Loft - Private room · Dauphine St, New Orleans, LA 70117, United States

The Space

BYWATER ARTIST LOFT - with Air Conditioning a unique only in New Orleans experience awaits you. In the center of a cultural renaissance offering a relaxed neighborhood setting, yet dynamic art, food, and music scene. This fully hosted experience offers private room for up to 3 people.

My home, your second home in New Orleans is an open plan high ceiling living space with a private, retreat like bedroom.

You are surrounded with an art collection that spans everything from happy to X-rated, much of it with a queer perspective.

The bedroom is private space and you will find room to hang all your drag or Mardi Gras costumes (you may even get me to replace a zipper or hem a cuff as I am a working artist and wardrobe designer).

Bed configurations are available for singles, friends, couples or thriples... two single beds or a full bed at your request.

Cared for, separate use guest bedding and linens are provided (sheets, fine quality pillow and bath towels),

Your shared bathroom (tub/shower combination) will be cleaned daily... more often if needed/upon request.

Your well equipped kitchen is open all the time-- we make mornings easy here. I'm available to cook dinner if you prefer an evening in and I am well versed in Vegans and Vegetarians cuisine. (inquire for reasonable pricing)

Mohawk is also a lovely resident. She is a friendly dog so quiet you'll hardly know she's around... she make new friends easily.

For work or play, WIFI is available.

Flatscreen TV - dvd player available.

Washer/Dryer is available for guest use.

Bicycles are available for a reservationfrom local rentals
Central Air and Heat.

Please inquire about door to door service for airport transfer.

The Artist Loft is just 20 blocks from the French Quarter in the Bywater, one of New Orleans hippest neighborhoods. There are lots of new restaurants and art galleries featuring cutting edge to funky fun expressions within walking distance. Exploring the immediate neighborhood, you'll often see locals bbq'ing on the corner, sitting on their porches, hanging out and telling stories.

Well situated, everything is close enough to enjoy by foot, bike, or quick easy and low cost taxi. If you decide to use a car, the immediate area has few parking restrictions and offers few parking hassles.

Bywater is considered safe and residents are very proud of it... everyone pitches in to look out for the neighborhood.

Although I am a working artist, I will do anything I can do make your time here easy and enjoyable.

I provide airport pickups (inquire about the reasonable gas/time charge) and even a late night rescue if you have over-indulged in the Quarter or Marigny. This is a 24 hour town, you're encouraged to have fun just as do I.

Please inquire, ask... I am usually inclined to say "Yes".

  • Lovely spot in the Bywater. Granite was away the weekend we stayed but none the less still very accommodating along with the help of a friend. The place is very cool, lots of interesting art work! And lots to do in the hood.

  • Granite was such an amazing host! My girlfriends and I visited New Orleans for our first Mardi Gras experience and Granite made sure we had all of the costumes, directions, party plans, bikes, to make for an excellent first trip. He even made us a vegan soup and excellent breakfast on our last day with him. The location is about a 10 min bike ride into the French Quarter. I highly recommend renting bikes, it was a very convenient way to get around.

  • My stay here was a good one. The beds are comfortable and the place is clean. The bi-water neighborhood is a safe feeling cool place to hang out. Granite can point you in the right direction regardless of what you feel like doing in New Orleans.

  • Granite is a wonderful host. He picked me up from the airport despite all the crazy traffic from the parades, and made us brownies and coffee. He cleaned frequently and drove us to various places when he could. I definitely recommend staying with him.

  • Staying with Granite feels like staying in a friend’s apartment in New Orleans. Granite is a gracious host and I will confirm much of what other reviews said – he was very helpful with seeing that our stay went smoothly, cooked a delicious breakfast (with praline bacon), provided engaging conversation, and set us up with bicycles. The neighborhood was safe and vibrant, and the apartment was clean and as advertised and reviewed in all but one respect – among much of the art that adorns the place is a good bit of graphic homoerotic art that, for me, is the type of thing that sets Air BnB apart from a Hilton but may not be everyone’s cup of tea.

  • Granite was a great host. He is friendly and helpful and full of interesting (website hidden). An authentic New Orleans character. His place is cozy, quirky and clean.
He picked us up from the airport and made us feel safe and right at home as soon as we got in. We would recommend staying there if you want a laid back neighborhood experience away from the hubbub.

  • I was hosted, together with a colleague from work, by Granite in his apartment in New Orleans. The experience was great! He's a very kind person and nice to talk with. He was also very helpful for us: he lent us two bikes for 6 days, he picked and bring us to the airport with his car and one night he also cooked for us. He's an amazing chef. I definitively suggest to stay in his apartment.

  • He's pretty nice guy. Gave us a ride to the french quarter a couple of times. When I first got there, I was hungry and he shared his pizza!

  • Don't doubt it, go and stay with Granite! The apartment is great, the area is great and Granite is even better. He is such a generous host, a great guide, and a really interesting man to get to know. We rented bikes and rode around New Orleans from Granite's place, and walked everywhere. He lives in a completely safe and beautiful neighborhood. Granite made us feel like very welcomed guests, and gave us loads of tips as to where to go for good food, directions, morningcoffee, breakfast and he even drove us and picked us up when necessary. The next time i'm going to NO, I'm definitely checking with Granite before doing anything else.
Thanks again, Granite! Love from Kine, Aggie and Ellen
