We give you your privacy, but we're always happy to meet new people, discuss your itinerary, provide suggestions, etc.
Hands down, the best part about our 'hood is the proximity to the ocean. You can (usually) hear it, and smell it from our house, and see its amazing beauty within a brief walk. On a clear night, the sunsets are breathtaking.
We're on the MST bus line, so if you'd rather not drive, the #1 express stops right outside our gates at :21 after the hour until 7pm.
You should know a couple things....
1. We live in the main house full-time, and have 2 dogs. Though our dogs do not go in the guest cottage, if you suffer from pet allergies you should know that dogs do roam the yard from time to time, and there might have been a guest pup in the cottage prior to your reservation. Though we do clean the cottage thoroughly between guests, it is certainly likely that allergens could still be present.
2. Additionally, you should know that approximately once per week (usually Thursdays or Fridays) we have our weekly yard service. Sometimes the maintenance is relatively quiet (raking, trimming, etc.) and sometimes the situation is far more noisy (leaf blowers, weed whackers, fence repair, and the like). Most guests haven't minded, but someone mentioned it recently and we figured going forward, our guests should know what to expect.
No smoking (even outside)
Please keep noise levels respectful - we are located in a (mostly) peaceful residential neighborhood where the main source of noise is the crashing of the surf!
If you arrive past 7pm, please do not ring our doorbell - we have a (hopefully) sleeping infant, and a barky little dog (rough combo!). We will have hung signs to guide you back to the cottage, or feel free to text us and we'll come out to assist you.
This was the best Airbnb experience we've had. The space was amazing and the best way we could describe it was magical. Blake and Erika were very nice and accommodating with everything from the fresh baked cookies and breakfast every morning, to the cleanliness of the house. The location was perfect. It is so close to the beach and town as well. We will definitely be staying here again in the future. Thanks!
Blake and Erika's cottage was wonderful. It was exactly as described and impossibly lovely. It was a very, very quiet location, the yard is extremely beautiful, we felt we had complete privacy. We couldn't have enjoyed our time their more. There were many thoughtful touches that made us feel completely at home, from the offer to prepare us breakfast, to the fresh cookies waiting for us when we got there (and the fresh cookies left with our car on the day we left!). They provided a list of favorite local restaurants, wifi passwords, instructions for everything in the cottage.
A five minute walk from the beach, a five minute drive from downtown, you can't beat this place.
Although we didn't get a chance to meet Blake and Erika, they were extremely responsive through email and had really thought of everything. They were extremely kind and hospitable.
Just bring some cheese and champagne to put in the fridge and someone you love and you can really make some cherished memories at this place. We really can't wait to go back . Thanks, Blake and Erika, for everything!
Our hosts made us feel very welcome when we arrived, and each morning when they brought over a great breakfast right to our door. They were friendly but gave us complete privacy. The listing was very accurate. Our private patio even surpassed our expectation. The cottage is cozy and romantic. It is the perfect neighborhood to stay in in Pacific Grove -- very quiet, pretty, close to the beach. It was like coming home at the end of the day, so much nicer than staying at a hotel.
We had another wonderful stay at what our kids call "the magical beach cottage!" I can't say enough about the adorableness of this place, the location and the attentiveness and flexibility of our hosts! We love staying here, it feels like a dream, even when it rains, it's magical. Erika and Blake are very accommodating and provide a wonderful space, clean, efficient, and with eye candy in every direction! Walk to the beach, ride your bikes to the aquarium, eat your dinner on the patio and watch the woodpeckers nesting in the towering pines. They have updated the bathroom very nicely with fantastic tiling and a great vanity. Thank you for another magical vacation!
About the Host, Erika & Blake
We're a 30-ish couple that loves to hit the road. While we adore international adventures, we also regularly road trip throughout the beautiful west. We've recently returned from Brazil, and our next "big" trip will likely be to either Eastern Europe or to Australia/New Zealand. We have a new addition to our posse (baby Millie) and look forward to exploring the world through her eyes.
Our interests include cooking, nature, travel, animals, wine, hiking, kayaking, and we're big fans of the tv shows Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Top Chef.
We moved to the Monterey Peninsula from Portland Oregon in the fall of '09 and haven't looked back. (Okay, we admit, we REALLY miss the interesting assortment of people, and the incredible restaurants + fabulous food carts!)
We are passionate about the environment and do what we can to run a "green" household such as: recycle and compost, serve food that is organic and local, use only earth friendly cleaning/household products, etc.
We would love to host you in our charming guest cottage, a 5 minute walk from Asilomar State Beach in Pacific Grove.
We look forward to meeting you!
