Where you’ll be

Bihoro, Abashiri District, Hokkaido, Japan

■Bihoro Pass (20 minutes)
Within a 20-minute drive from Bihoro Town, you can look down on the panoramic view of Lake Kussharo, the largest volcanic lake (caldera lake) in Japan.
When there is a temperature difference between night and morning, a sea of clouds flows into Lake Kussharo early in the morning, creating a fantastic view.
The Bihoro Bussan Kanko Kyokai website has a live camera that allows you to check the scenery in real time.

■Lake Kussharo (35 minutes)
During the winter, whooper swans from the Siberian region of Russia fly to Lake Kussharo. The number of whooper swans is approximately 300. In addition, hot springs spring water bubbles up around the periphery of the lake, making a visit to the hot springs very pleasant.
In addition to the Bihoro Pass, the scenery from other passes is also spectacular.

■Lake Akan (1 hour 25 min.)
Lake Akan was created by a volcanic eruption. Surrounded by Mt. Female Akan and Mt. Male Akan, you can take a steamer to see marimo, a special natural treasure.
The lake is located in a volcanic area, which means that hot spring water is available, and the Akanko Onsen Hot Spring Resort welcomes visitors to the southern shore of the lake. Free footbaths are scattered throughout the hot spring resort area, so it is recommended to take a stroll and find your favorite footbath.

■Abashiri City(35min.)
Abashiri City, famous for its drift ice, is also conveniently located only 35 minutes away by car.
During the drift ice season from January to February, visitors can enjoy the fantastic world of ice while riding on a boat that is stretched out to sea and breaks the ice as it goes.
You can also see white-tailed eagles and Steller's sea eagles on the ice floes, and you can also see wild animals and enjoy the great outdoors.

■Aozora Market (3-minute walk)
A three-minute walk from our facility is Aozora Market, a roadside station where local vegetables, seafood, boxed lunches, and souvenirs are sold.
Recommended items include jingisukan (Japanese mutton barbecue), fried potatoes, and hairy crabs, which are available at low prices after the drift ice melts.

■Satsudora Bihoro Sakaimachi Store (1 minute walk)
You can get daily necessities.

■Convenience store (3 minutes walk)
There is a Lawson convenience store on the opposite lane from Aozora Market.

<Eating out>
■Meat Kappou Tamura (5 min. walk)
