Cozy, charming, romantic and modern. Huusli is the perfect place for a couple to getaway, not too big, not too small.

Soaring ceiling with wood burning fireplace greets you in the main living area with an updated kitchen, remodeled bathroom and two adorable bedrooms.

Bonus is the four-season room where you can have all your meals or enjoy your morning coffee surrounded by nature, but without the fear of bugs.

Make new memories, celebrate an anniversary or just relax in this magical place.

The space
Completely remodeled in 2020. Named after our favorite hotel in Switzerland, Huusli is Swiss-German for "little house." As Chicago residents we always looked for a small getaway with charming features, modern amenities and a strong design vibe, but couldn't find something that was within our price range. So we decided to buy the perfect couple's retreat of our dreams, completely remodel it, and share it with you.

The cabin was built in 1951 so please note that the walls are thin and not insulated, and even with the bedroom doors closed you can hear other people from nearly every room. This is why we promote it as a cabin for a couple. Of course you can certainly invite another couple to join, or your friends, but just note the sound issue.

Unfortunately, it's not not set up for toddlers or young children due to the narrow staircase.

We currently do not allow pets.

No keys to lose or to return! This property provides secure, keyless entry with a Yale Smart Lock. A personal entry code issued to you for the duration of your stay.

You will have full access to the cabin and decks. Beach access is 3 blocks away at “Stop 41.5” (map provided in listing photos and in house binder).

Other things to note
The cabin was built in 1951 so the staircase is narrow and the individual steps are "short." Please keep this in mind as both bedrooms are upstairs, bathroom is downstairs, and you will also be bringing your luggage up and down.

As mentioned before, walls are thin and noise carries.

Huusli has gone through a complete remodel in 2020.

Neighborhood highlights

Easy access to uncrowded beaches (stops 37-41 1/2) and conveniently located in between New Buffalo and Michigan City. +++DUE TO BEACH EROSION STOP 40 NO LONGER HAS BEACH ACCESS+++. 37-39 and 41.5 are open.

New Buffalo has a quaint downtown, marina, fun and famous restaurants (Redamak's, Beer Church and Stray Dog) shopping and antiquing, and Four Winds Casino.

In Michigan City there is prime outlet mall shopping, Blue chip casino, Washington park, zoo, marina, skate park, hiking at the dunes and fishing charters. The entire area is surrounded by fruit picking at orchards, tour local wineries or a micro-breweries, and many great restaurants.

If you just want to get away from it all, Huusli is perfect. The Village of Michiana is small and has it's has it's own friendly, unique vibe, an amazing combo of dunes, woods, hills and beach. It's very quiet and safe—Michiana has their own patrol cars you will see drive by.
