Great room in a fantastic neighborhood for an excellent price. Tanya and Richard were great hosts and even let me checkin at 7:30 am! Apartment is really in the best location with restaurants, bars, and coffee shops only steps away. I was glad I brought ear plugs because NYC can be a little noisy. Look forward to another trip!
This was our first time in New York and the location of the apartment was great to explore the city. Subway station was close by and the surrounding area is full of nice restaurants and shops. Tanya also provided us some recommendations on where to go and eat. She and her family waited for us on the day of our arrival until late evening (10 pm) which was very nice. Especially, because they went on vacation later that day. Unfortunately, we haven't had time to get to know them a little bit better as they have been away during the whole time of our stay. Anyway, we were able to contact them via Email and she always answered promptly. The room was quite convenient because it has an en-suite bathroom. Nevertheless, the room changed from the one in the pictures and is a bit smaller. Unfortunately, the bed is was not very comfortable (very soft) and there was a massive problem with the heating system. We had to counteract the heat in the room by opening the windows, which was very noisy in the evenings. Overall, we think that the room and the apartment in general could have been cleaner.
Tanya and Richard were lovely people however there experience fell a little bit short of expectations. The apartment was a little bit messy to arrive to and was not as described in the photos which may have been to do with them moving house.
The room was not the one pictured rather a much smaller one and the bathroom was also quite unclean.
The apartment gets quite warm due to their heating system but we just counteracted that with opening windows. The area was awesome though. Very close to the subway and so many places nearby. Don't expect to get much sleep on a Friday or Saturday night tho. The night life is kind of hectic on the street after dark. But that's not usually a problem for anyone visiting as they would be part of that scene.
Had a wonderful time at Tanya's place. The room has its own en suite bathroom and a closet. The surrounding area is awesome: a lot of bars and restaurants are nearby. Tanya has also a list of recommended spots. I can highly recommend this apartment.
This place is beyond amazing. Tanya and Richard welcomed and made us feel so comfortable. The area is great for food and drinks and I'd definitely would like to come back.

We are easy going people who love to be hospitable and meet new people. We have been hosts since March 2011 and had our daughter Emma in November 2012. We like to go out, eat at fun restaurants, go to plays, play pool or sometimes we will just stay home and make dinner. He is a technical director for theater and I am a wine distributor. We have lived in the area for a while and are very privy to the action of NYC. If you want to know where to go and what to do, chances are we will be able to help you. We are in the process of moving to so we haven't been around as much, so you will probably get the apartment to yourself!! Enjoy the feeling of being a real New Yorker in the heart of the Lower East Side- Manhattan's next up and coming neighborhood that hasn't quite been discovered yet :-)
