The Space

We have a lovely bright and very large double room (16 sq metres) to rent in our elegant house between Victoria Park and trendy Broadway Market in Hackney, East London. Built in 1855 the house retains many original features, but provides modern comfort. The room has a king-size bed, TV, CD/radio and wifi. The shared bathroom has a luxurious roll-top bath and power shower. Overall, the accommodation offers warmth and cosiness, with modern convenience. All linens and towels are provided.

Guest Access

The room is on the top floor of our 4-storey house, so not suitable for those who have difficulty climbing stairs. The beautiful Victorian-style bathroom (with power shower) is on the floor below.

Interaction with Guests

We are always available to advise you on the best shows to see, places to visit and easiest ways to get around busy London.

You won't regret booking with us - we're friendly, helpful and give our guests the privacy they require.

The Neighborhood

There are many restaurants and a theatre within a 10-min stroll of the house. London Fields Lido (open air swimming pool ) is open year-round –even when it snows – and is a 10 min walk away. Our local Hackney Picture House is superb, with great films and events, plus fantastic food.

There is a public bike hire station (Boris Bikes) at the end of our road.

You will delight in one of the edgiest and most interesting parts of London. There are plenty of restaurants, cafes and bars at Broadway Market and nearby Victoria Park village. There are some great art galleries in the area, and this part of Hackney is home to many well-known artists.

There is always something (and someone) interesting to look at as you visit the markets nearby (including Columbia Road Flower Market, Brick Lane and Spitalfields - all within walking distance).

Saturday morning is a treat as our nearest market, Broadway Market, is the buzziest place to be this side of London. Within a 5 min walk you have shops, food stalls, street music, bars and restaurants.

Victoria Park is 5 mins' walk and is a beautiful, tranquil space, with lakes, fountains, canals and canal boats and the famous Pavilion Cafe, which serves the best cooked breakfast in London - bar none!

Getting Around

We are very centrally located, just 10 mins walk to Bethnal GreenTube which is on the Central Line and takes you straight to the West End (Oxford Circus 7 stops, 12 mins) or Westfield, Stratford (2 stops, 10 minutes).

Bus stop is 2 mins away:

55: to Oxford Circus (25 mins max)
388: through the City to Blackfriars
D6: to Canary Wharf
26: through the City (Spitalfields/Liverpool St/St Paul's) to Waterloo
48: via Liverpool St/Spitalfields/City to London Bridge Station
106: Whitechapel
254: Aldgate

Other Things to Note

Warning: we have a dog - but he's a big soft border collie, who isn't allowed upstairs.

House Rules

If a guest wants to cook/use the kitchen, can they please check with us first? We generally are in the kitchen between 7pm-8.30pm, so would prefer any cooking to be done before or after that, but not after 9.30pm if possible please.
No parties or visitors
No loud music/TV
.... erm, nothing else really, but if you have any questions just ask. We're very flexible as long as we know what's about to happen!
