About this listing
In-city gardeny retreat -- hens pecking outside your kitchen window, downtown just minutes away!
Let us offer you the best of in-city and residential neighborhoods, in a sweet, spacious studio with all the amenities.
In this welcoming space, you'll be across the street (plenty of on-street parking!) from a great little park, and just up the hill from a walkable storefront neighborhood with boutiques, bakeries, restaurants, and a day spa. Some of the best restaurants in Seattle are within a five-minute walk...Crush, Tallulah's, Harvest Vine, Cafe Flora...When you've eaten your fill, hit the YMCA just 5 blocks over, where a day membership gets you access to all of their equipment, yoga classes, and swimming pool. Those of you who like consistency with your travel will find a Starbucks and a Safeway three blocks away :-)
The unit has a queen bed (extra firm with built-in pillow top) with box spring. In addition, a twin-size futon (fold-out) can accommodate a third person.
Your own private entrance means you can come and go at any time, with no worries of disturbing anyone. Flying in late? No problem! Just let us know, and we will happily stash a key for you.
We can't wait to help you love your time in Seattle!
For those with accessibility issues: There are 12 stairs leading up to the front yard, then seven leading down to the unit.
NOTE: We love being able to offer a high-quality place in central Seattle with more amenities than a hotel (full kitchen! free parking!) at less than half the price. In order to avoid charging a cleaning fee, we ask that guests do a few move-out tasks -- strip the bed, start a load of laundry, sweep the floor, empty the trash. If you'd prefer to just pay a fee, let us know and we can add a $30 one-time fee to your stay.
Also - please note that the bathroom has a shower with good water pressure, but no tub.
Get downtown or to the easily -- 7 minutes by car, 12 by bus, or 30 on your feet.
We're also just over a block from the bus that takes you to the Seattle Center. The airport is easily accessible through public transpo as well -- short bus ride, then light rail.
Or stay home -- chill in the fenced back yard or pick raspberries in the front (they ripen in July)
Quiet time: 10:30 pm to 7:30 am.
This is a completely nonsmoking apartment.
This is a family house in a residential neighborhood -- so, you know, behave accordingly :-)
Please leave things in good shape - no dirty dishes or counters. We also ask that, before you leave, you strip beds, start a load of wash, and remove food from the fridge.
Pets are okay but have to follow the same rules as people - no scratching up the furniture, peeing on the carpet, or howling in the middle if the night. If they absolutely must smoke, they need to do so outside.
Margot è sempre stata gentile e disponibile. La casa è confortevole, ampia, silenziosa, in un quartiere molto gradevole ben servito dai mezzi pubblici
The host met us upon our arrival and was friendly. The location was very good and the parking out front was great. The place had everything you needed to do your own cooking and make your stay comfortable. The place was clean and organized.
You had to pay particular attention to keeping the kitchen counter tops exceptionally clean to avoid the visit from the local ant colony. This may have been a result of the exceptionally dry summer Seattle has experienced.
I am not sure why it was termed lovely "garden" studio as there wasn't really any garden. Again maybe a result of the dry summer.
When you are leaving make sure you sweep the floor, take out the garbage to the designated place and start a load of wash for the towels and bed sheets or the host will charge you an additional $30US.
Overall it was a convenient place to stay in central Seattle.
Yes - the garden has really suffered in Seattle's drought and excessive heat this year, as we noted in our welcome binder. It really is a drag! Perhaps we should consider changing the title for this year. The ants are another result, and I'm glad you mention them since no one else has, and of course we will want to take care of that. So thanks for that.
I'm sorry you missed the move-out instructions -- we've never had anyone miss them before, and as we noted -- those simple tasks are so that we don't have to charge a cleaning fee, and our guests have really appreciated that! However, since our interaction, I've decided to make that clear in the listing as well.
Although I have not met Margot or Anthony in person I felt they were really nice people the way email communication went. I arrived on an overnight flight so early in the morning and Margot made it easy for me to find the keys.
Me and my boyfriend felt very welcome as the studio is just so nice and cozy and clean.
The neighborhood is amazing. Lush green very quiet street and you can still walk downtown in half an hour or take one of the many frequent buses.
I would never want to stay downtown with this alternative. It was actually nice to come "come" to this quiet area after a full day downtown.
Margot & Anthony are both incredibly welcoming and lovely hosts. We didn't get a chance to meet them in person, but communication with them was a breeze. The eggs they left for us were a delight, and the chickens were adorable. Even though it was really hot out for the few days that we were there, the studio remained at a very comfortable steady temperature all day and night. I would recommend anyone visiting Seattle to stay at their garden studio.
the place was spotless, bright and comfortable. there were fresh eggs from our neighbors the chickens and granola bars to snack on. the towels were plush, and the bathroom clean. check in was flexible and the hosts extremely accommodating.
the location is quiet and a bit away from the noise of the city, and a relaxing atmosphere.
The place is clear and welcoming. Very interesting nice hosts. Highly recommend.

About the Host, Margot & Anthony
Margot is your basic decent person - mother, three kids, job in high tech, writer. She bites her nails, but does not cheat at Scrabble or break other people's things.
Anthony likes to exercise, watch movies, and do good works.
You'll see many of our reviews are of Margot & Ivy -- Margot and Anthony's youngest daughter. Margot & Ivy started being Airbnb hosts in 2012, as Ivy's first job. We had a great time, but Ivy is now spending 10th grade in Costa Rica, so Anthony has been pressed into service :) With our nest now (temporarily) empty, we're renting both our original Airbnb, the separate apartment "Lovely Garden Studio" as well as a bedroom in our own home.
