I stayed one night at Valerie's on my bicycle tour of the South and everything was perfect. Central location within a short walk to the Arenes de Nimes and great restaurants, comfortable bed and a beautiful morning view out of large windows onto a garden. Thanks Valerie!
I very much enjoyed my stay in Nimes but had been unable to get into the central hotel I'd used the previous time. That's when someone suggested Airbnb.
Valerie had had to go away at the last minute but arranged for friends of hers to show me how to get into the flat and arrangements once inside. They were very helpful and every thing worked fine.
The accommodation consists of a largish room with a comfortable double bed which looked as if it could be separated into two singles. In addition there is a small 'kitchen' area for preparing food with a coffee percolator, a microwave and fridge. At the other side of the room there is a desk and a rail for hanging clothes. Adjoining the room is a functional shower room with separate sink. The shower was a bit cramped but worked perfectly well. The WC is off a hallway shared with the main apartment.
The building is situated a good ten minute walk away from train & bus station and a similar distance from the amphitheatre and centre of town. There's a useful grocery shop about half way in between. Rue des Jardins is easy to find but the building is tucked away across two courtyards running at right angles to each other. It's easy once you know where it is but would be difficult to find the first time round without being shown. I suggest you take a torch in order to see where you're going after it's dark.
Valérie's place is very well equipped and extremely well located for seeing the sights of Nimes. We had a great stay in the area. Valerie has 2 lovely children who were also awesome hosts - Merci aussi à Manon et Thomas!. As noted in the description this is a smoking household, however as non smokers, we found our room remote and with opening windows such that we were not bothered.
Merci beaucoup pour tous. Perhaps we will see you again!
Valerie and Yves are most charming, friendly and hospitable hosts. We had both funny and interesting discussions and hope to stay in contact in the future. The room has everything you might want - a feeling of space and calm, elegance, privacy. It's also very close to the train and the central square - a lovely space. I would highly recommend a stay here if you go to Nimes or want to discover Arles or the Camargue- both are very close for a day trip. Thank you for a lovely sojourn. Kate
Large, clean room in beautiful old house with shuttered window overlooking lovely natural garden below. Good location within easy walking distance of centre of Nimes and the station. Having tea/coffee making facilities and small fridge in the room was really useful. Although a busy working lady, host Valerie was always easily contactable and approachable.
Valerie was a gracious host that made our stay in Nimes memorable and comfortable. The bedroom is sizable and Valerie was great at respecting our space. Recommend this place!
Valerie's place is excellent! Although I didn't get a chance to meet Valerie herself, the guest room is very nice, with a big beautiful window, a comfortable bed, and a private bathroom.
Valerie's home is conveniently near to both the train station and the city center, on a quiet street.
I enjoyed my stay and would highly recommend it to others!
Valerie was very helpful... I had some hassles with lost luggage, and she was very willing to help by receiving sms's from the courrier company. She gave me my own space, and was helpful and respectful. The house is in a great part of Nimes.
Five stars for Valerie! She is extremely nice. Capable, has a certain style....
Our room and the apartment were beautiful, filled with light, on lovely, pastoral grounds, although she is well located in the city. The French window went to the ceiling. The sheets were lovely and very fine. The toweling was the best. And Valerie thought of everything we might need before we did: shower cap, shampoo, soap, mirrors, table lamps, a big desk, shelves. Coffee makers.
Our room had its own bathroom, with a sink and shower.
Valerie was efficient and caring. When we arrived, having been picked up by Valerie, she told us to use her kitchen and her living room as if it were our own, because we were her guests. She made us very comfortable.
I'm thinking I have to say this is my favourite stay on this amazing trip (sorry everyone else) although just about everywhere has been my favourite! Valerie was such a lovely and gracious host, as was her gorgeous son! The apartment was to die for! brilliant, comfortable, the best location, quiet, comfortable, full of character, easy to get everywhere. Nimes is a beautiful town, I felt great there, safe, relaxed, everything so easy and beautiful. Visited the aquaduct Ponte du Garde, fabulous day. Visited Arles, and Avignon both lovely as well. very very happy thanks Valerie, thanks Airbnb for making it all possible.
