  • Marcelo was a wonderful host. Finding his Apartment was a true blessing. My mother, who was traveling with me is in a wheelchair and having an apartment set up for someone in a wheelchair made our stay easy and seamless. We were able to get out and see as much of New York as we could.

  • My stay at the apartment was just perfect in every way. It was a large, pleasant apartment with an old charm in the middle of all the shops, stores and transportation. Everything was just downstairs basically! The apartment was also very quite especially for being in NY. The doormen were very helpful and welcoming. Apartment had an awesome entrance. Kitchen, TV, secure internet were all working perfectly and much more than what you could find in a hotel for sure. When I had questions, I emailed to Marcelo and he'd get back to me with answers within 2 min. I'd definitely look to see if Marcelo's place is free when ever I go to NY from now on!!! It was one of my best stays in NY.

  • The apartment is perfectly located for Columbia University and Upper West Side areas. Spacious and comfortable. Only comment: Bedroom window could use improved draft and sound insulation as the apartment faces Broadway which is a busy thoroughfare day and night.

  • Marcelos Appartement is great. We had been 3 persons, enough space for all three of us. As everywhere in N.Y. you hear the noise of the street. But you stay in a really very nice neighborhood, "calm" and save, with all things around as cafe, supermarket and bagels. You have a quick transfer to middle and lower Manhattan. The appartement is very clean and functional. Marcelo was hyper-helpful, giving advices and answering all questions quickly and taking care for our stay. Would for sure return with pleasure.

  • We stayed in Marcelo's wonderfully wheelchair accessible apartment in summer. To be honest, it was the only wheelchair friendly apartment we could find in NYC with a roll in (disabled) shower as everything else available were pricey hotels. None-the-less, it was perfect! Whether abled or disabled this place is ideal. I encourage especially electric wheelchair users to try it as it's large (by NYC standards) with enough room for hoists, luggage, shower chairs, etc. If you happen to be paraplegic, everything is at the right height and you won't even need to take a shower chair/bench as it has one built in.
As for Marcelo, he's friendly, honest, clear in his directions and prompt. Nice guy (even though we never met him).

If I had to point out any negatives or comments, it is a bit of a trek to get to lower manhattan (where I mainly wanted to go), but probably more because as I'm in a wheelchair, not all subways have elevators, and the buses are reliable but slow! Not an issue if you are fully abled though. Being near Columbia Uni had its perks though – quieter, street parking, safe with lots of students/lecturers around. Just be prepared to get going to be amongst the thick of it.

Few last tips for staying here: go to The Community for great breakfasts or next door at the French place. Maoz for a great value lunch on the run. An absolute MUST is to visit Smoke Jazz Club mid-week for a wonderful dinner and live jazz on Broadway st.

Thank you Marcelo for a truly wonderful stay, and we most definitely will be back, finances allowing :-)

  • We had a great stay at Marcelo’s appartement. Marcelo is friendly and responsive, and gave us clear instructions. Everything was well organized and we had no problem at all to find the place, pick up the keys…etc. The apartment is large, confortable and particularly well located, on Broadway just accross the street from Colombia University. Main subway lines are just 2 minutes walk, and there is parks, markets, plenty of restaurants and bar whithin walking distance. It’s a perfect place for anyone who wants to visit New York !

  • After two months looking for a nice place to stay at NY, I finally found Marcelo´s apartment.

I stayed at Marcelo´s apartment with more 3 people. We were 2 couples and were looking for a comfortable place to stay, privacy for both couples and avoiding the touristic area. We found everything we wanted at his place.

His apartment was exactly what is shown on pictures. There is also a huge bathroom with an amazing and powerful shower and the water temperature is great! The towels provided were so incredibly soft, 5 star hotels quality.

The main bedroom has a closet that you are more than welcome to use it with tons of hangers. The living room becomes a second queen size bedroom with total privacy. The apartment was super and extremely clean at a point that I e-mailed him to congratulated the housekeeper.

The kitchen is very very spacious, has a big fridge where you can storeage whatever you want for your breakfast. The microwave is very powerful and you can easily prepare a hot chocolate there.

Wifi internet worked perfectly, always high speed, never a problem.

Location was perfect! It´s only 2 block from a 24h grocery store where you can find all sort of things and subways. The neighborhood is extremely safe and, even when we came back late at night, we never felt scared. There is a 24h doorman on the building always available to help you and they were all very friendly and happy to assist us.

Communication with Marcelo very easy since the very beginning. He was always available for us even before we arrive. He was able to accommodate our last minute issues, helped us to arrange a private transfer from the airport to his place and also on our way back.
He sent me e-mails to make sure we arrived safely and got everything we need and prompt answered whenever we had doubts about little things.

I would definitely recommend this apartment for anyone in the world who wants to experience a real new yorker atmosphere!! Don´t even look for other places. This apartment is the perfect combination of perfect and very convenient location + subway access + safe neighborhood + huge space + great hospitality. Go for it!

  • The apartment was wonderful, spacious enough for 4 people and very clean and neat. The building is managed by Columbia University and was great as well.

This apartment is just off Broadway right by tremendous restaurants, sidewalk cafes and bookstores in Morningside Heights. It's on the same block as Tom's Restaurant of Seinfeld fame. Easy access to the subway. Close to the fantastic Westside Market for all your grocery needs (forget about Whole Foods).

Marcelo was friendly and helpful. Giving us clear instructions for picking up the key and everything. I would stay there again for sure.
