Historic Floating Cottage in Bayview - built in 1939
Welcome to our slice of heaven; we are excited to share the experience of literally living on the water! We lovingly refer to our cottage as “Floatie” and are opening it up to guests on a limited basis.
“Floatie” is located on the front dock of Scenic Bay Marina G Dock with unobstructed views of Lake Pend Oreille. Located on the same dock as the boat launch & the Lake House Bar & Grill. This cottage has location, location location!
The space
Please note: this listing is for the house & access to the attached covered boat garage. If you don't need to park a boat, please look for our listing "Floating cottage with incredible lake access" for a lower nightly rate!
On the outside:
The dock in front of the house is for your private use. It features a large stainless steel propane BBQ, plush seating, a large sun umbrella and a table that sits up to 8 people; making this an amazing place to relax! Fish from the dock, do yoga while watching the sunrise (yoga mat provided) paddle board through the marina - so much to do outside!
On the inside:
Step through the french doors to a bright and open floor plan. We updated our house top to bottom in the spring of 2020 with the perfect mixture of new & vintage furniture and fixtures. The kitchen features the original vintage sink with new open cabinetry and gorgeous new butcher block countertops. The refrigerator and stove/oven are also vintage and work well. This kitchen is charming and functions great! The kitchen is well appointed with most cooking basics including pots & pans, crock pot, blender, Keurig coffee maker, toaster, cookie sheets / mixing bowls, etc. The island is large and seats 4 people.
The living room features a large couch (new in 2020), two feather-down arm chairs and a leather stool. The living room can seat 6-7 people. The antique mid-century dresser holds a 42” High-Def Smart TV (new in 2020). Netflix & Amazon Prime are included. The house has high speed Wi-Fi internet as well as good cell service with Verizon. Inside the antique secretary cabinet you will find books, decks of cards, puzzles, cribbage board, dominos and several board games.
The bathroom features a vintage 1930’s wall sink and a shower stall with on-demand hot water...take as long of a shower as you want without running out of hot water! Linens are of high quality. Open shelving keeps everything within reach and gives plenty of space to set your personal items. A hairdryer, make up remover wipes, q-tips & cotton balls are provided.
The hallway is a bright and open area with plenty of room for your bags. There are wall hooks, a vintage dresser and a bench to hold your clothes and personal items. Privacy is provided between the living room & sleeping nook with privacy curtains. There is no hanging closet space at this time, although the wall hooks seem to be a good alternative.
The sleeping nook is a cozy place to recharge at the end of the day. The mattress is Memory Foam (new in 2020) and the size is ‘Full’ (note: this is slightly smaller than a Queen size) The mattress has 2 mattress covers for optimum hygiene. The linens are 100% cotton, all high quality and very soft (linens new in 2020). There are 4 pillows: 2 firm and 2 soft. Sheets, pillow cases and top mattress cover are washed with bleach after every stay. The cotton comforter cover and/or summer blanket are also washed between guests. There is a large egress window on one wall for plenty of fresh air.
Through the door in the kitchen is the boat garage. The boat garage can accommodate up to a 24’ boat. This does NOT include usage of a boat!
Just through the door of the boat garage is a front load washer & dryer as well as a clothes line for hanging wet suits & towels.
Pet policy: NO PETS
For a variety of reasons, we are not allowing pets. We have found this to be a very stressful and inconvenient location for animals. The house moves with the waves which is quite upsetting for even the most docile pets. The water in front of the house is very deep and there is no way for pets to get out of the water themselves if they fall in (shore is about a 1/4 of a mile away). Getting trapped between the houses can be deadly.
