Really, right ON THE BEACH. The patio is less than 10 steps to the sand. Watch the surf from the master bedroom, living room, dining room and kitchen. Lots of privacy, too, as this condo is a corner unit facing away from everyone else. Comfortable, with air conditioning in every room. Convenient, not only to the surf, but restaurants on the beach at Los Perros and Colorados surf breaks. Panga Drops is only 70 meters away. Good internet. BBQ grill on the patio. Full kitchen. PERFECT!

The space
The most private condo on the beach. At the SW corner of the Villas Iguana Beach condos, A18 faces the beach on 2 sides, with wide-open views from the master bedroom (on 2 sides - wake up watching the surf), living room (on 2 sides), dining room (on 2 sides) and kitchen (yep, out 2 directions). Airy and bright. Good luck finding better views or beach access!

Being on the ground floor is a real plus, too. No lugging your luggage or surfboards up and down stairs. Quickest access to the beach. And no palm trees to block your ocean views.

Guests have direct access to great surf breaks in this private development and a 9-hole golf course. There are five restaurants, four bars, a wine bar, two grocery stores and a fully-stocked surf shop. Surfboard rentals available from at least 2 locations. Surf lessons, too.

Where you’ll be

Tola, Rivas, Nicaragua

Hacienda Iguana is a private development with a 2-stage guard system - you need to get cleared through two gates with guards. Plus there are guards on 24-hour duty right there at the condo. We have five great restaurants and bars, two grocery stores, a spa, bike rentals, surf rentals, volleyball, 2 pools and all the amenities you need plus a wonderful international community of expats and visitors. With world-class surf and a top-notch golf course, it's hard to find anyplace as wonderful as this little corner of Central America. Hacienda Iguana is a special place!

When I go on a surf trip I try to find lodging that is as close to the surf as possible, ideally with a view of the surf break. That is nearly impossible for most surf breaks in Central America, especially Nicaragua, but not here. I've done a bit of surf travel in Central America, Mexico, the Caribbean, Europe, etc. Along the way I've written and published a few surf travel guide books, The Surfer's Guide to Costa Rica, The Surfer's Guide to Baja and The Surfer's Guide to Mainland Mexico (publish only) and The Surfer's Guide to Costa Rica & SW Nicaragua. When it came time to buy my own surf retreat, I decided on Playa Iguana in Nicaragua and found this condo right on the beach, right in front of surf. I love staying in my place, and make 3-4 trips each year to get my fill. I chose this condo over others because it has a direct view of the surf out of nearly every room, and there is surf right out front, so I can watch the surf and jump on it any time. It takes all of 60 seconds to walk to the paddle-out spot. When I'm not surfing I'm usually working, which is just fine because the internet connection is great (fiber optic) and I can watch the surf while I work and get out there as soon as I can't stand watching anymore! When visiting my place I used to rent cars so I could travel around to the different surf spots nearby - Santana, Popoyo, Maderas and Astillero, to name a few - but not anymore. I learned that I'm just wasting time and money chasing waves when the surf is so consistent and good right out front. So, I just relax and enjoy what I have, which is a comfortable home right on the beach in front of great, consistent, warm-water surf. Does it get any better?
