The Yay Frame is a mid-century A-frame built on a hill overlooking the Sierra National Forest, surrounded by pine trees. It is located 12 miles from Yosemite South entrance. My home was just remodeled in the past ten years. It features modern appliances, cork floors, Article couches, and a sleek bathroom — all while retaining its original charm!
NOTE: NO BBQ GRILL, NO DISHWASHER.
2 BATHROOMS.
The space
THE YAY FRAME WAS BUILT IN 1967
Some quick old home facts. The kitchen is small, there is no dishwasher, and there is only one bathroom in the main house. The heating works well, but the basement can remain chilly. If you are expecting a perfect contemporary home, the Yay Frame might not be the home for you, and that’s okay. We hope you appreciate that our mountain design does not always mean the latest tech, fit, and finish — it’s timeless, not timely.
LIVING AND DINING ROOM
Right upon entering the front door, you're greeted with breathtaking floor to ceiling views of the mountains, trees, and valley below. You feel as if you’ve entered a treehouse! Dining table is bench seating and fits up to 10 people. The original, sloped wooden walls create a cozy environment for lounging and enjoying the views. We also have an assortment of games available in the sideboard cabinet for all ages. Please note we are a strictly no-fire house and the fireplace is non-functional.
KITCHEN
Our kitchen features new appliances (electric stove/oven, fridge, microwave), and all of the essentials for a home-cooked meal (pots, pans, utensils, etc). We’ve also provided many coffee maker options: a French press, pour-over, classic brewer, and burr grinder (creamer not provided).
BATHROOM
Completely remodeled modern bathroom with floor to ceiling tile and a beautiful floating vanity. Brand new bathtub/shower combination, with great water pressure.
**Please note there is ONLY 1 BATHROOM in the A-frame, the other full bath is in the small cabin.
BEDROOMS
The bedrooms all feature a queen bed with luxury white sheets, duvets, and pillows. Each bedroom features plenty of closet space and beautiful wood ceilings. The largest bedroom on the top floor is an A-shaped room with a loft. Please note the stairs to the loft are quite steep.
BOTTOM FLOOR
The bottom floor has an entertainment area equipped with a new smart TV, sound system, game table and foosball table. There is also a washer and dryer for your convenience.
THE SMALL CABIN
The small cabin is a completely separate 450 square foot cabin with cute tiny home charm. The cabin is a has a living room, dining space, small kitchen (no oven), separate bedroom and full bathroom.
OUTSIDE
The yard has a small wooden teepee and plenty of space to explore. The backyard is mainly the deck, with a sectional for outdoor seating (in storage during the winter months).
PETS
Our home is dog friendly! We kindly request a $100 flat fee for additional cleaning. Two dogs max please. If you bring your dog, we request that you supervise them while outside — our home is in a forest and there is wildlife around. It is up to my discretion to deny a dog.
Guest access
You have access to the full property, including both cabins. The only area not accessible is the standalone garage, but you can park in either driveway.
Please do not ship anything to the house as the mailbox is a locked box not in front of the home.
Other things to note
Winter months
From late November to early March there is a chance it will snow at the cabin. The roads to the cabin are plowed, but please note if there is a big enough storm chains/4 wheel drive may be required. Parking may be limited if there is a big snowstorm.
Summer months
The A-frame has an evaporative cooler (also known as a swamp cooler). The area is the perfect environment for this type of cooling, so it works perfectly. I have been at the cabin when it was a crazy heatwave and the cabin cooled down just fine. Keep in mind the park is really popular in the summer, and to factor for travel times and parking.

Neighborhood highlights
Located in Cedar Valley, a mountain community just shy of Yosemite's southern entrance, and 10 miles away from Bass Lake! Plenty of fishing, hiking, and exploring all within walking distance or a short driving distance! You can walk, or drive 2 minutes to the Lewis creek hiking trail. Which has one of my favorite waterfalls in California. It's got great swimming holes to cool off in the summer.
