The Space

Come feel at home in my small but artfully decorated studio right in between Pacific Heights, Russian Hill and Nob Hill, three of San Francisco's safest, most charming neighborhoods.

Amenities in the apartment:
-Gated building
-Fully equipped kitchen (stove, oven, microwave, toaster, blender, rice-cooker, professional grade Teflon pots and pans, full dishware, etc.)
-Full-size memory foam bed with 2 memory foam pillows
-High-speed, 30 Mbps Internet from Comcast with WiFi
-iHome to play music (radio, iPod), charge your iPhone and set alarms (only works for iPhone 4 or 5 with provided adapter)
-Clean sheets will be provided
-Dining table with 2 chairs
-Comfortable 1-2 person chaise lounge for reading or relaxing (not shown in pictures, purchased recently)
-Will be given space in closet & hangers upon request
-Modern, clean bathroom with partitioned shower and toilet to allow 2 people to use at once
-Balcony/fire escape to enjoy the sun
-Laundry in the building just downstairs ($3/load for washer, $3/load for dryer, machines work great)

Host Amenities:
-As a San Francisco Bay Area resident for my whole life, I will happily provide suggestions on things to do, places to see. I'm a wine-lover and a big outdoor adventurer, so I can give you all the best wine bars and hikes/bike rides to do throughout the city!
-Very responsive by email and phone
-Check in and out times are very flexible, just let me know what you need, I can work around your crazy flight or transit schedules.

Guest Access

All the amenities listed above are available to the guests. The only thing off-limits are my closet and the items in my drawers/cabinets. Except for the kitchen, all kitchen cabinets are for guest use!

Interaction with Guests

I only rent the apartment when I'm away, so you will have the entire space to yourself!

The Neighborhood

VERY safe, beautiful neighborhood! You can walk home at any time of the night and feel completely safe. This is an upscale part of San Francisco with expensive real estate, and you will never encounter any homeless people or illicit activities near your home. This apartment is really ideally located because it is in a family-friendly neighborhood (you will see many young families and young couples walking their dogs), you are only 2 blocks from very happening nightlife.

-Sunny neighborhood! Unlike the Sunset or the Haight, this part of town gets a lot of sunshine.

-1 block from Lafayette Park, beautiful park at the top of the hill with sweeping views of the entire city, including Golden Gate Bridge
-2 blocks from Polk Street nightlife (~10 block strip of bars, restaurants, clubs)
-Nob Hill and Russian Hill just a few blocks away, very charming neighborhoods with Mom & Pop run wine bars and cafes
-Union St shopping, brunch, cafes, nightlife only 4 blocks away
-Famous Marina District (Chestnut Street bars and restaurants, great for weekend brunch), Crissy Field, Fort Mason is a 15-minute walk down the hill
-5 blocks to Fillmore Street, famous for jazz venues and trendy restaurants
-Any sort of convenience store, grocery store, hardware store you can possibly need is within walking distance. I can guide you to the best places.

Must-Visit Neighborhood Joints:
-Blue Fog Market on Green & Gough for artisan sandwiches, gourmet coffee and pastries. Right across from Allyne Park, great place to eat your treats in the sun
-Amelie Wine Bar at Washington & Polk for delicious international wines and a classy, urban vibe for all ages
-Square Meals on Polk & Broadway, best weekend brunch, great coffee & pastries on weekdays, great beers/wine on weeknights
-Marengo on Union, trendy spot, great for whiskey cocktails, food, seeing how the twenty-somethings of San Francisco live

Getting around

Multiple public transit options because apartment is 1 block from Van Ness Avenue, a central artery of the city. There are 8 bus lines within a 5 minute walk, 2 cable car lines within 5 blocks

If you are bringing a car...

Street parking is available, doesn't require a permit and isn't metered. However, it is limited to 2 hours from M-F, 8am-6pm typically (some blocks, like directly in front of my apartment, are 8am-11pm). Weekends and holidays have no time limits, and parking is relatively easy on Jackson street between Gough and Laguna. In general, the further you get from Van Ness Avenue, the easier it is. Parking starts filling up fast around 6pm on a Friday, so I would try to get in by then.

  • Kiram was very responsive and very accommodating. Apartment was clean and in excellent location. It's about 20min walk to the Fisherman's Whaft. She is very flexible with check in and check out times. Thanks for everything, we had a great stay.

  • Solid location, easy access and clean. Just what was needed.

  • The apartment was in a terrific location with easy access to pretty much anything. It was clean, simple and quiet. Shower had plenty of hot water and good water pressure. Kiran's place is a bargain, I thought, at this price.

  • Kiran was easy to work with - she answered all my questions in a timely manner and was very helpful. The place is in a great neighborhood. There's plenty of things to do nearby within walking distance. Other reviews mentioned that parking was easy, but this was not our experience. We found it to be quite the challenge, but we made it work (you just keep circling the block and the neighborhood until you find something that's hopefully not too far away). Kiran's place was clean and ready for us when we arrived and she is super flexible with check in and out times. We LOVED our trip to San Fran!

  • Kiran was a great host and her apartment is perfect. Very quiet neighborhood, close to a lot of good places to visit and I found parking right around the corner! Her space is very clean and she had everything ready for me well before my arrival. Would recommend and will be back! Thanks Kiran!

  • Stayed in Kiran's apartment for a week, everything was great! :)
I've stayed in many areas of SF, it was quiert and peaceful here, you can't exactly say that of all of SF.

It was my first time using airbnb, and definitely not the last.

  • The condo was immaculate. Kiran responded to each and every question promptly and helpfully. Kiran's place is in an incredible location. Beautiful street in a great part of one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The building is quiet and the few neighbors that I ran into greeted me with a smile. An overall delightful experience and I would not hesitate to recommend Kiran's place to anyone. And, by the way, I've never met Kiran (or even spoken to her on the phone -- all communication was by text or e-mail) so this is a totally unbiased review!

  • My girlfriend and I stayed at Kiran's place while we were in the city celebrating her birthday. We had an amazing weekend.

Kiran's place is in a great neighborhood. We were able to find parking easily (even during labor day weekend!). We parked the car and just walked, took public transit or used Uber all weekend. We never felt like the car was unsafe and we never felt unsafe walking around at night. There are a lot of good coffee shops, breakfast spots and bars/lounges in the area too.

I would highly recommend Kiran's listing and would stay there again. The only *slightly* negative thing was that the sheets were apparently too small.. but that's probably just because I'm a notorious cover hog.

    Thanks Kiran!

  • Kiran's place was fantastic! Great location, clean and quiet, and spacious for a studio apartment. Kiran was a fabulous host, providing clear instructions and responding quickly to any/all questions we had. I would definitely recommend Kiran's place!

I grew up in the Bay Area, moved across the coasts for school and work, and now I'm back in SF. I work as an engineer, and I love to bike, run, cook, and enjoy wine with friends. I'm an explorer at heart, and I host on AirBnb because it makes travelling more affordable for me, and I want to do the same for other travelers. My room rates are always reasonable (and often cheapest in my neighborhood), since my goal is not to extort fellow travelers for their last dollar, but simply to allow myself and others to explore the world, in comfort at reasonable prices. Safe travels!
