I thought the apartment was tired in many ways and that was surprising with the "renewed" label on the listing and the talk of remodeled. A bathroom and kitchen looked freshly remodeled but another bathroom looked pretty well worn. Walls could use cleaning and/or paint throughout.
That being said, not sure how much of that is just what you should expect in Rome, as the whole city skews dirty.
Location was pretty good. 10 minute walk to the coliseum. Some restaurants nearby, but definitely not the busy nightlife part of town. A little close to the dicey train station area though (lots of graffiti and garbage everywhere) and probably wouldn't stay in this part of town again. Again, not sure how much of that is just Rome.
The flat is AMAZING! Everything was great, only the freezer was cooling but not enough. the heater system is GREAT!. We were 5: towels and bedding for everyone. the flat has everything to cook. All the hosts very kind. Always in communication. The flat can't be in better location than this one. I'll rent again flat with them.
We stayed the Continental Apartment over Christmas Dec 19-26th and found the apartment to be exactly as expected from the listing. It is located in a very convenient area within 10-30 min. walking of most of the sites of Rome. It also within a 5 min. walk to the Termini which is convenient to both the Vatican and the airport. There were several grocery stores, cafes, bakeries, restaurants within a 5-10 walk. There's also several shops in the Termini in case you need something quickly.
The amenities of the apartment made the stay very comfortable. The beds and bedrooms were large and comfortable, bathrooms were nice, the kitchen was quaint with a very large cooking stove, washer /dryer (very convenient) and most amenities needed to serve large dinners for 8+ people. The only negative I might add was that the coffee pot was broken for the entire stay and they could've been a few more towels both in the kitchen and bathrooms.
Roberto was very friendly and accommodating and his English is very good. We opted to take him up on his offer to send a car service (extra fee) to the airport for pickup but it would be just as easy to take the subway.
One issue we discovered was with cellular service. We were traveling from the Middle East and USA and none of us arranged for cellular service before leaving our home countries and found upon arrival that we had absolutely no mobile service or data. We could not make calls, receive calls or use data. You might want to look into service before you leave. We bought a new SIM card when we arrived.
My other small complaint was that the internet was slow. It could be due to the holiday or it could be due to the system which is more of a hot spot. Due to this we could use our Apple TV that we travel with and could not watch our traditional holiday movies.
Overall, I would highly recommend the apartment for families with children, adults; most anyone really would find the accommodations satisfying.
We had a wonderful time at this apartment and would heartily recommend it to friends. It's large and centrally located.
The condition of the apartment itself was very good, but it's within a building whose shared spaces were dirty and in poor condition, though we spent so little time in these shared spaces that it hardly mattered.
The unreliable and slow wifi was by the biggest issue. It's provided by a USB tether unit that advertises 42Mbps, but delivers under 1Mbps. It was slower than my iPhone on Vodafone's 3G. It would often cut out entirely, and also only worked in the living room and kitchen.
This apartment is situated in a convenient part of Rome, right next to the Santa Maria Maggiore church, within a kilometer of the Colosseum. It's very close to the Vittorio Emmanuel station on Metro A. All of this convenience means, however, that there are noises from the street throughout the night -- yelling, some carousing, trucks and ambulances, etc.
The gas stove has 9 burners, and the refrigerator is a full "American-sized" one. This kitchen will be a wonderful boon to anyone who intends to cook while in Rome.
The water is super-hard, leaving a white film of calcium deposits with every pot of water you boil. The kitchen sink drained poorly.
The washer and dryer set worked very well. Sheets and towels were provided, as was soap, but there was no dishwashing liquid or dishwasher soap.
Overall, the kitchen and its provisions were wonderful. It's a huge feature of the apartment.
There are two and a half bathrooms in the apartment, none en-suite. The finish quality of the bathrooms is high. That said, there are a few things to be aware of. The two main bathrooms smelled dank from stale water. The shower stall had mildew or black mold in its grouting, and its floor drain had a large heel-cutting hole in it. The main bath's toilet was difficult to flush, sometimes requiring up to 5-6 attempts in order to get a full flush. None of these issues, however, were a big deal to us. The overall quality of the bathrooms is very good.
The bedrooms were all a good size, large by European standards, and finished well. There is ample storage in each room, along with a television in each. The beds were comfortable, and there was a window with natural light in every room as well.
This apartment was fabulous. Its location and size make it a great place from which to base your Roman adventures. Most of the issues I've listed are just so that you are aware of specifics regarding the apartment, but I would heartily recommend this as a great place to stay for those with large families or traveling in groups.
Roberto was exceptionally helpful during our stay, highly responsive and polite. We enjoyed our time here tremendously.
There were four of us sharing this three-bedroom, three-bathroom apartment. It is beautifully designed, spacious and extremely well located, not just for touring the sites but also for restaurants and other amenities.. There was one plumbing issue (otherwise I would have given a 5 star rating) but it was fixed quickly. I would definitely stay there again.
* This apartment is large and aesthetically lovely--high-ceilinged and well-appointed. During our 4-week stay we had numerous opportunities for entertaining and it was a great venue even for large groups. The kitchen is huge and has a great stove/oven and a full-size fridge.
* The apartment is also well-located, close to a supermarket, only a 7-minute walk from Termini station for buses, trains, and metro or a 7-minute walk from Cavour Metro stop. There are plenty of restaurants and gelaterias in close walking distance, and the hip Monti district is less than 10-minutes walking distance.
* The property manager--Suraj--was consistently friendly and helpful. He cheerfully made the effort to communicate in English with us non-Italian speakers. He helped us with our bags upon arrival and visited the apartment multiple times to address issues that came up during our stay.
* While the management did make efforts to address our requests to fix electrical and draining system problems, improvements to the dryer and A/C systems would make the apartment better for long-term stays.
Probably the best apartment I have ever stayed in.
Centrally located within a stroll of Termini and major attractions nearby. We managed to walk to most places, occasionally taking the subway (Vatican).
The apartment very comfortably suited 6 adults. It looks even better in person than on the photos. 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 1 toilet, very large and spacious living room with a long dining table and great kitchen.
Equipped with virtually everything that was needed (only an electrical kettle was missing).
Super clean as I am allergic to dust and never had problems.
In short - highly recommended and worth every penny. Experience far superior to what any hotel can offer.
I can't imagine somebody not enjoying this apartment and Rome as well.
