The Space

Old Cemetery Road Guest House is a Greek-Revival farmhouse-style home in a beautiful situation in Peacham one quarter mile from lovely Peacham Village and seven miles from Karme Choling Shambhala Meditation Center in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont.

The house is in a serene, rural location, surrounded by pastures and meadows. We are three miles from the nearest convenience store and seven miles to restaurants.

There's a beautiful hike up Devil's Hill with panoramic views and on the many dirt roads around this quiet, hilly town.

Great downhill skiing at Burke Mountain (40 mins.) or Cannon Mountain (N.H., 55 mins.)

  • Barry's home is a little piece of Vermont Heaven. Absolutely top notch. From the unbeatable hospitality to the spotless, cozy and cute room to the incredibly soft sheets, it was an unforgettable weekend. Even though I came only for my high school reunion, I left wanting to go back just to Barry's home one more time. Next time I am within 500 miles, I will make sure to go again. If you happen to be around as Barry is home, you can also look forward to some fantastic and stimulating morning conversation. I can't wait to go back again!

  • Private room & bath Peacham, Vt. is so much more! It defines what airbnb is all about! Barry and Lynne were amazing hosts. Staying in their home was like having an bed and breakfast all to ourselves, but also like spending the weekend with friends. The room with attached bathroom was immaculate and beautiful with lots of windows and a view of meadows, farms and the rolling hills of Vermont. The setting was idyllic, with horses grazing in one meadow, and cows in another. Barry made breakfast to order on both mornings, and both mornings it was absolutely delicious. This place is not to be passed up and I highly recommend "Private room & bath Peacham, Vt" There is much to see and do nearby... and Barry and Lynne are incredibly knowledgeable about the region. We enjoyed a self-lead walking tour of Peacham, a hike up Devil's Hill in nearby Groton State Forest that afforded us really fabulous views of Peacham and the nearby hills and mountains. Barry even provided a tour of the under-construction Peacham Cafe, which is certainly going to be a great addition to this quintessential small Vermont town. Brown's Market Bistro offers a simply and tasty menu and is a quick drive away in Groton. Also in Groton, Artesano Meadery offers tastings and tours -- not to be missed! We were lucky enough to stumble across the just opened Kingdom Taproom in St. Johnsbury, also highly recommended if you enjoy craft beer and a simple, locally sourced menu. We had a simply perfect time during our stay. Barry and Lynne were welcoming, flexible and very accommodating.

  • Our stay at the Lawson house was the highlight of our Vermont trip. This is quintessential Vermont. Barry and Lynn are the perfect hosts, and made us feel like we were visiting old friends. The Lawsons' concierge service was invaluable, as they always had great information about places to eat, nearby events and attractions, and driving directions. The house is absolutely charming, and our large room was clean, private, well appointed, and offered unbelievable views of the rolling countryside and neighboring farmland. Whatever you do, do not skip Barry's homemade breakfasts. (Just be sure to co ordinate with him the night before) We hope to return to Vermont often to see her in all her seasons. We will try to plan our trips so that we can stay with the Lawsons again and again. We very highly recommend staying here.

  • Barry and Lynne were wonderful hosts. Barry offered us numerous options for the things we were interested in seeing. Lynne recommended a dining option for the night we arrived and we had a wonderful meal. Both were very personable. The room was very clean and as described. There was a nice sitting area and private bathroom. We stayed two nights and Barry made wonderful breakfasts both mornings we were there. We would recommend this room for anyone wanting to visit Vermont. Very beautiful area.

  • We are very delighted with our stay "chez Lynn et Barry".
Both are pleasant and their home has a very nice location.
Even if the Blue Room has no shutters, our sleeping were deep and nice in the silence of the countryside. Barry is really a good "information center" and he likes to regale his guests with a delicious breakfast. We left them like old friends.

  • That is the most wonderful place in New England I guess! Barry and Lynne are wonderful hosts and the house and garden have an amazing view over the landscape. If you want to relax in a great place - just go there. Barry can give you recommendations about what to see in the area and for restaurants as well. Thank you Barry and Lynne for sharing your home with us - and thank you Barry for "teaching" us all about Baseball you were like a Big Papi to us - finding you was like a Homerun... :-)

  • We are grateful to Barry and Lynne as our hosts for the warm and generous welcome that they offered to us. Our first booking experience on airbandb and we will certainly be back! We very much enjoyed their presence, and their lovely house, and were touched by their kindness. The hearty breakfast each morning was fabulous (homemade waffles, eggs, local sausage, fruit blueberries, raspberries, right off the bushes! Homemade warm blueberry muffins, yogurt and delicious coffee! It couldn’t have been better. Our quarters were immaculately clean and spacious; and the house itself was situated on a quiet road with spectacular views. We had a wonderful stay! They were knowledgeable and helpful in every way suggesting places to eat and places to hike. The only difficult part of the stay was leaving! Highly recommended.

  • My and my boyfriend's stay with Barry and his wife was excellent. Barry invited as to a July Fourth dinner at the local church, suggested spots to stop on our way through Vermont, and prepared us a continental breakfast the next morning. The bedroom was beautiful, decorated in a modern, farmhouse style, and we slept very well. We all chatted about our travels, work and family histories, and we generally felt welcomed and engaged throughout our visit. We hope to pass through Peacham again and stay at their picturesque homestead.

  • Barry and Lynn are fantastic hosts. The room is lovely with views over countryside and the surrounding forests. And you get your own private bath room. Wish I had more time to explore the Peacham area.
