About this listing
The ship called Energy ship Berezina is located in the city center of the historical town of Haarlem. The green Haarlem is situated in between Amsterdam and the beach. The ideal location for exploring the typical Dutch flower fields or the beach and visiting Amsterdam (only a 15 minute ride by train).
This historical boat has got a modern interior. The ship is warm and cozy. The entrance is at the salon with a dining table and a great view over the canal and the classical Dutch houses and buildings. Downstairs is a living room with table, chairs, couch, piano, guitar and stereo. The couch can be transformed in two good beds.
The kitchen is modern with ceramic cooking, a refrigerator, coffee machine and a dish washer. To make your arrival as convenient as possible in the kitchen you also find herbs, pots, pans, cups, glasses, plates, coffee and tea. A washing machine is also located in the kitchen.
Furthermore we have the bathroom with a toilet, sink and shower.
In the front of the ship is the master bedroom with a double bed, shelves and a wardrobe.
When the weather is good, you can sit on the deck of the ship. A small foldable table and chairs are also on board.
Parking is possible beside the ship or in a parking garage 100 m further. There are also parking spots for free in about 5 minutes driving from the ship.
The Berezina is a classical vessel, build in 1908 in the Netherlands. It was used as tugboat. The ship is in a very good condition and makes regular trips. A trip to, for example Amsterdam, is possible. Ask us about the possibilities and the extra costs.
The prices are all inclusive (your stay plus 25 euro for final cleaning): there will not be charged any additional fees.
Minimum stay is based on two person (Euro 115) For every extra person it costs 40 euro extra per night.
Children up to12 months: no charge. A baby bed is available and a children’s chair can be provided without extra costs.
Children between 1 year and 10 years: 20 euro per night
Two bikes for free to use
Extra costs will only be charged, if your stay costs us extra money because of things getting damaged or broken or so. These costs are up to 500 EUR for a new toilet pump/ other damages.
If you would like to have internet acces, a prepaid card is available from 10 euro and up.
Check in is after 15h. Upon arrival we will be waiting for you to give you the keys and explain how everything works on board. You can only check in earlier, if no other guests are leaving the same day. We will know this a day before your arrival.
You will have 'real' neighbors and people around you to connect with.
Especially during hot summer nights, while enjoying a drink when the sun goes down, contact is easily made with neighbors who are doing the same on their decks. But, if you prefer to be on your own, this is not a problem, as "boat people" respect each others privacy. please respect theirs too. Please do not make noise outside when your neighbors sleep.
We friendly ask you not to waist electricity nor water. Please switch off the heating/ light when you leave the boat.
As you will be living in our home, and not in a hotel, we expect that upon departure you will leave the boat as clean as you found it upon arrival.
If something is not working or if you have problems or complaints, please contact us immediately. We will do everything possible to solve the problem.
Do not wait till you are already gone, as most things can be realized/ changed the way you like it, during your stay.
In principle you have to leave the boat at 11h. if you are leaving earlier, please make an appointment with us. A late check out is possible if no other guests are arriving/ or are arriving late, the same day.
We had a fantastic time on the Berezina in August this year. Ewald was a great host and was very helpful with information about the local area. The boat itself was very comfortable with everything you could need for a memorable stay. Highly recommended.
The Berezina is fabulous! After a short walk from the train station, Capt. Ewald gave us a very warm welcome. The boat is exceptionally clean and offers everything you might need from a stocked pantry to extra pillows.
Located in the heart of activity, it is wonderful to sit back and enjoy a glass of wine while taking in the sights and sounds of this magnificent city. Sitting on deck on a beautiful day while other ships pass by is spectacular. Within walking distance to restaurants, museums, shops, groceries, cafes, and more, you couldn't ask for a better location. If you want to explore further, there are 2 bikes on the ship. It was a bit intimidating to join the throngs of cyclists, but we caught on quickly.
A highlight for us was a trip down the canal with Capt. Ewald at the helm. It was fabulous to see a bit of the countryside from the water, and Ewald is full of information about the area.
I wish we could have stayed longer!
Ewald was a tremendous host, full of laughter and smiles! A very knowledgeable guy, we were impressed by the work he's doing with the boat and his contribution to the community via his energy saving initiatives. We enjoyed the day trip along the canal thoroughly. The beds were very comfortable and the lounge area above made a nice chill out place to hang out. Overall, it was a memorable experience. Thanks captain!

Our stay on our Haarlem canal boat was unique and memorable. We were comfortable, cosy and in the hub of all Haarlem had to offer. The traffic on the canal was a constant source of entertainment and the bike rides alongside the canal were idyllic. Ewald was an ideal host in every way - he was responsive to all of our requests and queries, and we felt like nothing was too much trouble. We loved Haarlem and our stay on Berezina enriched our experience of this historic part of the Netherlands.
The stay in Berezina was very pleasent overall. The boat is located in central Haarlem so you're in the heart of what's going on! We cooked dinner in the boat and having meals with the view of the city was nice. The boat didn't have too much "boat smell". The heating worked well and shower was good. Sound isolation was good too. Ewald is a nice guy and received us in a very friendly way.
About the Host, Ewald
