Hands down, the best part about our 'hood is the proximity to the ocean. You can (usually) hear it, and smell it from our house, and see its amazing beauty within a brief walk. On a clear night, the sunsets are breathtaking.
We're on the MST bus line, so if you'd rather not drive, the #1 express stops right outside our gates at :21 after the hour until 7pm.
You should know a couple things....
1. We live in the main house full-time, and have 2 dogs. Though our dogs do not go in the guest cottage, if you suffer from pet allergies you should know that dogs do roam the yard from time to time, and there might have been a guest pup in the cottage prior to your reservation. Though we do clean the cottage thoroughly between guests, it is certainly likely that allergens could still be present.
2. Additionally, you should know that approximately once per week (usually Thursdays or Fridays) we have our weekly yard service. Sometimes the maintenance is relatively quiet (raking, trimming, etc.) and sometimes the situation is far more noisy (leaf blowers, weed whackers, fence repair, and the like). Most guests haven't minded, but someone mentioned it recently and we figured going forward, our guests should know what to expect.
No smoking (even outside)
Please keep noise levels respectful - we are located in a (mostly) peaceful residential neighborhood where the main source of noise is the crashing of the surf!
If you arrive past 7pm, please do not ring our doorbell - we have a (hopefully) sleeping infant, and a barky little dog (rough combo!). We will have hung signs to guide you back to the cottage, or feel free to text us and we'll come out to assist you.
Not enough can be said about this place. I was blown away with the cottage and hospitality. My husband and I, with our little dog, spent the weekend there. It was one of the most wonderful and relaxing weekends ever. Five minute walk to the ocean, and near everything in town. Erika makes an amazing breakfast and the coffee is awesome. We will be back, already trying to plan another trip.
We arrived after dark and I suspect we woke baby Millie with the ringing of the doorbell of the main residence, but we were made most welcome by Erika as she escorted us to our 'home'.
The ambiance was great, the furniture and fittings classy and we felt very comfortable if somewhat tired after a long drive from LA.
We met Blake the next morning when he delivered our tasty breakfast.
This was my second stay at the cottage and just as fabulous & wonderful as the first time.
Erika & Blake are incredible hosts, very caring and welcoming. They do it right, from the beautiful decor, comfortable bed, peaceful garden atmosphere (with the sound of the ocean in the background) to the delicious breakfast. I will definitely be coming back again.
Beautiful little cottage in a surreal setting. Erika and Blake are the most gracious hosts. The cottage was clean and exactly as described. The bed was so comfortable it made it hard to leave. We wouldn't stay anywhere else if we return to the area.
This was place was beyond special. I was in P.G. for a very meaningful family matter and this place made my stay feel warm and cared for. It is so peaceful here. You have your own courtyard with table and chairs, the hosts bring breakfast to you, the cottage interior is attractively furnished, you are walking distance the beach and there is everything one might need for a short term stay. Entering the place I felt like I was entering my own private fairy tale. I look forward to returning in the future!
Perfect quiet location near beaches and restaurants. Lovely garden cottage. We, and our little dogs, loved it.
This quiet studio cottage is nicely appointed and as described in the listing. In a beautiful setting within walking distance of the beach and town. Use of natural cleaning products (no artificial scents) and breakfast are much appreciated. We did not get to use the patio due to rain, but a private and idyllic place to relax. The bed was softer than our preference and my husband, who is 6'2", found it a little short. Overall, a wonderful place to stay in Pacific Grove.
We're a 30-ish couple that loves to hit the road. While we adore international adventures, we also regularly road trip throughout the beautiful west. We've recently returned from Brazil, and our next "big" trip will likely be to either Eastern Europe or to Australia/New Zealand. We have a new addition to our posse (baby Millie) and look forward to exploring the world through her eyes.
Our interests include cooking, nature, travel, animals, wine, hiking, kayaking, and we're big fans of the tv shows Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Top Chef.
We moved to the Monterey Peninsula from Portland Oregon in the fall of '09 and haven't looked back. (Okay, we admit, we REALLY miss the interesting assortment of people, and the incredible restaurants + fabulous food carts!)
We are passionate about the environment and do what we can to run a "green" household such as: recycle and compost, serve food that is organic and local, use only earth friendly cleaning/household products, etc.
We would love to host you in our charming guest cottage, a 5 minute walk from Asilomar State Beach in Pacific Grove.
We look forward to meeting you!
