Mary and Richard were wonderful hosts, they made us feel very welcome and gave us all kinds of great tips and information to make our visit nice and easy. We loved their home and were very comfortable in the private room. The location is fantastic, so close to everything and perfectly situated in the Mission. Really convenient and lovely!
I had so much fun visiting San Francisco! I think a large part of that was due to staying in Mary and Richard's rental space. They were both wonderful hosts. Prior to our vacation, I was a bit overwhelmed about getting around the area, but then they provided us with great tips/direction, which instantly eased my anxieties (THANKS GUYS!) We loved their home and were very comfortable in the private room. It felt as though we were staying with friends. Would definitely stay there again.
It was a delight to stay at the Henry's place. Mary and Richard are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Richard in particular was a font of information re a few things - which I greatly appreciated. The room and ensuite was perfect for me - well appointed, clean and with lovely touches like good towels and shower products. A wonderful local neighbourhood with lotsa eateries, bars, shops, indie cinemas etc makes this a 'top shelf' air bnb experience. I hope to return one day! Thanks Richard and Mary.
What a fantastic place to stay, and such lovely hosts. Mary and Richard are super helpful and friendly, and gave us great suggestions on things to do around SF, as well as rides on rainy days. It's a lovely room in a great location, and really central to the Mission and BART. Would highly recommend the Treehouse.
The room is warm and cozy. Richard and Mary are exceptionally kind and gracious hosts. Their home is immaculate and historical. The neighborhood is diverse and lively. A tremendous value for centrally-located lodging overseen by wonderful people in one of the world’s great cities.
I just completed a nearly week-long stay with the Henrys, who were friendly and communicative from the moment of my booking. I was warmly greeted on arrival, and made to feel almost like family throughout my stay. I saw more of Richard, who provided encouragement and advice on every day of my stay and was kind enough to drive my bags and I to the BART station for the trip home.
In addition to a comfy bed and a private bathroom, I was provided with a preloaded clipper card (a universal public transport pass), and complimentary top-shelf toiletries (body wash, shampoo, and conditioner). I’m not sure you should presume these, dear reader, but, I was so grateful to Richard and Mary for making them available to me. Two less things I had to worry about. The clipper card will allow you to simply bolt out the front door and start exploring! Pay for what you use, and settle up before you leave.
The home is in the Liberty Hill Historic District within the Mission neighborhood, built in 1876. For historical perspective, the first telephone call was made, the second Kentucky Derby run, and George Custer rode into history at the Little Bighorn in 1876. These homes were saved for posterity from the raging fires that followed the 1906 earthquake. The Mission Dolores building itself is the oldest in the city (1776).
The Inner Mission neighborhood is a vibrant one. Restaurants, clubs and bars are abundant. I had fresh happy-hour oysters (Mission Street Oyster Bar), tasty crepes (The Crepe House), crazy good pizza (Serrano’s), and trendy higher-end food (Foreign Cinema) all within a block of the house.
I rode the Muni (bus), historic streetcar, cable car, and BART. All are conveniently served from the Mission, which is central to everything in the city, it would seem.
My good fortune brought me to the Henry home while Mary and Richard were doing their holiday baking. I came home from a day’s sightseeing on my last night there to find a small plate of freshly baked treats waiting for me on the kitchen table. On my way out to go home, the next day, Richard sent a few pieces of his homemade baklava with me for the ride home. You’ll never have this experience at a commercial provider (Hilton, et al).
I could go further! Don’t hesitate to contact me directly via this website (Airbnb) if you have any question or would like to hear more about my stay. I could just gush on and on. I hope I was a sufficiently well-behaved guest as to be welcomed back, and that fate calls me back here soon…
Richard and Mary are excellent hosts. They provided us with lots of information on the surrounding quarter, public transport and everything else that was needed.
Prior to our arrival, they also provided every necessary information and more on how to get to their house.
The room and the entire house is extremely well kept, simply beautiful.
One of the best experiences we had so far on AirBnB, we strongly recommend them to other guests.
It was an amazing experience! Mary and Richard were really nice with us. They answered our emails really fast and explained with details everything we needed to know. Te room was perfectly clean as well as the bathroom.

I have lived in San Francisco for over 30 years. I am fortunate to own homes in two of the most beautiful parts of California, San Francisco and Lake Tahoe.
Come for an extended visit!
