The "Old House" has been in our family for 500 years but was renovated in 2009 and is in mint condition. It is located in South Tipperary, 10 minutes from Carrick on Suir and 20 minutes from Kilkenny City.
If you like privacy, you will like this. Our detached sunny and spacious cottage is nestled down an old boithrin by a river. There aren’t that many of them left.
This cottage epitomizes the rustic lifestyles of old Ireland. It has two large double bedrooms with en suite bathrooms and two double loft bedrooms. One of the lofts is enclosed. It sleeps eight comfortably. A washing machine and dishwasher are also available. If you would like to know what the real Ireland is like and see how it is lived by the locals you will like this. The local pubs and shops are a five-minute drive away. It’s the real Ireland.

A great place! It is a beautiful restoration of an old stone building situated in the peaceful countryside right next to a river. It's elegant, comfortable, and functional all at once. Truly a special property that we enjoyed immensely.
It's centrally located to see much of the region--but be aware that it's a bit of a drive to most services and sights
Diane and Breda a joy to work with, the cottage was absolutely beautiful, gorgeous river which passes by with stepping stones which my 8 year old daughter loved.
Beautiful accommodation and location , will definetely be booking again .
We loved this house!! The house is very spacious and has all the facilities you would need. The beds were so comfortable and the ensuite's attached to the two main bedrooms were perfect as was the main bathroom. There is a lovely out doors area leading down to a river and we made good use of the seating outside the house to relax in the evening sun. The house itself is an old style large cottage and it is very well decorated and in keeping with the original style whilst incorporating all modern equipment. We went to Kilkenny, Waterford and Wexford - all within a reasonable traveling distance. The only downside was that, whilst there is a lovely large television, the channels received are very poor and as we spent all day long out travelling - we would have liked a better selection of programmes for the evenings. We would definitely recommend this beautiful home to other travelers who are looking for a great place to stay that isn't in the middle of a town.
We had the mostly lovely or should I say really grand time at the Old House. It's in a beautiful spot, peaceful and the house itself is so well decorated and furnished.
We loved the area and had great nights on Kilkenny as well as one of the most fantastic meals of our year at Zunis restaurant.
I very much hope to come back!
We had a great time staying at this house! The pictures do not do it justice. During our 10 day trip to Ireland, we spent three nights here and were able to relax, cook, and experience the rural life. I would highly recommend this house to anyone (with a car or bike).
A great family time in a lovely relaxing spot. Enjoyed walks down the country lanes and explored the nearby castles. The Old House was beautiful and spacious and provided an excellent base for day trips as well as an ideal spot to relax.
