The Space

Bright and comfortable terraced house on a quiet street within walking distance of Dublin city centre. Convenient to the National Museum, the zoo, Phoenix Park, the Guinness Storehouse, and the Museum of Modern Art. The house has one double bed and a pull out couch for extra guests. Includes free wi-fi (with access to laptop if required), cable TV, DVD and CD player, espresso coffee maker, dishwasher, washing machine, electric shower, bath, woodburning stove and underfloor heating. The house is very convenient to the bus, Luas (tram) and rail links. Free on-street parking provided.

Stoneybatter is an old working class neighbourhood in north inner city Dublin, and is Ireland's most densely populated area. The distinctive brick terraces date from the early 1900s, and were originally built to house people working at the nearby Guinness and Jameson breweries, among other tenants. Today, the area is home to some vibrant art spaces, good restaurants and pubs, a good deli, bakery, and wine shop, and a new arthouse cinema.

If you feel like seeing some of the sights outside the city, the hosts are happy to arrange day or half day trips by car to the mountains, seaside, historic houses and gardens or archaeological sites. Try Glendalough, Powerscourt, Newgrange, Avoca, Bull Island or the Dublin mountains.

Check In
  • We had a wonderful stay here. The house is in a great location close to city, park, shops and restaurants. The house immediately feels like a home when you walk in, it's cosy, warm, really comfortable, with a great record collection and sound system. Grainne and Patrick were great hosts and contacted me immediately if I had any questions. I have no complaints and would highly recommend it as a place to stay.

  • Thoroughly enjoyed the stay at Grainne & Patricks house. It was ideal, near enough to the city centre but in a quiet street. A perfect size for two people to relax in, giving a feeling of home from home.

  • We had a great week at Grainne and Patrick's house in Dublin. Communication was great, and we had all the information we needed before travelling. Patrick even picked us up from Heuston Station, which was really kind! He took us round the area, pointing out useful places, and then showed us round the house. He had printed out useful information for us as well. The house was great - plenty of room for two, and really comfortable. It was so nice to relax in a house rather than just in a hotel room! Stoneybatter is a fascinating area, and the neighbours were really friendly. As well as the LUAS tram, we found the number 37 bus very useful to get into the city centre. We were in Dublin during the recent hot spell, and Grainne very kindly contacted us to see if we wanted a fan and brought one round - so thoughtful! I would highly recommend this lovely house as a great place to stay in Dublin.

  • We never actually met Grainne, but Patrick, her husband, was an amazing help! He picked us up from the train station and took us to their apartment. He explained things to us along the way and was genuinely interested in getting to know us. The apartment itself was one of the coolest places we stayed at during our trip. We wish we could find one here! The only downside is that it was quite a bit of a walk to anywhere we wanted to go and the only real public transportation that worked for us the 2 days we were there were Taxi cabs. If you have an iPhone, download the app "Halo" before you go. You can summon a taxi right to the front door! The apartment itself was very comfortable. The bedroom was upstairs and the bathroom was downstairs. There was a small walled patio on the back that you could eat breakfast on. Patrick has a great WIFI connection there so my wife and I could do our blogging for our trip with ease. We would definitely stay there again if given the opportunity.

  • great place - felt like you were in your own apartment. Grainne and Patrick do the best job of making sure you have everything, making themselves always available to help [even when some of us show up late], but also giving you your freedom. a quick tram ride / 20 minute walk to town, in an area of Dublin many never get to see... but should. highly recommended. AND FIND OUT THE NAME OF THE SOAP THEY USE. my god, it's amazing.

  • Grainne's place was very cute and comfortable. Everything worked great and they were a pleasure to deal with. Fast internet was an added bonus. The bed was very comfortable. Close to supermarkets and pubs and a fairly easy trip into city center. Would recommend.

  • Grainne's place was comfortable and affordable. Dublin is a walkable city and many times we walked from her apartment to town, but there are buses and a tram close by if you don't want to walk too far or you are too tired to walk back. Her apartment has a bit of history behind it and gives you a feel for Dublin you wouldn't get if you stayed in a hotel. Grainne is a great host. She was very hospitable, easy to work with and easy to talk to. If you are looking for a place to stay in Dublin, I would recommend Grainne's place.
