About this listing
*For Labor Day, one roommate will still be in the apartment (with our dog), in the small room by the entry. The two larger bedrooms and the master bath will be available.
Large, nicely furnished apartment in prime Brooklyn location. Close to all subways, water taxis, Brooklyn Bridge Park and the best shopping and restaurants. Great reviews!
our apartment has a large great room with an open kitchen, island, and nice sunlight.
This apartment is actually a 3 bedroom (and is quite large by New York standards) but when we go away we'd just be renting out 2 of the bedrooms (even though no one will be here, and you'll have the full apartment to yourself). As you can see from the photos, it is nicely furnished, cozy, clutter-free, nicely lit, spacious and there are always fresh flowers.
One bedroom (the navy room) is large, at the front of the building with a big window, and is attached to the full bathroom. It has a full bed. The other bedroom (with the striped blanket) is off of the living room, smaller, has a full bed and no window. There is also a couch that could be slept on if you need to accommodate 5 people. The half bathroom is off of the main living area. In the summer, there will be an AC unit in the living room (that also cools off the small bedroom) as well as one in the larger bedroom.
Our living room/kitchen is an open format with a kitchen island and dining table. The living area has two large, street-facing windows, and the apartment gets nice light. Please note that there is no TV in the apartment.
There is also a backyard, which is the width of three row houses, and has a grill and outdoor furniture.
We do have a dog (2 year old black lab) but she won't ever be here when you are, and we try to be very thorough in removing any dog hair or traces of her. However some people are allergic so you should know that she does exist. We love traveling with our dog and you are welcome to bring yours with you when you stay, at no additional cost. There are 3 dog parks that are close and easy, too.
Interaction with Guests
We try to be available on cell/text as much as possible, to answer any questions during your stay.
We are right on the border of Brooklyn Heights/Cobble Hill, and both neighborhoods are equally gorgeous and charming. Both historic neighborhoods, they are filled with brownstones, tree lined streets, little parks, cobble stone streets tucked in unexpected places, even water access. Lots of movies are filmed on our area blocks, and it's no surprise why-- the area is lovely.
The Brooklyn Heights Promenade and its gorgeous views of Manhattan are a short 7 minute walk away. We are also close to the Red Hook, Carroll Gardens, Boerum Hill and DUMBO neighborhoods.
SHOPPING (GROCERIES TOO):
One of our favorite things about this neighborhood is the shopping. There's an Urban Outfitters and a Barney's CoOp 2 blocks up Atlantic Ave, and Smith Street, Court Street and Montague Streets have lots of small boutiques, antique stores and specialty shops.
If you like to cook, there are amazing butchers and cheese shops and bakeries and middle eastern shops that sell in bulk-- even one of the city's few Trader Joe's is just 3 blocks up on Atlantic. If cooking is your thing, you could definitely have a great time doing so here. We also have a fully stocked kitchen that you are welcome to use to create your meals. (We even have a dishwasher.)
On Saturdays, the outdoor Brooklyn Flea in Fort Greene is a 30 minute walk away, faster by bus. Prospect Park and all of Park Slope's shops and brownstones are a 30 minute walk. There are farmer's markets here in our neighborhood on both Saturday (Borough Hall) and Sunday (Cobble Hill Park).
There are GREAT cafes, coffee shops and brunch spots in a 2 block radius that make for a delicious local (and authentic) Brooklyn breakfast.
Smith Street is known as Brooklyn's Restaurant Row and boasts all kinds of dining from casual to fancy, local to international cuisine. The area has many great places to eat, and we have lots of favorite spots. We are happy to provide a list of our top choices/recommendations if you are interested.
On Saturdays, the outdoor Brooklyn Flea in Fort Greene is a 30 minute walk away, faster by bus. Prospect Park and all of Park Slope's shops and brownstones are a 30 minute walk. There are farmer's markets here in our neighborhood on both Saturday and Sunday. There's even a new Shake Shack that opened near the subways. (We'll also gladly send visitor's tips or lists of our favorite restaurants or shops or attractions if you are interested! We've now been in this neighborhood for 7 years and know it well!)
The apartment is in a great location, right on the border of Brooklyn Heights and Cobble Hill. It is close to DUMBO and the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges, and is a stone's throw from the new Brooklyn Bridge Park. We are a 5-10 minute walk from 2,3,4,5,F,G,A,C and R subways-- so you can quickly get to any neighborhood in Manhattan or Brooklyn.
The Governor's Island Ferry leaves from the dock that is just 2 blocks from our house. The other ferries and water taxis to Manhattan leave from the dock in DUMBO which is a 20 minute walk away. The East River Ferry can even take you up to Williamsburg in 5 minutes flat.

This is a beautiful place and the host was fabulous. Very accommodating, easy access to everything in Brooklyn and NYC.
Felt very welcome, had a nice bottle of wine waiting for us after our long drive into the city. For our purposes, we couldn't have beaten this location.
Our hosts had cookies and a bottle of wine waiting for us. That was very sweet of them.
Communication was not an issue. All questions were answered quickly and lots of details were provided. Thankfully we were told where to park our car without having to worry about parking fees or getting towed.
The apartment was roomy considering NY area and easy to access from the highway etc. Location is great and in walking distance to a lot of places in Brooklyn. Pizza places, Breakfast places and Trader Joe's being right by the apartment helped a lot.
I would like to point out a few things that may help others decide before renting this place. The apartment is quite full with stuff so it is hard to put out any belongings or hang anything. For example there was no place or hooks for us to hang our winter coats etc. We had to place them on the extra table that was provided. The owners left their bath towel hanging in the bathroom. There was no place to hang our towels or any clothing. We ended up using furniture (drawer) knobs in the bedroom and such to hang our towels.
The hosts were gracious to allow us to use their spices. But it's bit of a challenge if you are into making simple home cooked meals like we are. The apartment lacks a microwave and there is not enough room in the refrigerator/freezer to store small food items. The dishwasher had some dirty dishes and dishwasher soap was stuck in the dispenser. We ran it again but the dishwasher soap stayed stuck in the dispenser. All appliances, especially the dishwasher could be updated.
Overall, I would say it was uncomfortable for our family although I can tell the owners meant well.
I'm sorry to hear that Shailaja had an uncomfortable stay. We have never received this kind of feedback before, and have had up to 6 people stay here with no issues. The bath towel being left behind the bathroom door was a rare oversight, which I can only blame on a bleary eyed pre-Thanksgiving 6am departure. We cleaned out half of the fridge, which I did not realize would not be enough (I also asked Shailaja ahead of her stay if there was anything she would need kitchen-wise for Thanksgiving-- she asked only for a table). I think it is important to remember that we live here, full time. It is not a vacation property. It is our home. (It is also a rental, which is why something like "updating the appliances" is not on the agenda.) We love it, and we love sharing it. But we also hope that you will come to it remembering that it's an Airbnb, and not a hotel.
First, the appartement was very well located. The walk on Henry Street to the Brooklyn Bridge was very nice. The area is safe and cute. The appartment is spacious, decorated beautifully à la Pinterest and to top-it-off, Jackie and Sebastian had left us delicious cookies and kindly left us a bottle of wine. My boyfriend was delighted to find a vintage edition of Popular Mechanics which he read every night. Lastly, Jackie was very helpful prior to our stay and provided us with a list of 'must-see and must-eat' near their place. We truly loved our stay and would come back any time!
Jackie and Sebastian's apartment looks like something out of a design magazine - the tasteful and stylish kind. The location was amazing and they are both incredible hosts. Couldn't have asked for a better experience.
The reservation was canceled 3 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
