But people are not disturbing each other. The bathroom will be free if you get up at 9-10 in the morning)
Our room has a separate entrance directly to the hall.
If Lawrence is at home he is very helpful and can answer your questions.
The place is very close to the subway and it’s 20 minutes to Manhattan. The neighborhood is quite, there are a lot of grocery stores. Williamsburg with its flea markets is very close.
Price/quality ratio if good.
Lawence was nice, has trust us so much to tell us the details of the loft. His home was the second, where we have stayed in NY. There are three rooms to stay, one room has window, and others don't have, the one on the photo was one of them. 6 Guests were there. It was noisy and a little crowd, specially in the morning, so we feel, we are in the youth hostel, not at someone's home. But the loft was cool, the roof of this building has a perfect view, don't pass it away. Brooklyn was cool, second-hand shop was our favorite.
