Accommodation This is a small Private House NOT HOTEL (3 bedroom size) You stay in a double bedroom. A simple ordinary and humble home, but filled with love and where you will be respected and treated with kindness at all times. You will have a room key for your privacy and a front door key to come and go as you please.
If you want somewhere to rest your head between those hectic moments of sightseeing, be left totally on your own, or have a friendly conversation with myself when, or should I say, if you have the time from taking in what London has to offer, then we welcome you to come and stay with us.
Whether you want to nip down to see the changing of the guards, have a peep at 10 downing street, chill out by the fountains of Trafalgar Square, take a cruise walk down to Buckingham Palace, chance a ride on the London Eye, or hop on the tube at Victoria Station, you are only 15 to 30 minutes tops to any direction mentioned above via the tube or buses. (Can be slightly longer with traffic delays on the bus, but not by much more). The number 159 bus will take you to Big Ben in approx 12-15 minutes and the number 3 bus also to Big Ben in less than 20 minutes. The world famous Harrods and Selfridges are not far away by Underground or bus.
We are within half hour of London's Theatre Land.
The famous Brixton Market is only 7 minutes away from us by bus. Ethnic food heaven. There is a local artist hangout in a cafe inside the market where you could be sipping tea or coffee sitting right next to a local or not so local celebrity. The 02 Academy where Madonna and other famous celebs perform is also only 7 minutes away by bus. Kennington park is just one minute away. For you who are history buffs, it was used as a bomb shelter in WW2 and saved many lives. The Old Vic, and the Imperial War Museum is close by.
The main Brixton Road is built over the Effra River. Before the road was built, back in the 1800's or there abouts, people used small boats and canoes to get to the centre of Brixton to ply their trade. Some of the original houses on what was the river banks are still around. Often when it is raining you can hear the Effra gurgling beneath your feet when you are near the grilles.
We are approximately 20-25 minutes via the number 3 bus from one of the most interesting and beautifully kept large parks in England - Crystal Palace. It was built as a Victorian Pleasure and Theme Park. If you are interested in dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals, there are massive sculptures of various animals on permanent display in the park. And best of all, its free.
Where you Stay:
There is a double bedroom ready for you. Double bed sleeps 2. The bathroom has constant hot water where you can have a nice hot relaxing bath at anytime. For those of you who prefer a shower, ONE IS NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. The room is one floor up from the ground floor, but only a very few stairs to climb. The bathroom is one floor above your room, again only a few stairs from your room.
There is a green at the back of the house via the back garden gate. On a nice day, when I have time I chill out with a book, or just sit and gaze at the lovely blue sky. It's there if you wanted down time out of the house, from your daily trek around London.

Another great stay with Diana - recommended, A+
Diana was wonderful! Her house was exactly as described, and she made sure I had everything I needed for a quick visit to London. She was very friendly, and made me feel welcome. :-)
The house is very basic and would not suit all people but for me it has been fine. Diana is a good host, friendly and hospitable. She is about to move out of this house shortly so is winding things up over the next few months. Logistics are good, quiet location but just a few mins walk to the Oval tube on the Northern line, so perfect for me job hunting. So good I have extended my stay for a few more nights. Very quiet spot, big room, just what I needed. My first Air BnB experience a good one.
My stepdaughters stayed with Diana for a night and found her to be very friendly and helpful. The accommodation was very clean and comfortable and the girls thoroughly enjoyed their stay. Highly reccommended.
Simple accomodations; very basic. WAlking distance from Oval Metro station. No shower head in the shower by design; only bathtub which made it a bit challenging to shower. Julia is a great host. Nice enough to greet us with some London tea and fresh fruit. She was open to host us despite our last minute request. Very accomodating. You can see her interest in providing a pleasant stay.
Diana was very quick to respond to my request to stay, & everything was very well organised. The room is lovely and airy, with a very comfy bed! Diana is very friendly and helpful. The house is in a quiet street, and public transport (tube/buses) just a short walk away. The room/facilities are basic and a very good value option for visiting London – I will definitely be back & would recommend Diana’s home to anyone.
I booked this room for a few days over New Year's Eve.
From the moment that I arrived at Diana's home, I felt extremely welcome. Though we didn't see each other much as I hopped around London for 3 days, she was a gracious host and kindly opened up her home to me. My room was very cozy, casual and reminded me a bit of home.
Her home is conveniently located in quiet Kennington and travelling to see the sites via the tube was near effortless.
I'm glad that I made the right choice for my short, first-time visit to LDN!
Great place, wonderful welcome, lovely host, great value.......!
I would recommend Diana's room for the most budget-minded of travelers. Mainly because the plumbing is problematic. Using the bathroom was not the most pleasant—the water pressure is very low, the sink has old-fashioned separate hot and cold water taps, and the toilet chemicals were strong-smelling. It was a struggle to turn the faucets off.
It's a fair deal because it's at least $20-30 cheaper than most rooms you'll find in the London Underground Zone 1 and 2. The room was cozy, clean, and warm, the neighborhood safe with easy access to transit and just around the corner from a Co-operative grocery store.
Also, Diana was very sweet. She took me in though I had to book at the very last minute, and for that I'm very grateful.
Diana is lovely!
There is no shower!!!
The house is vary far from the twon center.
In response to your statement, I stated that there is no shower in the information provided so that people already know before they book! And I do not think that it is far from the town centre. The town centre is Oxford Circus, West end area and that area is well under half hour travel by bus, and much less by tube and easily accessible from both bus or tube, as you can see from some of the previous guests response.
Wishing you all the best, warmest regards. Diana
