The space
They say good things come in small packages, and the Grand Canyon Nugget is here to prove it! Though small, The Nugget has an indoor composting toilet, a shower, and a kitchenette fit to feed that special hunger that comes from a day of hiking and sight-seeing which are rarities in this area. Breakfast is always in bed at The Nugget, since you won’t want to leave our plush Tuft and Needle mattress in a hurry. Our outdoor fire pit is especially inviting when the clear, cold skies show off the endless stars. Decorated with art from local artists, we hope you’ll find as much beauty in our simple home as you do at the wondrous Grand Canyon.

You'll have access to The Nugget, the patio area, and the acre of land. If you'd like to explore the space, please feel welcome! We only ask you are respectful of your tiny house neighbors at the Juniper House and the plants and animals that call our land home. Please take only pictures of our flowering plants, as they are scarce in this region and pollinators rely on them! You'll also likely see wild animals which we ask you enjoy from a safe distance.

The Nugget is as close as you can get to the Grand Canyon without staying at a crowded, expensive hotel. You can avoid the long lines of traffic coming from Flagstaff and Williams and be at the South Entrance in 30 minutes so don't forget your Park Pass purchasable at the Valle Chevron or South Entrance. You can wake up, enjoy breakfast in bed, and be at the canyon enjoying the sights before 9 AM!

Other things to note
The Nugget is a completely off-grid, 100 square foot sustainable tiny house so some things will be different than a typical hotel room. The Nugget is solar-powered and features sustainable paper and cleaning products. This is a glamping experience! It is possible to run out of electricity and water if you don't conserve. There are bugs outside and they will come inside if you leave the door or windows open.

From early December to mid-March, running water isn’t available at the house or whenever temperatures at night go below 20 degrees. We will direct you to a local campground for showers during that time! Please check the forecast for your stay. It can get very cold at night in winter so we encourage warm sleeping clothes, layers for sitting outside, and especially warm socks! The summers are hot. We provide an ice chest for extra ice and keeping drinks cold. Fresh water is always provided for drinking, hygiene, and cooking.

You share the acre with another tiny house, the Juniper House. Please be considerate and respectful of your neighbor's stay since many people visit us to enjoy the quiet and beauty of the high desert. We strongly discourage playing music, podcasts, etc. outdoors in order to preserve the natural environment.

We have a fully detailed guide in the house that will have all the tips and tricks on how to save water and energy, using a composting toilet, and anything else you might have a question about. Though different, we hope learning how to live a low-impact life will be an enriching experience for you! Don't be afraid to try something new at The Nugget :)

Neighborhood highlights

The Nugget sits on an acre of natural high desert. This is a secluded neighborhood so you'll have all the peace and quiet you're looking for! Though there's another tiny house on the property, you're separated by a large Juniper tree. You can enjoy views of the rolling high desert and never-ending sky without feeling intruded upon.

Located only 30 minutes from the Grand Canyon South Entrance, you're also escaping light pollution so be sure to take advantage of the gorgeous night skies and count the shooting stars that fly over. If you're looking for a place to try night sky photography, you've found the perfect place!
