Staying in Tamara's boathouse (top and bottom) was like staying in paradise! The place is really nice and had everything you need. Don't expect a lot of luxury, it has a hippy/bohemian look and feel. Also great place to bring your kids. Lost of animals (dogs, cats, ducks and a pig).
We loved it a lot and want to come back asap!
Its is not what we expeted
The place was nice ,The garden was beautiful and peaceful
Only the neighborhood we don,t like .
you can,t go to walk in the evening and if you wanne go to the supermarket
we feel us not safe .
drive to the beaches wa easy only if go wrong was a bit dangerous, because you can easely drive in neighborhood you dont wanne come
We just returned home from three nights at Magic City Farm and are still feeling the MAGIC! We will be back next year, for sure. Tamara is a lovely host and has added lovely little touches to make the experience one we'll always remember. Loved the lodging, the grounds, WRINKIE, and just everything about the place. Miss it already!
I had the most amazing time at Tamara's Magic City Farm. It is a tropical oasis that surrounds you with beauty and peace. I felt like I was on vacation while working at my leisure with wi-fi. Tamara is a gracious host making everyone feel as though they were part of her family. I especially loved watching the dogs, cats, chickens, and Don Rickles, the pig. I am going back at my first opportunity! Thank you Tamara for a fabulous time!
It's hard to describe this peaceful and romantic place... It's fantastic that in 25 minutes you are in a vibrant city.
Tamara is so cool, her animals are great. I would go back for a week just to stay in the garden and admire the life in it.
Well, what can we write about our stay at the Magical "Tamara" Farm nobody has written before? Our stay there was so very much relaxing because of the beauty of that place, our wonderful host Tamara and all the animals living there.
None of the dogs, cats, dugs or the pig disturbed us at any time as they are well behaved. Tamara always was there for us when we had questions or needed something and we laughed a lot with her.
We can highly recommend staying with her while visiting Miami or Fort Lauderdale. You are near the cities and very close to the beaches but far enough away from noise and stress.
Take the boathouse, it's really nice and fully equipped with everything you need. We felt welcomed and safe in the neighbourhood of Little Haiti. We'll definitely come back!!!
Tamara's little compound was exactly what we were looking for -- private, beautiful, simple, clean, and easy. We stayed in the 1st floor of the Boathouse, to be closer to the river/canal. It was cozy and comfortable, with anything we could need -- internet, dishes, toiletries, iron, a/c, etc. We wish we could have seen Tamara more, because she was just so damn nice! But we were out most of the day exploring, so our paths did not cross much.
The property is incredibly unique. When you drive up, you don't know what is hiding behind those lush walls. Then you step into a calm respite from the city, full of happy ducks, dogs, cats and a friendly grunt from the Pig. I can't imagine how fun it must be to stay here with kids. I was so excited to see herons, iguanas, turtles and fish on a daily basis.
The neighborhood was cool -- full of creole food and local life. There is a Starbucks nearby if you need it, as well as a Publix and other stores within easy driving distance. This spot also has really easy access to North Beach, Wynwood/Design District, and downtown.
Overall, I would highly recommend staying here! Thanks Tamara!
My wife and I had an amazing time at the boathouse. We both agreed that our stay there was a fantastic experience and was the highlight of our Miami trip. Tamara, the host, is a very sweet, energetic, always smiling, accommodating and lovely lady. She made sure our stay there was comfortable and gave us good advice and local knowledge about what we could cover in Miami. She's very well travelled and has a lot of stories to share if you are interested.
The farm is just lovely, completely isolated from the hustle bustle of the city life. You wake up to the sound of quacking ducks and light sound of water. We stayed at the main boathouse and the interior decor and furnishing is very tasteful. Tamara has an excellent taste in picking unique drapes and cushion covers and the entire setting is cozy and beautiful. My wife absolutely loved the decor and how everything blended so well. For folks who enjoy animals, some quiet relaxing time, tasteful furnishing and a charming location - this place is a must go. For anyone who has experienced 'Kerala(India)', this place is the closest we have seen. If you are into photography, there are lots of good shots you can capture of the farm animals. She has about 8 cats, 5 dogs and a huge potbellied pig. The animals are all friendly and don't bother you at all.
It is about 20 minute to south beach which really isn't too bad at all. Lots of stores close by too. You might want to carry an insect repellent though as there are a few mosquitoes in the area.
Overall a great place and we'd definitely go to this mini-paradise again if we ever go to Miami!
Tamara's house was more than a surprise, it was close to paradise in the midst of Miami. The fisherhouse we were renting with our children (upperfloor: children; below we as couple) was the ideal place for our family during our week in Miami (only 10 min to the beach by car). The accomodation is organized with a sense of practical and esthetic taste. Both floors had kitchen, bathrooms and AC. The location right on the river front gave us a very relaxing view on a magnificant, romantic garden. A pitty that you can't take a bath in the river ... We liked her fantastic garden with all the dogs, her pig, the chicken and iguans that were giving us the feeling of living in a urban wilderness. Tamara is a wonderful, generous and trustful landlady. She just let us feel at home. Her tips were all great and useful. We would love to come back and can recommend her place to everybody who likes wilderness in the city.
A fantastic experience in a beautiful and quiet place. Great gardens and a wonderful Boathouse. It was all that we expected... and more! Tamara is a very nice person. We will come back!
Una experiencia fascinante en un lugar realmente precioso. Superó nuestras expectativas. Tamara es una gran anfitriona y una excelente persona. Sin ninguna duda volveremos!
