Extra spacious

Guests love this home’s spaciousness for a comfortable stay.
Our guest cottage offers the perfect farm getaway for you and your family. Wake up to a beautiful sunrise and watch the animals grazing right outside your window. The Cottage is situated on our family farm nestled by the Croatan National Forest just minutes away from North Carolina’s beautiful beaches and historic sites.

The space
Step into simplicity. Perfect for small family use. Each bedroom features a cozy comforter covered full size bed, clothes closet, and personal mirror. There are personal heaters in each of the bedrooms. In the master bedroom there is a AC window unit. The two smaller bedrooms have personal fans but may get warm if you keep the doors closed. In the bathroom, a walk in shower is perfect for hosing down after a day at the beach or recuperating from sightseeing. You can gather the whole crew in the living room for games and giggles or enjoy some tv time. The cottage also has a quiet nook for reading or working (if you really feel you must). We offer a private Wi-Fi network so you can keep in touch with the rest of the world or relax with a good movie.

The team sized pine plank dining table is the center piece to the well-equipped full sized kitchen where you can share a big breakfast or quietly sneak midnight snacks. For the grill masters, the large back deck has a charcoal grill waiting for you and a fire pit for hanging out.

Guest access
You'll arrive by turning off of Roberts Rd onto a driveway that is shared with our neighbors. You'll immediately turn left onto the cottages private drive where there will be ample parking for all your vehicles, please do not drive in the grass.

We offer self-check-in, but we live on the property so we are available to meet you if you need help. We are happy to answer any questions or concerns that you may have about your visit.

The back porch lights are on a timer plug. They will come on in the evening and then shut off around 11. You are welcome to adjust the time or turn them on or off. If you need help with anything please let me know.

Other things to note
Do not enter the pasture and avoid feeding any of the animals without our permission, please. Our dogs run free on the property along with the chickens, a pig, goats and a turkey. They typically stay in the back near our home, but if they do come to see you, they might bark, they are not mean but can be skittish so if you ignore them they will leave. Our neighbors in the red house also have two friendly dogs, chickens and a couple guinea hens.

No more than 6 guests (including children of any age) are permitted to be on the property at any time. Parties of any kind are prohibited.

Where I went to school: East Carolina University
My work: West Prong Acres, LLC
In 1992, my parents bought a dilapidated farm house on 14 acres surrounded with pines and backing up to the West Prong branch of the Newport River. They dubbed it The Farm. For the next two years, all their spare time was spent working on the farmhouse to make it a home. I'm not sure if they knew it then, but they weren't just fixing up a house for us to live in, they were planting our roots. Once the farm house was habitable we ditched suburbia and moved full time to The Farm. In 2003 we went off to college. My parents cleared some land and built a house towards the back of the property. After they moved into the new house they rented out the farm house to friends and family until 2019. It needed some work before we put it back on the market. In October 2020 I finished most of the renovation projects and decided to see how it would do on Airbnb. The Farm isn’t just a destination; it is a feeling, a slower pace, a sense of calm, a place of serene joy!
