Hands down, the best part about our 'hood is the proximity to the ocean. You can (usually) hear it, and smell it from our house, and see its amazing beauty within a brief walk. On a clear night, the sunsets are breathtaking.
We're on the MST bus line, so if you'd rather not drive, the #1 express stops right outside our gates at :21 after the hour until 7pm.
You should know a couple things....
1. We live in the main house full-time, and have 2 dogs. Though our dogs do not go in the guest cottage, if you suffer from pet allergies you should know that dogs do roam the yard from time to time, and there might have been a guest pup in the cottage prior to your reservation. Though we do clean the cottage thoroughly between guests, it is certainly likely that allergens could still be present.
2. Additionally, you should know that approximately once per week (usually Thursdays or Fridays) we have our weekly yard service. Sometimes the maintenance is relatively quiet (raking, trimming, etc.) and sometimes the situation is far more noisy (leaf blowers, weed whackers, fence repair, and the like). Most guests haven't minded, but someone mentioned it recently and we figured going forward, our guests should know what to expect.
No smoking (even outside)
Please keep noise levels respectful - we are located in a (mostly) peaceful residential neighborhood where the main source of noise is the crashing of the surf!
This quiet studio cottage is nicely appointed and as described in the listing. In a beautiful setting within walking distance of the beach and town. Use of natural cleaning products (no artificial scents) and breakfast are much appreciated. We did not get to use the patio due to rain, but a private and idyllic place to relax. The bed was softer than our preference and my husband, who is 6'2", found it a little short. Overall, a wonderful place to stay in Pacific Grove.
Erika and Blake's place is almost like something out of a child's book like "my secret garden". It is so adorable. The outside sitting area is so private with comfortable places to sit. There is a fire pit which Blake was kind enough to give me wood for and help me with the fire. Pacific Grove is so beautiful. One can walk to the beach or drive and park at many places. I would've been happy to sit on a bench and gaze at the ocean for hours. Thank you Blake and Erika for hosting me.
I booked this trip to Pacific Grove for my parents. They loved it! Ithe cottage was easy to find, super cute, close to the waves crashing and an easy drive to Carmel and Big Sur. They loved receiving breakfast to their door in the morning and the very private set up. I'd like to come visit myself!
Blake was a terrific host. He was their to greet us, and welcome us to their cottage. The space was amazing nice seating area outside the cottage, inside modern cottage interior that had plenty of space to just chill, a great kitchen, and large bathroom. The breakfast delivered each morning, had us thinking we should move in! Nice quiet neighborhood. Walking distance to Asilomar Conference Center which we was the purpose of the visit. Great way to begin and end the day with a lovely walks after a day of meetings. The icing on the cake was their cute doggies. Would go back in a heartbeat.
We have stayed here a number of times and always really enjoy ourselves. The place is clean, private, and easily accessed. Its close to everything!
Such a lovely cottage. Just as described. Location was perfect, walking distance to restaurants and shops. We had a great stay. Breakfasts were wonderful. Erika and Blake were available but unobtrusive. Perfect!
Booked two nights for my parents as a Xmas present and they had a wonderful time. Great communication, convenient location, everything as good or better than advertised on the site. Highly recommend!
We're a 30-ish couple that loves to hit the road. While we adore international adventures, we also regularly road trip throughout the beautiful west. We've recently returned from Brazil, and our next "big" trip will likely be to either Eastern Europe or to Australia/New Zealand. We have a new addition to our posse (baby Millie) and look forward to exploring the world through her eyes.
Our interests include cooking, nature, travel, animals, wine, hiking, kayaking, and we're big fans of the tv shows Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Top Chef.
We moved to the Monterey Peninsula from Portland Oregon in the fall of '09 and haven't looked back. (Okay, we admit, we REALLY miss the interesting assortment of people, and the incredible restaurants + fabulous food carts!)
We are passionate about the environment and do what we can to run a "green" household such as: recycle and compost, serve food that is organic and local, use only earth friendly cleaning/household products, etc.
We would love to host you in our charming guest cottage, a 5 minute walk from Asilomar State Beach in Pacific Grove.
We look forward to meeting you!
