An ideal haven for eco-minded travelers interested in an off-grid experience. Our newly renovated 1971 school bus is located on 10+ tranquil acres in a safe community in Taos, near the Rio Grande river gorge. Open skies, expansive views of the Taos mountains, hiking out the back door and a short drive to the river or hot springs with the added bonus of a comfortable, functional and attractive space to call your own during your stay. Glamping at its finest! LGBTQ+ and BIPOC welcome!!!

The space
Here's what to expect:
-No wifi
-Great cell reception (so remember to activate your hotspot before arrival if you'd like to use a laptop)
-Composting toilet in a hand-crafted cob outhouse
-Solar shower (outdoors)
-Kitchenette w propane double burner stove
-Solar lamps + USB charging station provided
-Water conscious (you will have 50 gallons of utility water provided per week)
If you go over the 50 gallons, there will be an additional charge of $50 to replenish.
-Vegetarian property = no meat to be prepared, consumed or disposed of on the property (with the exception of dog food). There is a fine of $150 for anyone who violates this rule.
-Smoking permitted in designated areas outside of bus. There is a $300 fine for any smoking in bus and $100 fine for butts that have not been disposed of properly.
-We provide you with the following: 3 gallons of drinking water upon arrival (in a refillable BPA free container), a cooler for ice (bring your own), cozy and clean bedding, bath towels, eco shower soap, eco-friendly dishwashing liquid, sponges, dish towels, coffee, a selection of teas, salt+pepper, olive oil and vinegar.
-You MUST have a car to stay on this property. 4x4 is highly recommended. You can manage without one, though if it's muddy, you would have to park off of the county maintained road and walk over about 10 mins.

The bus is vintage and we have put a lot of care into it. PLEASE TREAD LIGHTLY! No shoes and be gentle with the custom build outs. 🙏🙏🙏

Where you’ll be

Taos County, New Mexico, United States

We love the magnificent sunsets, starry skies, variety of hummingbirds and the fragrant sea of sage.
The drive into the community may appear a bit disheveled with a few customary New Mexico eyesores. Rest assured: The mesa is rural and peaceful; our neighbors are friendly and generally keep to themselves. Once you get to the bus, the beauty and spaciousness become apparent.

During your stay

Check In:
We will plan to greet you and show you around upon arrival. If not, we will provide instructions for a smooth self check-in. Either way, we will send you a Welcome Check List ahead of your stay so you can start to familiarize yourself with this awesome off-grid experience.

Check Out:
We try to do check-outs in person. If we are not available, we require that you text us upon departure. Failure to do so will result in a $50 charge.

We love Taos/Northern New Mexico and are happy to share some recommendations with you if you'd like. However we 100% respect your privacy and will not impose ourselves on you in any way.

We have a small hand-built adobe casita a few acres away from the bus. While it is not inhabited and we do not rent it out, we do renovate it over the summer months, so you'll likely see one or both of us + a friendly worker or two there from time to time (only during the day).
