Check In
  • What an amazing area to stay in. We loved walking the streets in the Mission district.
Mary and Richard were great hosts, making sure we knew where we were going and what to do. Lots of great advice from them, and having the prepaid public transport passes was wonderful. The only slight negative I would say is the bedroom is quite small, but then again we did have very large luggage bags. Also they have a lovely area in the kitchen for you use. I'm sure Richard will attest to this. They were very gracious and let us keep our luggage in their home until quite late in the day as our flight was not until the evening. Richard then drove us to the Bart Station, which was wonderful.

  • We definitely recommend staying at Mary and Richard's 'Garden Room' if you visit SF. Its a cosy room in a beautiful house and they are great hosts.Richard gave us a great welcome, a good introduction to the city, a transportation card, and he even gave us a ride to the BART station the day we left!

  • If it was possible to give 11 out of 10 for Mary and Richard, I would. From the moment we arrived they welcomed us. They provided us with clipper cards preloaded with $20 to allow us to use the transport system, including the ferries. Were very helpful with directions. From their home it is very easy to get around by bus to Fisherman's wharf. Sadly for us, we were meant to stay 4 nights but, on the day after we arrived my wife fractured her ankle and we had to cut short our trip to return to the UK for surgery. Richard was absolutely amazing in giving us lifts in his car from the hospital, then back to the hospital the next day for further treatment, bringing us back home late at night. He took us to the all night pharmacy and helped us get something to eat after we had spent the entire day at the hospital. He bent himself over backwards to help us and I don't know what we would have done without him.
I have no hesitation in recommending staying at Mary and Richard's. The room and separate bathroom were clean. There is a spacious kitchen and dining area if you want to stay at home and cook. If you are making up your mind as to where to stay in San Francisco, then look no further. Just book it!

  • Mary and Richard were very welcoming. They offered us tips and links before our arrival. Maps and tour books were also available for our use. They also had clipper cards ready for our transportation.
We appreciated the warning about the cool weather and came prepared.
The BNB is well positioned, close to transportation. There are also many restaurants within walking distance.
One reason we chose this BNB was the garden area, and we did make use of it during our stay.
Richard gave us a ride to the car rental one day, and also gave us a ride to the BART station the day we left.
Many thanks to Mary and Richard for an enjoyable time in San Francicso!

  • A very late arrival did not phase Richard and Mary who settled us in and sorted us out for the following day of sight seeing in the City. The BART cards were available and are really recommended.

Yes, the room is small but one has an immediately adjacent bathroom and it has a very comfortable bed. The kitchen and dining area are made available so tons of space to cook and eat in. The patio garden is also a very plasant outdoor space.

Richard and Mary were always happy to advise and recommend and kindly dropped us off at the BART station on our departure to the airport.

This accomodation is very central and a short walk to both the BART station and to bus stops going straight into the CBD and ferries. We would recommened a stay.

  • Mary and Richard were awesome hosts. They live in the Mission District which is populated with great tasting restaurants, bars, and nightlife. You have a private entrance on the side of the house with your own bathroom. The room is tiny but perfect because all you really need is a bed. We were out in the city everyday from 9-10 so spent little time at the house. They have a microwave you can use to warm up any leftovers. I highly recommended the short walk a couple of blocks away to both Cha Cha Cha and Bi Right Creamery. Lastly, Mary and Richard save you some time by providing a SF 101 and lending you clipper cards to get around. I would recommend their place to anyone who wants to feel as if they lived in the city for a couple of days!

  • San Francisco is a great city and Mary and her husband were great hosts, we really enjoyed our stay !
+ The cute little garden, the beautiful house, the area (lot of restaurants), bathroom
    - The smaller than expected room (it was okay for 3 days though !), the bathroom not linked to the room

=> I would definitely recommend a stay ! Thank you.

  • Our Stay at Mary and Richards place was wonderful! They are both very welcoming hosts with a lot of valuable information about San Francisco. The house was spotless and the room very comfortable. We especially loved the shower and the hotel like towels. The Mission is a great area to stay with lots of interesting restaurants and cafes as well as the park nearby. Staying here gave us an authentic taste of what it would be like living in San Francisco. We highly recommend staying here and would return again next time we're in San Francisco.
