Some info about Medellin
Medellín is surrounded by 8 smaller towns and together they form the Area Metropolitana.
The International Flower and Orchid exhibit: every year in August at the Botanical Gardens
Pueblito Paisa is a reconstruction of a typical but tiny Antioquia village.
Los Alumbrados, the christmas lights decorating Medellin, make it the most beautiful Latin American city for the holidays.
Ferrocarril de Antioquia - Old train station is a fine building at the corner of City Hall and the Governor's Hall.
The Museo de Arte Moderno de Medellin (MAMM) has now 2 sites. The original is a small building near Suramericana and Carlos E. Restrepo neighborhoods, hosting the traditional exhibits.
Nice cozy apt. It's not luxurious, but it's comfortable. Great location right across from Park Poblado, less than 5 min walk to Lleras, and it's on a side street so you don't have the noise and can get a quiet nights sleep. Also worth noting... the "Don Percho" restaurant downstairs has really good chicken burgers.
The negatives: the bathroom is quite small and the plumbing could use a little repair. There's also a bit of an ant problem. Again, these were all minor issues and weren't severe enough to bother me, but they might be a problem for someone else.
Great apartment and Catalina was always available if needed. She kindly let me check out late as nobody was checking in. Recommended!
This apartment is the best choice for the price and location. Simple but adequate. I had previously rented something close to Parque el Poblado but it was very noisy at night. In Catalina's apartment I did not have any issues at all. Everything is close by: public transportation, supermarket, banks, food establishments galore and of course Parque Lleras+nightlife. Coming from the US many would say that AC is needed but my gf and I did not need it at all. Will def rent from Catalina again who had the patience to deal with me as an airbnb first timer and was quick to answer all my emails. Thank you Catalina, we shall see you soon.
The unit that we rented was a third floor walk up. It was located on a side street which was nice because it did not have a lot of noise. The bathroom door was a tight fit which required a little muscle to close. Also, the toilet flusher would get stuck and the wáter would continue to run until we opened the lid to push the lever down to stop the running wáter. I overlooked the fact that the unit is not air conditioned, but rather has 2 large fans. For Americans who are accostomed to air conditioning, this may be a factor in making a decision. There were ants on the kitchen sink and in the bathroom floor immediately ahead of the toilet. Other than these minor inconveniences, the apartment was great. The apartment was clean, there were pots and pans, dishes, cups plates, and utensils adequate for 2 people. The unit is 5 blocks from Parque Lleras and close to all the excitement of the área. Also, the unit is quite spacious. Carolina was very responsive and easy to work with.
I called one of the contact numbers when I left the airport, and she told me the guy in the bicycle shop next door to the apartment had the key. Catalina had sent me a message the evening before telling me that information, but I went to sleep early and did not see the message. The apartment was ready when I arrived. It is roomy for a one bedroom. It was well furnished with very good wifi. I especially liked the washer and dryer. I have stayed in that neighborhood many times, but this was the first time staying at Catalina's place. Her apartment was much quieter than the others I have stayed in. I will be staying at one of Catalina's apartments in the future.
