More than just a place to sleep! This tiny Victorian village of Karenville is an experience! With no electric and no running water Karenville creates a new way of seeing. This fanciful "Village" is in the country. It is charming and totally off the grid with dark quiet nights and relaxed beautiful mornings. Drink your coffee in the dew covered meadow and eat breakfast in the "cafe" and relax in "the square" before starting your day.

The space
It’s like sleeping inside art. This tiny Victorian "home" along with all of Karenville I built for my own enjoyment and now yours. This tiny Victorian building has a single size bed that sleeps one comfortably or two if you like to snuggle.

Enjoy something unique and different. Let me show you. I have lived over 25 years with no electric and no running water. It’s easy and it’s meaningful.

I built this tiny “home” as an interesting challenge to and for myself. Wait till you see and hear the story!!!

It's windows look east out onto wide open fields and hills. You will most likely wake to a rising of the sun and bird songs. It is a tiny yet roomy "cottage" with a bed that sleeps one person or two if you like to snuggle. It has a bed, a closet and not much more. But not to worry, Karenville has lots of space. Although there is no heat in this cute little cottage, it is well insulated to keep you warm when it is cool and cool when it is warm. All of Karenville, especially the "Cool'r Cottage", is something like camping only way more Cool.

There are no nearby neighbors only open fields and woods for your enjoyments. There is much to do at Karenville. Most of our quests thoroughly enjoy taking the five minute walk to the "two trees" to see the view of the distant wooded hills. Some do this multiple times during their stay. We also have quests who can't get enough of just sitting and watching the fireflies, birds, the quiet, the stars, and the green grass. One thing they almost all say is "I wish we could stay longer”.

At Karenville kids are people too! Yes kids are people and often take up more space than adults. Please include them as another person.

I am a fun and sometimes silly person. But most of all I have a strong connection to the wild things around me. I especially like the simple things in life. Some of my favorite things to do is, hiking, boating, enjoying my pets, building or painting something, contra dancing, riding my vintage bicycle, looking at old architecture, showering under the rain spout, cooking over an open fire, having a great adventure, learning about cultural differences, gardening, sailing the winter months away in Florida and alligator hunting and ofcourse hanging around home (both in NY and FL) doing whatever.
Things I do not enjoy are sports, shopping, fashion, and watching tv. But sure love my Guinea pigs and my parrot Rickie, my pony Tangles, my life partners and my guests.

About Karenville;
I built the many buildings in Karenville for my own enjoyment and pleasure. But then I wasn't sure what to do with all these silly buildings. Someone said I should put it on Airbnb. Without electric or running water I was sure no one would come. Wow! was I ever surprised. And now, suddenly, I'm paying lots of taxes.

My future hope for Karenville is that it may amuse and stimulate a new way of thinking and feeling for everyone who visits. And that all who visit K-ville leave with smiles on their faces.

Come experience the magic in Karenville !
