Where you’ll be

Korakou, Nicosia, Cyprus

Ideal location for peace and relaxation in nature. From there one can make excursions to nearby villages, museums, monasteries and nature trails.
Green House is located in the village of Korakou. The village of Korakou is located in the District of Nicosia, 51 km from the city and just off the B9 highway. It is located in the beautiful area of Solea Valley, north of the ancient mine of Skouriotissa.
The references to Korakou date back to the Frankish period and it is believed that the village took its name, either from an ancient king of the area or its first inhabitant. In the old maps it is also found as "Coracu", "Coraco" and "Coraci".
The main crops of the village include, among others, fruits and olives, while its forest land is scattered with wild pines. The area is also known for growing aromatic local herbs and distilling them into essential oils.Points of interest include the three watermills and the two olive mills with their old and traditional architecture. These buildings testify to the involvement of the inhabitants with agricultural activities in the past, as well as the way in which the inhabitants took advantage of the abundant water of the village.

The village also has important religious monuments, churches that are particularly rich in icons and silver objects. Among them are the 18th century Panagia Eleousa and the church of the Apostle Luke of 1697 - as evidenced by an inscription above the northern entrance and the church of Agios Mamas of the 17th century. Korakou is built near the west bank of the river Karkotis, at an average altitude of 420 meters.
